CRPF jawan martyred in IED blast
Bhubaneswar: A CRPF jawan was martyred following a blast during an anti-Naxal operation at Odisha-Jharkhand border on Saturday morning, officials said. ASI Satyaban Kumar Singh (34) of 134th CRPF battalion, who hailed from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, was part of a team that was searching Saranda forest at the inter-State border for explosives robbed by Maoists from a stone quarry on May 27.
He sustained injuries on his left leg when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded around 6 am near K Balang village in Sundargarh district. He was taken to a hospital in Rourkela, where he succumbed to the injuries.
The search operation was being conducted by a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Odisha Police. About 5 tonnes of explosives were robbed from a stone quarry at Banko in Sundargarh by Maoists. While three-fourths of the explosives have been recovered so far, the security forces are continuing their search for the remaining gelatin packets.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi condoled the death of the CRPF official. 'Deeply saddened to know about the sacrifice of ASI Satyban Singh of CRPF in an IED blast during a combing operation at Odisha-Jharkhand border. He has set highest standard of service and courage by sacrificing his life for the security of the country. I pray for the eternal peace of the martyred jawan and express my condolences to the bereaved family,' he said in a post on X.
The incident comes at a time when the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has intensified its fight against Naxals and counter-insurgency operations against cadres of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and other Maoist insurgents in the Red-belt corridor.
Security forces have been targeting hideouts, intercepting movement routesand working to dismantle logistical support networks used by Maoist cadres. The Saranda forest, spread across the Odisha-Jharkhand border, has been facing the brunt of Naxalism for several years.
While security operations have significantly reduced Naxal presence in many areas, pockets like Saranda continue to witness sporadic violence and pose operational challenges toforces deployed on the ground.

AGTF arrests criminal on the run for 10 yrs
Jaipur: Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Churu district arrested Sunil Kumar, a notorious criminal ranked among the top 10 most wanted in the district Sunday. Sunil had a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head. Sunil Kumar, a resident of Dhani Shyopura in the Rajgarh police station area, was named in 13 FIRs across police stations in Churu, Haryana, Nagaur, and Jaipur Rural. Many of these cases involve serious charges. One notable incident in his record dates back to 2009, when he and his family members allegedly attacked a police team during an operation in Dadri Sadar, Haryana. That case was filed under charges including obstruction of govt work. Sunil was absconding for the past 10 years. During this period, he changed his identity and started working as a farmer in Ganganagar area to avoid arrest. SPs from Churu and Jaipur Rural had announced a reward of Rs 15,000 for his capture.

Security forces storm Maoist stronghold in Pachama Dadar, foil key annual meeting in MP
BHOPAL: Back in the late 1990s, two trucks loaded with explosives were looted by armed Maoist cadres in the dense Pachama Dadar forests of southeastern Balaghat district. Nearly three decades later, a prolonged but successful cordon and search operation by anti-Maoist security forces in the same forest on Saturday and Sunday has led to the elimination of four outlaws and the recovery of a truck filled with arms, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), detonators and other belongings. An intensive and ongoing operation by the anti-Maoist establishment, comprising the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), particularly its COBRA teams, the state police's Hawk Force, and teams from the Balaghat and Mandla district police, resulted in two back-to-back encounters on Saturday. The encounters led to the killing of four armed Maoist cadres, including three women, now identified as Suman (Darrekhasa Area Committee), Rita (Tanda Area Committee), Ravi and Imla alias Tulsi (both from the Malajkhand Area Committee). All four carried rewards of Rs 14 lakh each. Among them, Ravi was a key member of the Kanha Bhoramdeo Divisional Committee, a Maoist administrative unit established by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) to expand their presence in the forested areas of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
