VIDEO: ‘Israel' honors Mossad agents behind pager blasts targeting Hezbollah
'Israel' publicly honored three operatives from the Mossad intelligence agency during this year's Independence Day celebrations for their involvement in a covert operation targeting Hezbollah.
The agents were recognized for their role in a 2024 operation that resulted in the detonation of pager and radio devices reportedly used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon.
The three agents, whose identities remain classified, appeared masked and were referred to only by their initials during the ceremony. The recognition marked an unusual public acknowledgment of a Mossad operation.
The explosions, which occurred in September 2024, were reported to have happened in two waves—affecting pagers and radio devices—and resulted in several fatalities and over 3,000 injuries. Many of the injuries involved damage to the eyes. Fires were also reported in residential buildings and vehicles as a result of the blasts.
Due to wildfires near Jerusalem, parts of the Independence Day ceremony were conducted through pre-recorded video messages. One agent, who identified as a Mossad operations commander and a mother of three, said one of her children was serving in Gaza and Lebanon. She stated she was lighting the torch on behalf of Mossad's operational staff.
Another agent introduced himself as a technological leader in Mossad and the child of immigrants from Europe. He dedicated his torch to technology professionals contributing to national security. The third agent identified as an intelligence officer and referenced raising his children with a commitment to national values.
The agents' faces remained covered throughout the ceremony, reflecting the agency's tradition of maintaining secrecy in operational matters.

UK dealer jailed for secret art sales to suspected Hezbollah financier
A British art dealer once featured on BBC television has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison for concealing art sales to a Lebanese collector suspected of financing Hezbollah, a group banned as a terrorist organization in the UK. Oghenochuko Ojiri, 53, who appeared on the BBC show Bargain Hunters and operated a London gallery, admitted to selling nearly 140,000 pounds (USD 190,000) worth of artwork to Nazem Ahmad between October 2020 and December 2021. Ahmad, a high-profile collector based in Lebanon, has been under US sanctions since 2019 over allegations of funding Hezbollah. 'You knew about Ahmad's suspected involvement in financing terrorism and the way the art market can be exploited by people like him,' Judge Bobbie Cheema-Grubb told Ojiri during sentencing at London's Old Bailey court. Ojiri pleaded guilty to eight counts of failing to disclose information under the Terrorism Act—making him the first person in the UK convicted under this specific charge. Prosecutors said the dealer was fully aware of UK sanctions against Ahmad and deliberately hid his identity by altering invoice records and saving his contact under a false name. 'His motivation appears to be financial along with a broader desire to boost his gallery's reputation within the art market by dealing with such a well-known collector,' said Bethan David of the Crown Prosecution Service's Counter Terrorism Division. Ojiri's arrest came in April 2023, coinciding with a UK government announcement of new sanctions against Ahmad. His lawyer described the defendant as 'naive,' noting he was arrested while filming a BBC program. Authorities also seized several valuable artworks, including pieces by Picasso and Andy Warhol, from UK storage facilities linked to Ahmad, in a coordinated operation with US Homeland Security. 'This case should act as a warning to all art dealers that we can, and will, prosecute those who knowingly do business with people identified as funders of terrorist groups,' said Dominic Murphy, who heads the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command.

'Israel' warns of continued strikes on Lebanon until Hezbollah disarmed
'Israeli' Defence Minister Israel Katz on Friday warned that 'Israeli' military operations in Lebanon will persist until Hezbollah is disarmed. His comments came a day after 'Israeli' air strikes targeted southern suburbs of Beirut. 'There will be no calm in Beirut, and no order or stability in Lebanon, without security for the State of Israel,' Katz said in a statement. 'Agreements must be honoured, and if you do not do what is required, we will continue to act — and with great force.' Tensions escalated on Thursday after the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) issued evacuation warnings to residents in the Beirut neighborhoods of Haret Hreik, Hadath, and Burj al-Barajneh, claiming they were preparing to target underground drone-manufacturing sites allegedly operated by Hezbollah with Iranian support. Shortly after the warnings, at least 23 drone and fighter jet strikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut, triggering panic and traffic chaos as civilians rushed to evacuate. According to Israeli media, the assault was the largest on Beirut since the truce and came with prior coordination with Washington. In anticipation of a potential response from Hezbollah, the Israeli military also placed its missile defense systems in northern Israel on high alert.

"Israel" airstrikes Beirut's southern suburbs
Tensions flared once again between "Israel" and Hezbollah on Thursday after the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) issued an evacuation warning to residents of four neighborhoods in southern Beirut, signaling imminent airstrikes on what it described as underground facilities used for manufacturing drones. The message, posted by the IOF on X, urged civilians to leave the targeted areas immediately, claiming Hezbollah's aerial unit was operating drone production centers with backing and funding from Iran. 'Despite the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, the IDF has identified that the Hezbollah aerial unit is operating to produce thousands of UAVs, with the direction and funding of Iranian terrorists,' the statement said. The warning triggered panic among residents, causing massive traffic jams as thousands attempted to flee the densely populated districts. It marked the first evacuation alert in over a month for Beirut's southern suburbs, which suffered extensive damage during the year-long conflict that was paused by a ceasefire in November. There was no immediate response from Hezbollah regarding the accusations or the planned strikes.
