Gabby Petito's Mom Shares Bombshell 'Information' About Brian Laundrie's Parents' Alleged Attempt To Protect Him

Yahoo22-04-2025

Gabby Petito's mother, Nichole Schmidt, has made new claims about her late daughter's killer, Brian Laundrie, and his family.
During a podcast appearance, Schmidt said that Brian's room was completely renovated while Gabby was presumed missing by the police.
Gabby Petito's mother has since accused Roberta Laundrie of lacking remorse and being the "mastermind" behind shielding her son, Brian Laundrie.
In an appearance on Taylor Lautner and his wife Tay's podcast, "The Squeeze," Gabby Petito's mother, Nichole Schmidt, made a startling revelation while recounting the events surrounding her daughter's disappearance.
Sharing "new information" she had only just learned, Schmidt claimed that someone who had been inside the Laundrie family home while Brian Laundrie was reportedly "missing" claimed that his bedroom had been entirely cleared out and renovated.
"I actually just found out some new information a few days ago," she said, per the New York Post. "There was — I actually don't know their name, which is better — that was at the house when Brian was missing and — I would say he was hiding, he wasn't missing, but he was actually dead — but his room was completely gutted and renovated. None of his things were there anymore. It was gone."
Schmidt added: "Cops were going to their house to try to get, I guess, a scent from their dogs to look for Brian, all his things were gone. The room was completely empty, just gone."
According to Schmidt, the unidentified person expressed serious concern about Roberta Laundrie's behavior, describing her as visibly unwell.
"They said that there's something wrong with that mother, she's clearly not mentally well, and I'm like that's just add it to the list because I didn't even know about that," she recalled.
Schmidt also expressed her ongoing frustration, saying she often feels helpless when thinking about ways to hold the Laundries accountable.
She shared that it drives her "absolutely insane" when she tries to think of any way to make them "pay for what they did."
"There is really nothing I can do," Schmidt noted.
Despite the pain of her daughter's passing, Schmidt shared a powerful message of healing while speaking at CrimeCon 2024 in Nashville.
Standing before the audience, she said, "I speak for myself here when I say, Brian, I forgive you."
Schmidt continued, "I needed to release myself from the chains of anger and bitterness, and I refuse to let your despicable act define the rest of my life."
Even though she forgave Brian, Schmidt didn't hold back when addressing his mother, Roberta.
She accused her of being the driving force behind a calculated effort to shield her son after Petito's death.
"Roberta, and I call you out individually because you are evidently the mastermind that shattered your family and mine with your evil ways, I see no empathy in your eyes," Schmidt said. "No remorse in your heart and no willingness to take responsibility for your actions."
Schmidt and her family have long believed the Laundries knew Brian had killed Petito and actively helped him avoid facing consequences.
According to court depositions, both Roberta and Chris Laundrie admitted they became concerned about Gabby's well-being after Brian called home acting strangely in the days following the murder.
Brian eventually returned alone to Florida, driving the van he and Gabby had traveled in. Her remains were later discovered in Wyoming, where he had left her behind.
According to the Daily Mail, Roberta wrote a letter to her son Brian, seemingly offering to help him "bury a body."
The undated note, labeled "burn after reading," was discovered in Brian's backpack after his remains were found at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in Florida.
He died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after confessing to Petito's murder in a notebook found alongside his remains.
Attorney Patrick Reilly, who represented the Petito family, revealed in court that the letter was in FBI custody and contained chilling language indicating Roberta's willingness to help her son evade prison.
She allegedly wrote that she would "bring a shovel" and assist in hiding a body.
Although Roberta claims the letter was written before Gabby and Brian left on their trip, Petito's family said the content left them "sick to their stomach."
Gabby's parents have since taken steps to prevent the white camper van she traveled in with Laundrie from becoming a morbid collector's item.
Speaking to NewsNation, they shared that they decided to have the van destroyed, with her father, Joe Petito, stating, "We crushed the van. We didn't want the van to be out there and someone owning the van and then saying, 'Here's the van that Gabby was…' So, we had it crushed."
Despite this, he and Gabby's stepmother, Tara Petito, retained the gasoline cap and a sticker from the Great Smoky Mountains as personal mementos.
Meanwhile, Gabby's mother, Nichole Schmidt, shared that she has forgiven Laundrie for her daughter's death, stating, "I have forgiven Brian, and I know that's what Gabby would have wanted, and I'm moving forward so that I can help other people."
She added, "I don't think everyone has to forgive. They can when they're ready, or they might never be ready. But for me personally, I needed to forgive to let that anger go."

