Four people arrested after couple assaulted during terrifying armed burglary
Four people, including two juveniles, have been arrested after a couple in their 60s were subjected to a terrifying ordeal in their home in Co Dublin on Wednesday.
Gardai have launched an investigation into an aggravated burglary which occurred at a property in Shanganagh Cliffs, Shankill at approximately 7.30pm last night.
During the course of the aggravated burglary, four individuals entered the home of a couple in their 60s and assaulted and threatened the couple with a firearm. The four individuals then fled the scene in a vehicle and on an electric bike.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the owner of the home, a man in his 60s, was transported to St Vincent's University Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí also responded to the incident and officers attached to Shankill Garda station conducted a search of the area.
Gardaí subsequently arrested three individuals when they stopped a vehicle and a fourth individual was arrested a short distance away, who was on a electric bike.
During the course of the search of the area, a semi-automatic firearm was recovered.
All four men - one aged in his 60s, one in his 20s and two juveniles - are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at Garda stations in Dublin.
Gardai say that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Two arrested over public order incidents in Dublin
Two people have been arrested following public order incidents in Dublin. Gardaí said they attended a public gathering in the Dublin 8 area around 7pm. They said Luas services and road traffic in the area were disrupted for a period during the gathering. Gardaí said during the gathering, two men, in their 20s and 40s, were arrested for public order offences. The men are being held at a garda station in Dublin. Gardaí said the gathering dispersed peacefully. "An Garda Síochána respects the right of citizens to exercise their constitutional rights subject to statutory provisions, including the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1984 amongst other legislation," Gardaí added.

Gardaí arrest man in his 20s in Finglas after seizing drugs worth an estimated €119,000
A man in his 20s was arrested after gardaí seized drugs with an estimated value of €119,000 in west Dublin on Friday. Gardaí from the Dublin Crime Response Team carried out a search in Finglas as part of a continuing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs. During the course of the search gardaí seized cannabis herb valued at €114,940, cocaine with an estimated value of €3,010, and ketamine valued at €1,500. Gardaí also seized €9,500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, along with drugs paraphernalia. READ MORE A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested and is currently being detained under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in Dublin. The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for examination and analysis. Investigations are continuing.

Staff at Dublin prison seize contraband after deliveries intercepted
VASTS AMOUNTS OF contraband has been seized in one Irish prison as part of a wider crackdown on the smuggling of drugs, mobile phones and weapons into facilities nationwide. Gardaí are currently cooperating with the Irish Prison Service in a new operation which seeks to dismantle the delivery of illegal substances and other contraband into prisons, which officers say is becoming a daily challenge. Staff at Wheatfield Prison in Dublin this week witnessed an individual throw a number of packages over the walls of the facility, sparking a response from the Operational Support Group – a special response unit within the prison service. Tablets and cannabis resin seized by prison officers in Wheatfield, Dublin last week. Irish Prison Service Irish Prison Service Cannabis resin, tablets and mobile phone devices, along with charges and sim cards, were recovered inside packages at the prison on 7 June. In a separate incident, tablets, cannabis herb and miniature 'fob' phones were also recovered. In total, €37,000 worth of contraband was seized in the deliveries, the prison service claims. A memorandum of understanding between Irish prison management and garda headquarters, recently signed between the two agencies, has increased cooperation in order to clamp down on increased deliveries.
