Dakota Johnson spills on dating turn-off after Chris Martin break-up
Fifty Shades of Gray star, Dakota Johnson, has reportedly split up with her partner of eight years, Chris Martin, and has now revealed one of her non-negotiable dating rules
Dakota Johnson has revealed the one rule her partners must stick to in the wake of her breakup with Coldplay's Chris Martin. The Fifty Shades of Gray star, 35, has reportedly called it quits with the Fix You singer, 48, after eight years together.
Dakota, who is currently starring in the flick, Materialists, in which her character boasts several love interests - including Marvel star, Chris Evans - was pretty clear about the one thing her prospective partner must not be as she opened up about her expectations. Speaking to Craig Melvin on the June 9 episode of Today, she stated: 'Just, like, not an a**hole.' Chuckling, Chris, who was seen looking cosy with Dakota during the New York premiere of their film on the weekend, replied: "That's concise. There it is. Nail on the head.'
Dakota's blunt reply comes amid reports that she and Chris Martin have called it a day. On June 4, it was reported that the couple—who first sparked dating rumours in 2018—had gone their separate ways.
The actress' rep was forced to deny break-up rumours back in August 2024 and then almost a year later, Dakota was seen out in New York without her engagement ring.
Neither Dakota nor Chris has confirmed or spoken about the reports yet, but a source has claimed that the rumoured split has been "painful" for the daughter of Melanie Griffiths. Speaking to the Sun, they revealed: "Dakota wanted this relationship to work.
"She not only loves Chris, but his two kids, and that loss feels incredibly painful. The decision to end things was amicable, but Dakota is finding it hard.
"Over the past year, it became clear that their relationship had stalled and wasn't moving forwards."
However, Chris—who shares kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex Gwyneth Paltrow—is still supporting his ex as he encouraged them to see her new film.
During his June 1 Coldplay show in California, he told the crowd, 'Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other. Don't forget to see Materialists!'
Dakota was seen looking very cosy with her Materialists co-star at the New York City premiere of her new movie on Saturday night.
While she attended the event and posed for photos, the actress had Chris Evans' arm tightly wrapped around her waist.
Dakota looked in high spirits as she stood in front of the cameras with the Marvel star, but it wasn't him she locked lips with. In the absence of Pedro Pascal, who also stars in the film as the actress' 'perfect match', she held up a cardboard cut-out of her on-screen love interest and kissed his photo instead.

The real reason Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin split as insider reveals what finally made her walk away
Dakota Johnson was ready to walk down the aisle — but Chris Martin wasn't, and it cost them their relationship. The nepo baby actress, 35, and the Coldplay frontman, 48, began dating in 2017, got engaged years later, and on June 4, it was revealed they had quietly called it quits. A source told 'Their relationship has been over for a long time, they just haven't been able to figure out how to make it official.' As fans spiraled over the A-list breakup, another insider revealed the real reason behind the split on Tuesday: Martin's cold feet. 'She was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding,' a source told Page Six. The news comes just days after Martin sparked speculation with a cryptic shout-out to Dakota at Coldplay's Las Vegas show on Friday. 'Thank you so much everybody,' the Paradise singer said to the sold-out crowd at Allegiant Stadium, before unexpectedly referencing Johnson's latest film. 'Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other,' he admonished before adding, 'Don't forget to see Materialists! We love you!' in video shared by Deuxmoi. While the person who shot the video seemed to think the promotion meant 'THEYRE NOT BROKEN UP,' others disagreed. 'I can totally seeing him supporting her even after the break up,' another stated. 'You can breakup with someone and still be supportive. Look at him and GP,' said one fan, referring to the hitmaker's successful relationship with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. 'I mean, didn't he help pioneer conscious uncoupling?' asked a fan, referring to the way Martin and Paltrow formally parted in 2014, although their divorce was not finalized until two years later. Reps for the pair have not officially confirmed their split. Last week, source said the 50 Shades of Grey star 'held a flame for them to be together because she loved him so much and loved his kids so much.' The insider continued: 'Dakota is devastated that she isn't going to be around his kids as much anymore, but wants them to know that she is always there for them.' They added that there is a chance the pair may reconcile but 'right now, being separated will do wonders if they were to have any type of future together.' DailyMail first reported trouble between the pair in August 2024 but a rep later confirmed they were still together. The pair had a brief rumored split in 2019 which was alleged to be over Martin pushing for them to have children, but they quickly got back together. Martin famously split from Paltrow the mother of his two children Apple, 21, and Moses, 19, in March 2014 after ten years of marriage. The then-Hollywood power couple described their separation at the time as a 'conscious uncoupling' and had their divorce finalized in July 2016. Martin was reported to be in an on-and-off relationship with actress Annabelle Wallis before they split in August 2017. He was first seen with Dakota at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles in October 2017 when they were reported to be 'cozy, laughing and affectionate'. Dakota, the daughter of Don Johnson, 75, and Melanie Griffith, 68, was spotted a month later at a Coldplay concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, leading to fans posing social media pictures of her enjoying the show. The couple were seen out on more dates around Los Angeles in early 2018. But it was nearly a year later that they made their first openly public appearance together at Stella McCartney's Autumn 2018 Collection show in LA. Dakota appeared to confirm her relationship with Martin in an interview with Tatler in September 2018 when she said: 'I'm not going to talk about it, but I am very happy.' The following November, she is said to have met Paltrow, her new husband Brad Falchuk, and Martin's children at a Thanksgiving dinner A source told PEOPLE at the time: 'They're a total modern family and had a great time celebrating together.' The couple were spotted again with Paltrow and Falchuk on the beach in the Hamptons, New York, in August 2019. Paltrow opened up about her ex-husband's relationship with Dakota in a 2020 interview with Harper's Bazaar, describing how the actress had become part of her family. She said: 'I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.' Johnson gushed over Martin's children in a 2024 interview, saying: 'I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.'

The Odyssey: The full cast for Christopher Nolan's Greek epic
With filming for The Odyssey now well under way, it is clear that one way director Christopher Nolan is hoping to impress audiences is with its all star cast. As Odysseus, Matt Damon will lead the huge ensemble cast which Nolan has assembled to bring the Greek epic to life. The American actor, who has worked with the director twice before, will be joined by stars including Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya and many, many more. Considering Nolan's penchant for recruiting those he has previously worked with, several cast members have appeared in his earlier films such as Elliot Page and Robert Pattinson, as well as Josh Stewart whose role in The Odyssey marks his fourth time working with the director. Set for release next year, the fantasy film adapts Homer's epic poem which follows the tumultuous journey of Greek champion Odysseus as he returns home after the Trojan War. It is Nolan's first film since the release of Oppenheimer, which won Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards, and reportedly his most expensive yet. Filming began earlier this year, with crews spotted at Findlater Castle in Moray earlier this month. The castle, which is located along the Moray Firth, will be closed to the public until July 25. Without further ado, here is The Odyssey cast in full – including who they are rumoured to play. 1 .
