Xbox Handheld Console Finally Revealed, After Years Of Speculation
Microsoft ends years of speculation with a Switch-like device for its 34 million subscribers.
After more than a decade of speculation, Microsoft has finally unveiled its first handheld Xbox-branded console, the ROG Xbox Ally, developed in partnership with ASUS. The announcement came during the company's gaming showcase this past weekend, just days after Nintendo launched its new Switch 2.

The Xbox Ally will be available in two versions: a base model and a higher-specification Xbox Ally X. Both are expected to arrive by the end of 2025, although Microsoft has not yet disclosed pricing.
Both models will run on Windows and offer access to the full Xbox Game Pass library, along with games from other PC platforms such as Steam, Battle.net, and Ubisoft Connect. Microsoft is pitching the device as much as a portable gaming PC as it is a handheld console, which could appeal to Game Pass subscribers and PC gamers seeking greater flexibility.
The base version features a 7-inch 1080p screen, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. The X version upgrades this to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, along with a more powerful processor and a larger battery. However, the devices are somewhat heavier than the competition: the base model weighs 670 grams, while the X version weighs 715 grams. In comparison, the newly launched Switch 2 weighs 534 grams.

Xbox head of gaming devices, Roanne Sones, told UK broadcaster BBC that the handheld lets users play natively, via the cloud, or by streaming from a console in another room. 'Whether you're at home or on the go, your favourite games should follow you," she said.
Microsoft also announced that 17 new titles will be available on Game Pass from their release date, including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Outer Worlds
The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is also slated for Game Pass, although no support was mentioned for the Switch 2, despite a previous agreement between Xbox and Nintendo.
Fans also received a first glimpse of Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the 2008 PS2 classic. No release date was confirmed.
With the Xbox Ally, Microsoft hopes that Windows-level flexibility and Game Pass integration can give it a competitive edge in a market already dominated by Nintendo and Valve, the UK broadcaster noted in its report.

After Microsoft and Google, protest at Apple event: Male employee unzips jacket to reveal …
A protester claiming to be an Apple employee disrupted the company's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote, briefly interrupting software chief Craig Federighi during his opening remarks. The incident marks the latest in a series of protests targeting major tech conferences. The individual marched onto the stage, unzipped his jacket to reveal a keffiyeh, and held up what appeared to be an employee badge while shouting "I work at Apple." His remarks were largely inaudible to the audience. Security personnel escorted him off the stage after approximately 30 seconds, while Federighi continued his presentation without pause. Tech conferences increasingly targeted by activists The Apple disruption follows similar protests at Microsoft's Build conference last month, where employees interrupted CEO Satya Nadella's keynote and another presentation with "Free Palestine" messages. The pattern suggests growing internal dissent within major tech companies over their business relationships and ethical responsibilities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Video footage of the Apple protest quickly went viral on social media, with users describing it as "one of the boldest WWDC disruptions yet." The timing appeared deliberate, occurring just minutes into Federighi's speech introducing new software features to thousands of developers and media attendees. Apple has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The disruption is likely to prompt a review of security protocols at the company's flagship developer event, which typically maintains tight control over presentations and access.

Protester crashes Apple WWDC 2025 keynote, shocks audience: Watch video
Apple's WWDC 2025 keynote was disrupted by a protestor, briefly interrupting software chief Craig Federighi as he introduced new features. The incident echoes similar protests at Microsoft's Build event earlier this month. The protest lasted around 30 seconds before security removed the individual. The disruption occurred just minutes into Federighi's speech. As per the video shared on social media, the individual entered the stage, unzipped their jacket to reveal a keffiyeh, and held up a badge, claiming to work at Apple, though much of the shouting was inaudible. After about half a minute, security escorted the person off stage and Federighi resumed the presentation without pause. Watch the video below. This incident follows a pattern of protests at high-profile tech events. Just weeks ago, staff at Microsoft's Build conference vocalised 'Free Palestine' messages and criticised the company's involvement with Israeli government contracts. Now, Apple finds itself on the receiving end of similar demonstrations as concerns around tech companies' ethical responsibilities increase. On X (formerly Twitter), videos of the protest went viral within minutes. One user posted the clip from the event, branding it 'one of the boldest WWDC disruptions yet.' Another commented: 'The keffiyeh reveal and badge claim felt like a deliberate challenge, timed perfectly with Federighi on stage.' Mobile Finder: iPhone 17 Air expected to launch later this year Apple has not yet released a formal statement about the disruption. Security protocols at its developer conference are now likely to come under scrutiny. This incident raises new questions about safeguarding major live events while balancing freedom of expression. The protest at WWDC highlights growing pressure on big tech to address global ethical concerns. As demonstrated at Microsoft's Build conference, where internal dissent publicly challenged corporate decisions, similar activism is now surfacing at Apple's showcase events. Observers suggest companies may need to better prepare for these moments, whether during in‑person or live-streamed keynotes, as employees and activists increasingly use tech platforms to press their cases.

ChatGPT boom pushes OpenAI to $10 billion in annual recurring revenue: Report
Less than three years after debuting ChatGPT, OpenAI has reached $10 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR), and is targeting $125 billion by 2029.$10 billion ARR puts OpenAI in the same league as major public SaaS companies—but at warp speed. This figure includes sales from the company's consumer products, ChatGPT business products and its application programming interface, CNBC reported. However, this figure excludes the revenue from existing deal with Microsoft. ET reported in May that OpenAI has agreed to share 20% of its revenue with Microsoft through 2030. The development comes amid reports of increased operational spending. OpenAI spends approximately $700,000 daily to run ChatGPT. This has raised severe concerns about the sustainability of its pricing model specifically when a single query can cost up to $1,000.