AOC, Grace Meng tapped to do more as open-air prostitution, rampant criminality returns to NYC's ‘Market of Sweethearts'

QUEENS, N.Y. – The red lights are back flashing along a notorious prostitution strip in New York City represented by progressive Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Grace Meng. Along the crammed, grimy sidewalks of Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, sex workers are once again openly soliciting clients while vendors grill meats and hawk suspected stolen or counterfeit goods – despite police waging a months-long crackdown to stop the chaos. Advertisement It's become a way of life – and a years-long blight – for residents in the migrant-dense neighborhood who say they have grown tired of calling on Ocasio-Cortez and Meng to act and liken conditions to a 'Red Light district' or a third-world flea market. Others have nicknamed the strip the 'Avenue of the Sweethearts,' given its reputation for women purportedly turning tricks 8 Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Zohran Mamdani take part in the annual Puerto Rican day parade on Sunday afternoon. LP Media 'All the criminal activity has reverted to the way it was last year,' Ramses Frias, a local activist and Republican City Council candidate, told Fox News Digital. 'Our residents feel like prisoners in their own homes while criminals walk freely, preying on helpless victims.' Advertisement He said gangs like the 18th Street gang and Tren de Aragua are suspected of operating in the area since various spots are graffiti – tagged with their insignia. Fox News Digital visited Roosevelt Avenue after Ocasio-Cortez's town hall last month and witnessed as many as 30 women on one block appearing to offer sex for money to Friday night revelers while parents and children walked by. 8 New York Post cover from July 30th, 2023. Advertisement The women were jostling men and enticing them for sex despite a visible police presence nearby. Most women operate on Meng's side of the strip; the majority of vendors are on Ocasio-Cortez's side, with their district border running through the center of the street. Hours before the town hall, other sidewalks were jammed with vendors flogging counterfeit Apple headphones and watches and tools. Food vendors sizzled meats at vendor stalls and kept juices in massive, unlabeled canisters under the gritty subway underpass – devoid of any labels or apparent sanitation or health and safety standards. Fruit and ice-cream stalls also permeated the busy strip. Fox News Digital returned to the neighborhood on Friday and witnessed much of the same rampant prostitution and illegal vending. Additionally, several women were threading eyebrows along a sidewalk on a commercial street just off Roosevelt Avenue, while men were selling sneakers from cars and other food vendors were seen dumping wastewater down drains. 8 Women believed to be sex workers or prostitutes, standing in front of storefronts on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, NY. For the New York Post Advertisement Residents have warned for months that Operation Restore Roosevelt – a 90-day enhanced police crime crackdown on the area which started in October – needed to be made permanent and that the warming weather would likely see more scantily-clad women appear on the streets. NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry told Fox News Digital that the boots-on-the-ground operation, which consisted of more than 200 additional police officers, reduced crime by 29% in the area so far this year and significantly reduced criminal activity. 'There has been a notable difference,' Daughtry said. 'Robberies are down 23%, felony assaults are down 33%, burglaries are down 47%, and grand larceny is down 30%.' 8 15 brothels out of 30 court filings have been raided. For the New York Post Daughtry said he wants the work to have 'a real, lasting difference,' while saying that a lot still needs to be done. He said 15 brothels were raided out of 30 court filings made by the police. For instance, days after Ocasio-Cortez's town hall, authorities shut down a notorious brothel, dubbed the 'bodega brothel' by locals, which was operating above a corner store near two schools in Ocasio-Cortez's district. Video from inside the cat house obtained by Fox News Digital shows squalid conditions, with five cramped, makeshift rooms sectioned off by wooden panels and shower curtains with just enough room to fit a bed in every one of them. On Tuesday, two brothels were raided by police on Meng's side of Roosevelt Avenue, the same block where Fox News Digital observed 30 alleged prostitutes. Frias said a large crowd gathered to watch the sweep, some heckling the alleged johns as they were cuffed and taken into custody while suspected prostitutes were led out with their heads covered in shower curtains to shield their identities. 