Trump: Families of US diplomats left ME due to "potential danger"
Washington-Saba:
US President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that families of US diplomats had left the Middle East due to "potential danger," amid escalating tensions in the region.
In remarks reported by the American Fox News network, Trump said in response to a question about the departure of families of US diplomats due to the escalation with Iran: "They're being taken out now because it could get dangerous, and we'll see what happens, and we've given them a heads-up to get out."
Regarding Iran, Trump added: "They can't have a nuclear weapon, very simple. They can't have a nuclear weapon, and we won't let them."
Last Wednesday evening, a US official told Sputnik: "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has authorized the voluntary departure of military families from locations within the Central Command's area of responsibility."
He added that "US Central Command (CENTCOM) is monitoring the escalating tensions in the Middle East and is coordinating with the US State Department and US allies to provide support to any US mission around the world."
Earlier on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing US and Iraqi sources, that the United States was preparing to evacuate its embassy in Iraq due to "increasing security risks in the region." It is also preparing to evacuate the families of US military personnel in Bahrain.

Govt of Yemen in Sana'a condemns blatant Zionist aggression against Iran
Sana'a - Saba: The Government of the Republic of Yemen in Sana'a early Friday condemned in the strongest terms the blatant Zionist aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which targeted the capital, Tehran, and several provinces. In a statement, the Government of Change and Construction considered the illegitimate and unjustified Zionist aggression against Iran a new episode in the series of Zionist arrogance in the region, backed by American participation in the form of advanced weaponry, logistical support, incitement, and political and media cover. The statement indicated that this aggression came in the wake of a systematic Western escalation against the Islamic Republic of Iran before the so-called International Atomic Energy Agency, which has become a docile tool in the hands of the Zionist entity and its supporters, applying double standards and turning a blind eye to the nuclear arsenal of the "Israeli" entity, which threatens regional security, while pursuing a peaceful program in which Iran adheres to legitimate standards and uses. The statement said, "It is nothing new for the forces of evil to fabricate false pretexts to justify their aggression. Just as America invaded Iraq yesterday under the pretext of weapons of mass destruction, the Israeli enemy is repeating the same scenario today with Iran, using the same broken record about the non-peacefulness of its nuclear program." The Yemeni government in Sana'a affirmed that the unjust sanctions and brutal aggression against Iran are nothing but a desperate American-Israeli attempt within the framework of the maximum pressure policy, aimed at halting their principled and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and leaving Gaza alone to confront the killing and genocide perpetrated by the Zionist entity. The statement noted that the Government of Change and Construction is fully confident that Iranian support for the Palestinian people will not cease, and that the flame of support for the resistance will not be extinguished under any pressure, threat, sacrifice, or loss. It stated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as we have always known it, will continue to support and aid all the oppressed and will continue working to stop the crime of the century being committed by the Zionists and Americans in Gaza and Palestine." While the Government of Change and Reconstruction expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the people, leadership, and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for all the martyrs who have ascended during the Zionist aggression against the country, it affirmed its confidence that the Islamic Republic is capable of responding to this aggression and any violation of its sovereignty and the rights of its people. The statement added, "Iran, which has confronted the most powerful forces and withstood siege and threats for decades, is capable today of deterring aggressors and teaching them lessons they will never forget." The Government of Change and Reconstruction held the Israeli occupation entity and its international partners, foremost among them the United States of America, fully responsible for all the serious repercussions and consequences of this aggression at the regional and international levels. It stressed that igniting fires in the region will only burn the fingers of those who set them, and that the arrogance of power will inevitably be shattered on the rock of truth and steadfastness. UNRWA: We lost contact with our colleagues in Gaza due to communication outage
Geneva – Saba: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced that it has lost contact with its colleagues in the Gaza Strip due to the communication outage caused by the Israeli army's targeting. This came in a post by UNRWA on X platform on Thursday, following the announcement by the Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) that all internet and landlines communications services in the Gaza Strip had been cut off after the Israeli enemy targeted infrastructure. The UN agency said: "Contact with our UNRWA colleagues in Gaza has been lost." It continued: "This morning, for the first time in months, we have not received our colleagues' morning messages saying 'Good morning, we are fine/alive.'" UNRWA concluded by saying: "We are eagerly awaiting news of our colleagues." The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced this morning, Thursday, a complete outage of internet and landlines communications services in the Gaza Strip after the last main fiber route was targeted. The Authority said in a statement that the Israeli enemy is escalating digital isolation as a result of systematic targeting of infrastructure, despite repeated attempts to repair severed and alternative routes. It noted that the southern and central Gaza Strip are joining the isolation suffered by the northern Gaza Strip for the second consecutive day. The authority warned that the continued outage threatens to completely cut off the Gaza Strip from the world and impacts relief, health, media, and educational services. It explained that the Israeli enemy has been preventing technical crews from reaching fault sites or repairing cables and alternative routes for months. With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 55,207 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 127,821 others. This is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still under the rubble and on the roads, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue crews. Swedish FM: Israel committing war crime by starving civilians in Gaza
Stockholm – Saba: Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergaard said on Thursday that Israel's use of starvation as a method of warfare against civilians is prohibited and a flagrant violation of international law. During a press conference, Stenergaard added that depriving civilians of food, water, and medicine constitutes a war crime under international law, stressing the urgent need to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. She emphasized that "the situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and it is essential that food, water, and medicine quickly reach the severely affected civilians, most of whom are women and children, who are currently living in completely inhumane conditions." Stenergaard noted that "life-saving humanitarian aid must not be subject to political bargaining or used for military purposes." Last month, Sweden summoned the Israeli ambassador to protest the lack of humanitarian aid for civilians in the Gaza Strip. It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Sweden officially recognized the State of Palestine on October 30, 2014. With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 55,207 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 127,821 others. This is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still buried under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue crews. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
