Cody Brundage UFC Atlanta Media Day
Cody Brundage speaks to the media at Wednesday's media day for UFC Atlanta.
ATLANTA – Cody Brundage met the media Wednesday ahead of his fight at UFC on ESPN 69.
Brundage (11-6 MMA, 5-5 UFC) takes on the unbeaten Mansur Abdul-Malik (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in a middleweight fight on the ESPN main card at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. At media day, Brundage took questions from media members before his fight.
Brundage is the second biggest underdog on the card. If he beats Abdul-Malik, who is as much as a 9-1 betting favorite, it will be one of the biggest upsets in UFC history – literally. But the 31-year-old, who has won three of his past four fights, all by first-round knockout, said the odds don't concern him.
"I'm definitely the most experienced guy he's ever fought – I have more fights in the UFC than he has in his entire career," Brundage told MMA Junkie. "Experience goes a long way. Yeah, he's tough. The tougher the guys I fight, I think it pulls my skills out. The better the guy I'm fighting, all the pressure, it pulls something out of me that makes me be great. I'm just excited for it.
"… He's got a ton of momentum right now, and if you put him in the fire and make him face a little bit of a adversity, he hasn't really been there. He doesn't know how to respond to that, and that's my job Saturday."
Check out Brundage's full media day interview in the video above.

ESPN's Greg McElroy ranks Georgia's defense among nation's best
ESPN analyst Greg McElroy has high hopes for the Georgia Bulldog defense. In his preseason ranking of the top 10 defenses in football, he ranked Georgia fourth. "This might be a little controversial because they were not quite the same last year as they were in year's past," McElroy prefaced. Advertisement Georgia's defense was ranked 23rd in points allowed per game in 2024. That isn't bad, but it's far from the dominance Georgia showed in 2021-23 when the defense never ranked below 5th in points allowed per game. So why does McElroy rank Georgia's defense 4th? "I trust Kirby Smart," McElroy said, "I think he's one of the best defensive minds in the entire country. He creates a culture of physicality and toughness. It's hard to play against this group regularly." There's the question of how Georgia will be able to replace the talent of NFL first-round picks Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, and Malaki Starks. However, McElroy says fans shouldn't be worried about the talent Georgia lost because of UGA's track record. Advertisement "When have you ever been super concerned about the past departures we've seen on Georgia's defense? They've had a lot of guys shuffling in and out of the lineup last year. Yet, they still played pretty good football for most of the year." Georgia was considered one of the biggest losers of the 2025 NFL draft due to losing nine defensive players in the NFL draft. The Bulldogs also lost nine players via the transfer portal. However, McElroy believes Georgia's high-level freshmen and sophomores will be able to fill the holes left by the massive exodus. Only three team defenses ranked ahead of Georgia: Ohio State placed No. 3, Penn State placed No. 2, and SEC rival Texas placed No. 1. Georgia and Texas will play each other in Week 12, and college football fans will see which defense is stronger. Orlovsky: Steelers at Worst Place They Could Be in with Aaron Rodgers
Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes the Pittsburgh Steelers' signing of Aaron Rodgers will keep them in the middle of the pack, which won't bode well for the franchise in the 2026 NFL Draft. 'Worst place they could be in,' Orlovsky said Monday on ESPN's Get Up. 'He's good enough, they're [the Steelers} good enough. They're gonna go 9-8, 10-7. They don't matter in the playoffs and we all known that. And then they're not bad enough to get a top-eight pick and finally find the quarterback of the future. This still is a subpar offensive line. They only really have DK Metcalf on the perimeter. Great, we're gonna be a contending team. Are we really gonna matter? No.' Advertisement No matter what happens in 2025 with Rodgers, the Steelers have more than enough ammunition to make a big splash in the 2026 NFL Draft. They're projected to have 12 picks. The Kansas City Chiefs traded up 17 spots to select Patrick Mahomes at 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, so there are other avenues of landing a franchise quarterback instead of bottoming out. ESPN insider Adam Schefter believes that will make the Steelers the most intriguing team in next year's draft. 'The Pittsburgh Steelers, right now, have an enormous amount of draft capital for the 2026 draft. After this George Pickens trade, they are currently scheduled to have 12 picks in the 2026 draft,' Schefter said on The Adam Schefter Podcast in May. ' … So when you've got all these draft picks and you've got a great quarterback draft and the draft is in your city, all of a sudden it starts to get a little interesting to see where Pittsburgh's going to decide to allocate its draft capital to see if it can make an aggressive push up the board to go get a quarterback, to see what the reaction in that city will be like.' Drew Allar and the Penn State quarterbacks warmup for the Lions conference matchup at Maryland. — Matt Lynch / Nittany Sports Now: The Steelers will face stiff competition for the top quarterbacks in 2026. The Cleveland Browns traded down in the 2025 NFL Draft to accumulate an extra first-round pick in next year's draft. Advertisement However, the 2026 class will likely have more than just one premiere quarterback with Texas scion Arch Manning, Penn State's Drew Allar, LSU's Garrett Nussmeier and Tennessee's Nico Iamaleava currently leading the group. So it's difficult to imagine the Steelers not coming away with a quarterback in next year's draft. The question is: Who will it be? 'Can you imagine what it would be like for a quarterback in the top 10, top five,' Schefter asked. 'Oh boy, that would be off the charts to be in Pittsburgh when that quarterback gets picked.' Aaron Becker contributed reported for this story.