8 Meng described the situation as 'concerning' and claims to be working with local law enforcement. Getty Images Advertisement Frias said the crowd reaction proved the neighborhood is fully aware of the illicit activity and is fed up, but that three to four other brothels are operating on that same block. Frias added that residents are terrified to walk the streets and would rather stay home than step outside. 'Our laws need to become stricter, and it's time to elect representatives who have the best interests of the community and its safety as a priority,' said Frias, who's looking to oust City Council member Shekar Krishnan in District 25. He blasted Ocasio-Cortez in particular, saying she has never used her massive social media presence to address the dire situation. Daughtry, too, called on Ocasio-Cortez and Meng to do more. He and the mayor's office said the pair did not collaborate with them in the police crackdown. 'Never seen her,' Daughtry said about Ocasio-Cortez. 'She's never reached out to us. We would really love her assistance to help us, but at the end of the day, we have to do what's right and restore some law and order back to Roosevelt. I would like AOC to partner with us… use her platform to help us get funding or connect women to services.' Advertisement 8 Activist Ramses Frias called Ocasio-Cortez out for not using her massive social media presence to address this issue. Kevin C Downs forThe New York Post Daughtry said issues like prostitution have permeated the area for decades, and he remembers it being a hot spot for prostitution in the '90s. He said the migrant crisis exacerbated the situation as many migrants were drawn to the area, given that it already has a large Latin American population. Mayor Eric Adams spearheaded Operation Restore Roosevelt in collaboration with the NYPD and City Council member Francisco Moya, a moderate Democrat who has often been at odds with his party's progressive wing. Daughtry said Moya was a 'huge partner' who physically walked Roosevelt Avenue with him and participated in raids, as did Adams. Adams' office said the operation underscored the administration's commitment to 'making sure these crime and quality-of-life issues continue to improve.' Advertisement 8 Operation Restore Roosevelt has continues to try and restore the community. For the New York Post Meng, meanwhile, told Fox News Digital she is working with local law enforcement and Moya on the matter and described the situation as 'concerning.' Ocasio-Cortez's office told Fox News Digital that she has engaged with local stakeholders in the area and helped fix lights in the neighborhood. The situation on Roosevelt Avenue was not raised by Ocasio-Cortez at her town hall, nor by constituents who spoke in a question-and-answer portion. Advertisement Residents Andrew Sokolof Diaz and John Szewczuk told Fox News Digital outside the event that the Roosevelt Avenue problem is a long-standing issue and that local lawmakers must do more to address it. 8 The situation on Roosevelt Avenue was not raised by Ocasio-Cortez at her town hall, nor by constituents who spoke in a question-and-answer portion. For the New York Post Resident Mark LaVergne pinned much of the blame on Ocasio-Cortez for not doing more and said he felt many of the women were likely trafficked into that murky underground world. 'I feel very sad… There's a Dunkin' Donuts I frequent on Roosevelt and 82nd Street and I noticed that above that there is some sort of thing going on, and I see the look in the eyes of these sex workers,' LaVergne said. 'I really feel sorry for them. Some of them are here, probably under difficult situations. Maybe they were forced here, maybe they're forced to do this kind of work. You've got to take care of the people that'll get you elected. I mean, that just seems like the most just thing. That's justice. Taking care of the people who got you elected.'

