Nine injured in Ryanair emergency landing in Germany
A Milan-bound Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing in southern Germany because of heavy turbulence from a thunderstorm late on Wednesday, with police saying nine passengers were injured.
According to a statement by police in Bavaria, weather conditions prompted the pilot to initiate an emergency landing in Memmingen, about 70 miles (113 km) west of Munich.
While the plane landed safely, nine people between the ages of two and 59 were injured in the air turbulence, police said.
A woman sustained a head injury, her two-year-old toddler suffered bruises and another 59-year-old woman complained of back pain, with all three receiving hospital treatment, the statement said. Other injuries were treated on site.
The airline is organising a bus transfer to Milan because local aviation authorities did not clear onwards flights from Memmingen, police said.

IndiGo flight from Delhi diverted due to unusual bird movement at Pune airport
Pune: An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Pune on Thursday morning had to be diverted to Surat allegedly due to the presence of birds near the runway area. The flight (6E-2471) had taken off from Delhi at 4.54am instead of its scheduled time of 4.40am and was set to touch down in Pune at 6.45am. Sources in the airport said that the flight reached Pune airport but could not land because of the presence of birds around the runway area. The aircraft, an A-320 with more than 100 flyers, hovered around the airport for around 20 minutes before heading to Surat as it had less fuel, sources said. Airport director Santosh Dhoke was yet to reply to a WhatsApp message on the matter at the time of going to press. Many WhatsApp messages sent to IndiGo also failed to yield any response. Sources in the airline said that one needed to contact Airport Authority of India and Air Traffic Control (ATC) in case of bird activities. ATC of Pune airport is managed by the Indian Air Force. Every aircraft while flying to a destination has a flight plan that includes a secondary airport on which it would land in case of problems or emergencies. If the destination of any aircraft might be hit by rough weather as the pilot sees, extra fuel is taken and in that case, load factor comes into play which includes deboarding luggage of passengers and cargo too. On May 20, a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight from Pune faced a major delay, resulting in passengers sitting inside the aircraft for around six hours, due to various reasons, including unusual bird activity in the airport. Commuters alert: Noida-Greater Noida Expressway partially closed for pipeline work till Monday
Commuters alert: Noida-Greater Noida Expressway partially closed for pipeline work till Monday NOIDA: Commuters travelling from Pari Chowk in Greater Noida to Delhi's Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, ITO via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will face traffic congestion this weekend as Noida Authority and traffic police will impose diversions near the Bird Feeding Point, close to Dalit Prerna Sthal, to facilitate repairs of underground water pipes. The pipes have been damaged and they need urgent repairs. Meanwhile, there will be no diversion on the Delhi-Noida-Greater Noida arm of the Expressway. The diversion will be enforced from 9 pm on Friday until 4 am on Monday. Lakhan Singh Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), said that an 800 mm diameter water pipe is damaged at this location. The underground pipe lies nearly 10 metres from the central verge. "To carry out the repair work, a section of the main carriageway — about 5 metres wide and 30 metres long — will be closed from Friday night until Monday morning," he said. He said that traffic pressure is expected to increase due to this restriction on the main carriageway. The traffic police have advised that commuters travelling from Pari Chowk to Mayur Vihar, Akshardham, and Chilla Border on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to take the Dadri-Chhalera Road (DSC Road) and the Botanical Garden route to avoid inconvenience. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo From Greater Noida, Delhi-bound traffic will also be diverted via Kalindi Kunj and Sarita Vihar. Additionally, the traffic coming from Kalindi Kunj towards Chilla Border and the DND Flyway will be redirected through Sector 37 and the Botanical Garden route. However, emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders will be provided safe passage. The traffic police have urged commuters to use alternative routes and avoid the area during this period. They have also issued a helpline number — 9971009001 — for any assistance. DL Verma, senior manager, Noida Authority, said that the damaged water pipeline has caused leakage and disrupted water supply in nearby areas. "If the pipeline is not repaired promptly, it could further damage even the Noida Expressway. Moreover, with the monsoon season approaching, conducting digging work during rains would be challenging once rainfall starts. Therefore, we have decided to complete the repairs over this weekend to minimise traffic disruption," he said. The officials had placed similar restrictions at this spot in Feb 2025 for repair of underground water pipes. The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is a crucial arterial route connecting the city with Delhi, carrying nearly five lakh vehicles daily — with one lakh vehicles from Kalindi Kunj, two lakhs from DND Flyway, one lakh from Chilla Border, and one lakh from internal sectors.
