Driver crashes while picking up phone on floor, killing 46-year-old motorcyclist
A 46-year-old man is dead after a crash in Dayton on Saturday.

Around 4:30 p.m. Dayton police were called to 400 block of Watervliet Avenue for a crash with injuries.
A Chevrolet Traverse was traveling southbound on Watervliet Avenue when it crossed over the centerline while 'picking a phone off the floor,' according to a Dayton police crash report.

The Traverse crossed the centerline and hit a Chevrolet Cobalt.
The Traverse also hit a motorcycle being driven by 46-year-old Arthur Peters, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.
Peters died from his injuries at a local hospital.
The drivers of the Traverse and Cobalt were not injured.

Hillsborough County deputies make arrests in shooting that injured teen
The Brief Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office have made arrests in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. Detectives said they found evidence connected to the shooting inside a bedroom belonging to a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. A 38-year-old man was also arrested for driving with a suspended license when deputies said they found him driving the vehicle linked to the suspected shooter. PROGRESS VILLAGE, Fla. - Two teenage felons have been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a teenager on Wednesday. The backstory According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the area of South 81st Street and Fir Drive shortly before 12:40 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When they pulled the vehicle over, deputies said the driver, Antonio House, 38, was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license. Dig deeper A search warrant was executed where House was staying and that's where deputies said they recovered multiple guns. According to HCSO, a Glock .40 caliber handgun recovered from inside the home was ballistically matched to the casings recovered at the scene of the shooting. The HCSO Firearms Laboratory conducted the analysis and confirmed the connection between the gun and the crime scene. Both were taken into custody. The 17-year-old has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and resisting an officer without violence. House was charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery great bodily harm or deadly weapon firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and resisting an officer without violence. What they're saying "We will not allow our neighborhoods to become places of violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This kind of behavior has no place in our community. We remain committed to protecting our residents and ensuring that violent offenders are held fully accountable." Man hides from police in retention pond after he ‘went to get a soda'
A man was arrested by police in a retention pond on Friday morning. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Around 430p.m., officers were checking on a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the WestSpring Inn in Westlake, CBS-affiliate WOIO reported. They saw a man driving around and stopped to talk with him. He told officers he was staying at the hotel. The man, who was found partially submerged in the retention pond with his hands under the water, was taken into custody. The man was charged with failure to comply and resisting arrest. Porn shown in high school class in Henry County
Parents were shocked to discover pornography was shown during an online class for high school students. Police have launched an investigation. 'This is serious. Serious. And we need to get to the bottom of it,' parent Yolanda Pressley told Channel 2's Tom Jones. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Parents were stunned to hear Union Grove High students in a summer school online class received a lesson inappropriate for their young eyes. 'It's not something that should be in schools. More and more stuff happens like this everyday,' parent Derek Lofton said. The Henry County School System sent parents a message saying it is working with police to identify the individual who shared an inappropriate video in an online class. A spokesperson stated that technical information has been provided to the police to assist in the investigation, and the responsible person will be handled accordingly. 'Well they should take it as a serious matter, because it is,' Lofton said. Lofton said one of his daughters, who attends Union Grove High, informed him and his wife that pornography was shown. He hopes it wasn't a child who shared it as a prank. 'If it was a child we definitely have to raise them better than that. I don't know what to say. That's just a shame,' he said. Another parent said that pornography was displayed during his son's virtual math class at Union Grove High. Pressley, a longtime PTA volunteer, said the inappropriate video can be traumatizing to students. She said the school system needs to get to the bottom of how this happened. 'If someone got into the system we need a solution. How can we prevent that,' she said.