'Don't Say No To Me': Diddy's Ex-Girlfriend Reveals The Lewd Demand He Made That Left Her 'Upset'

Sean "Diddy" Combs returned to court for the fifth week of his trial after he was accused of coercing several women to partake in drug-fuelled orgies known as "freak offs." In the latest testimony by the rapper's ex-girlfriend, she detailed the depraved demands he made of her during their time together. Several purported texts shown to jurors also revealed that Sean "Diddy" Combs' ex-girlfriend told him several times that she wanted out of freak-offs. As court session resumed on Monday for yet another week of Diddy's sex trafficking trial, an ex-girlfriend of his returned to the witness stand where she narrated how the embattled music mogul made several depraved demands from her. The social media influencer who is testifying anonymously as a "Jane Doe" previously accused Diddy of beating her and forcing her to have unprotected sex with porn stars and escorts during their 3-year relationship. She also described "hotel nights," which were nights where Diddy made her take part in alleged drug-fueled sexual encounters with him. During her testimony on Monday, she revealed that the "Finna Get Loose" rapper would usually demand she send him X-rated videos while he was with other girlfriends of his. According to the New York Post, she described how she received messages from him pressuring her to send clips of herself "being a bad girl." Jane said she got "upset" and pushed back against his request because he was with another woman, but Diddy wouldn't stop insisting. "Just do what I say please, I'm horny," an August 2023 text shown to jurors alleged. "Stop it, don't say no to me, please," Diddy wrote in a follow-up message. Elsewhere during her testimony, the social media influencer described how she had told Diddy several times that she no longer wanted to be involved in his alleged "freak offs." "I don't want to be used and locked in a room to perform and fulfill your fantasies," Jane wrote in a September 2023 text to the rapper. "I'm coming to the realization of what this really is." "I don't want to feel obligated to keep performing these nights with you for the fear of losing the roof over my head," she said in another message that month. However, Diddy seemingly paid lip service to her concerns, replying to her in a voice message complaining about being "sick in bed." "This is a true open relationship, why do you have to make it a problem," he added in a harsh manner. Things got so emotionally intense for "Jane Doe" that she sobbed uncontrollably while reading out the texts between her and the "I'm Coming Home" rapper. Diddy's famous ex Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura has previously accused him of making her take part in sexual activities with different male escorts, a testimony which his anonymous accuser seemingly corroborated during the court session on Monday. In one of her texts to the rapper, Jane described how she begged him to stop having drug-fuelled sexual encounters with her and other male escorts, declaring, "I'm not a porn star. I'm not an animal." "Our experiences are desensitizing sex for me," the woman wrote in another October 2023 exchange, per the New York Post. "I need a break. I don't want to do anything, I've hit a wall," Jane continued over text. "I can't be used like this anymore. I just wanted to make you happy, but it's creating a war inside me," she added in another message. Visibly moved to tears, she told jurors while reading out the texts that she was "referring to not wanting to give my body to anybody else, period." Diddy has been accused of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. However, he continues to maintain his innocence and denies any of such wrongdoing. Last week, jurors heard testimony from Cassie's friend Bryana "Bana" Bongolan, in which she claimed the "Bad Boy For Life" rapper dangled her off a 17th-floor balcony in September 2016. Questions were raised over some portions of her testimony as she couldn't remember details of the alleged incident, including what drugs she was on at the time. In a letter filed on June 7 in the Southern District of New York, Diddy's lawyers argued that the prosecution knowingly presented false testimony to the court, thereby pushing for a mistrial, according to Fox News. In Diddy's team's letter, they noted: "When the introduction of perjured testimony results in a criminal conviction, and 'the prosecution knew or should have known of the perjury, the conviction must be set aside 'if there is any reasonable likelihood that the false testimony could have affected the judgment of the jury." "Moreover, 'the prosecutor's knowing use of perjured testimony can violate the Due Process Clause even if it only undermines a witness's credibility,'" they continued. Diddy's attorneys added that Cassie and Bana each provided "demonstrably false" evidence about the balcony allegation to the court, and then "doubled down, using this false testimony to obtain a ruling admitting inadmissible hearsay evidence about it as well, all to present a false narrative to the jury."

Accused Gilgo Beach serial killer still a ‘hero' in wife's eyes

The wife of accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is still calling her husband her 'hero,' and has fallen in love with him all over again after her first jail visit. Asa Ellerup, 61, is convinced police have the wrong man and her 'wonderful' husband isn't the person who murdered and mutilated seven sex workers in Long Island, N.Y., over nearly three decades. 'I know what bad men are capable of doing,' she said during an interview on upcoming Peacock docuseries The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets. 'I've seen it, and I've heard it from other men. Not my husband. You have the wrong man,' Ellerup continued, according to the New York Post. 'I want him to come back home to me,' she said. 'They're trying to sit there and tell me that, but I have no knowledge of what they keep talking about,' she maintained. ''Oh, you must have known.' Know what? My husband was home here. He's a family man, period.' Heuermann was arrested in July 2023 at his NYC office and charged with the murders of three young sex workers. He was later charged by Suffolk County prosecutors with the murder and mutilation of four other victims, all also sex workers whose bodies were dumped along Ocean Parkway that spanned nearly 30 years. Despite evidence — including DNA matches to all the victims, hairs from Ellerup and the couple's daughter Victoria — Heuermann's wife insists her husband is innocent. Ellerup met 'tall, dark, handsome' Heuermann when she was 18 and working at a Long Island 7-Eleven and the two shared a platonic bond. 'He's my hero,' the devoted woman said. 'There were times where he was working, but I'd call him, and he would come by and pick me up.' They remained friends, despite both marrying others, but eventually found each other again, a romance blossomed and they wed in Sweden in 1995, and they their daughter was born the following year. Ellerup filed for divorce shortly after her husband's arrest, but their daughter maintained in the documentary that the move was 'to protect the assets,' according to the Post. Despite the filing, Ellerup said she regularly speaks to her husband behind bars. 'I haven't seen him in all this time, and when I went down there, I was excited, and like I was, I don't know, I guess on a first date. You're nervous, you're scared. You don't know how the date is gonna go,' she said. Remains of mom, child found near Gilgo Beach ID'd, though deaths may be unrelated to serial killings Suspect in Gilgo Beach serial killings charged in death of seventh woman New charges for alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer cast scrutiny on man's murder conviction But Ellerup said she hasn't gone to see him in several months and is paranoid about their conversations being recorded behind bars — which makes her afraid to be open with him. 'Telling him that I love him, that will hurt him,' Ellerup said. 'What I want to say to him is, 'I love you, no matter what.' 'But I don't even want to say 'no matter what' because I don't believe he did this.'
