One UI 8 Watch leak suggests the Galaxy Watch 8 series may be stuck with an old chip (APK teardown)
Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority
TL;DR One UI 8 Watch is getting new tile previews, and those should include options for Calculator, Buds, and Recorder.
The Quick Button appears to be getting new support for starting and stopping recordings.
Code strings point to the return of Samsung's Exynos W1000 chip .
Samsung's next smartwatches are probably just a few weeks away from making their formal debut, and we've already got a lot to be excited about. Not only are we expecting some exciting new design changes, but we've also got One UI 8 Watch to look forward to, and early discoveries have left us with a lot of useful new features to anticipate. Now we've got a few more to check out, as well as some extra insight into Galaxy Watch 8 hardware.

An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release.
We've already seen how One UI 8 Watch is getting ready to introduce new tile previews, including a new half-size option, and got to look at a whole bunch of examples for how that's taking shape. To those, we can now add a few more:
All three of those look pretty useful, and we love having quick, interactive access to their features like this (Thanks: DevOfIpos). But we've also spotted something that's arguably even better when it comes to Recorder, as it look like Samsung's working to give the Quick Button on the Galaxy Watch Ultra the ability to quickly start and stop recording sessions.
As you can see, that would involve actions for double-press, long-press, and short-press, with the ability to customize exactly which does what. When you've got to remember something super-quickly and don't even want to waste time pulling our your phone, this could be a fantastic way to make a quick audio note before the moment's passed. In addition to supporting the Quick Button on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, we might also expect this to work with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
Finally, we've got what could be a bit of a bummer if you were holding out hope that the next generation of Galaxy Watches might offer some new silicon.
AssembleDebug / Android Authority
Samsung used its Exynos W1000 chip to power the Watch 7 series, which the manufacturer has assigned a part number of SC55535AHA. And here in this code, we can see the same chip being associated with the Fresh 8, Fresh 8 Small, and Wise 8 — the codenames we're already familiar with for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. Considering that we haven't seen Samsung introduce a follow-up to the Exynos W1000 yet, that was pretty much expected, and this is just a bit more evidence in that direction.

LG's first 5K ultra-wide monitor with Thunderbolt 5 is made for data crunchers
LG has announced a new 40-inch Thunderbolt 5 monitor with an ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio, and the company is being very upfront about who it's for: people who love crunching data and want more room to do that. The new LG UltraFine 40WT95UF is designed to 'meet the needs of data-intensive industries such as finance and IT,' according to a release from the company today. But it may still appeal far beyond that, with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for AMD's FreeSync Premium to help reduce screen tearing and flickering. Although LG is promoting the 40WT95UF as the 'world's first 5K2K monitor to support Thunderbolt 5,' it's not the company's first display to incorporate the latest iteration of the high-speed transfer protocol. The company previously announced another UltraFine model with Thunderbolt 5 support at CES 2025 with a 6K resolution. The model announced today features slightly less resolution at 5,120x2,160 pixels, but spread across a much wider panel making it better suited for organizing and laying out multiple windows and applications. Unfortunately, as with the announcement of the 6K display in January, LG hasn't said when its new UltraFine 40WT95UF will ship, how much it will cost, or who will be able to purchase one. LG's press release says the display will help strengthen the company's 'B2B market presence' which could potentially mean this new model won't be sold directly to consumers. Other features of the UltraFine 40WT95UF include both picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture functionality, LG's IPS Black panel technology, and USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort 2.1, and RJ45 ports. When using the monitor's Thunderbolt 5 USB-C port data transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps will be available. LG doesn't specifically say whether Intel's Bandwidth Boost mode is supported, which can boost transfer speeds to up to 120Gbps.

5 rumored iOS 26 features we could see at WWDC 2025
Apple's upcoming WWDC 2025 showcase is going to be a busy one, even though the expected AI-powered software rebirth may not land until next year. In the meantime, reliable sources have spilled the beans on what we might expect for the next major iOS overhaul. Starting with the name, Apple could skip iOS 19 and could go straight from v18 to v26. We are also expecting a design overhaul, something that could draw inspiration from Vision OS. On the functional side, an AI health coach would be a huge draw for fitness enthusiasts. Recommended Videos Now, a 9to5Mac report that cites a reliable source claims that the iOS 26 update could bring some notable changes to Apple's in-house apps. What follows is a quick overview of those murmurs, but take them with the proverbial pinch of salt: Translation in Messages My Messages app is a mix of texts in English, Hindi, Urdu, and the occasional Arabic messages. I am fluent in these languages, but I often run into scenarios where the other person requests an assist with the translation, or both sides seek a back-and-forth with Google Translate. In iOS 26, Apple could assist with the language conundrum. As per the latest leak, the Messages app is getting 'automatic translation of both incoming and outgoing messages' with the upcoming update. It's a lovely convenience, but Apple won't be the first to offer this facility. As part of the Galaxy AI package, Samsung phones have offered a two-way live translate feature that also works with voice calls. Aside from the pre-installed Samsung Messages, it works its magic in WhatsApp and the Google Messages app, as well. On other Android phones, you can highlight the text in any app and use Google Translate. It's not seamless, but at least you don't have to switch apps to see the translated version of the text. It's quite encouraging to see Apple bringing down the language barriers natively within the Messages app. A full-view lock screen makeover Lock screen is a secret functional powerhouse in itself, thanks to widgets and shortcuts. And with the recent customization upgrades in iOS, it has turned into a charming practical playground of its own. iOS 26 could take things to the next level. As per 9to5Mac, Apple is experimenting with animated album art that will cover the entire lock screen. Right now, the album artwork tints the whole lock screen and places a large static cover art in the middle. It looks pretty, but it's not alive. In iOS 16, Apple could add some dynamic flair to the album art on your iPhone's lock screen. We're not sure whether Apple will let users adjust the effects, or even use some AI magic to make their unique styles, but if concept artwork is anything to go by, the leaked change could be a visual treat. iOS 26 is expected to bring full-screen animated album artwork to the Lock Screen. Source: @9to5mac — Beta Profiles (@BetaProfiles) June 4, 2025 AI tools that can create video from scratch are already available in mobile apps like Gemini, and Apple's own Image Playground lets users create fun images using AI. Porting those Apple Intelligence chops and letting users play with live album effects on the lock screen sounds quite appealing. Polls, at last It's pretty wild that iMessage, one of the most widely used chat platforms in the world (and especially in Apple's home market), doesn't offer a poll feature. Third-party communication apps such as Telegram and WhatsApp have offered the polling convenience for years. While the arrival of polls sounds like a small feature update, AI could make it a lot more fun, thanks to Apple Intelligence. 'One possibility is that Messages could automatically suggest the poll structure based on the context of the conversation,' says the 9to5Mac report. Apple Intelligence is already tightly integrated with ChatGPT, so it should be a fairly straightforward exercise to push an AI-powered polls feature in Messages. ChatGPT excels at format conversion, so all Apple needs to do is integrate it within Messages just the way it has built Writing Tools at the system level. I can't wait to create a few fun polls, where debates about who-eats-what on a road trip are turned into polls with a playful language. And while at it, why not give them a fun voice makeover? I'd love to hear one in the voice of Ben Stiller with some loud applause for casting each vote. Notes finally hears the power users I recently played around with a Mac scratchpad called Antinote, which took such a minimalist route to note-taking while turning formatting and conversions into text-based commands. It's a lovely app that fills some crucial gaps in Apple's Notes app. With the arrival of iOS 26 (and hopefully, macOS 26, too), Apple will reportedly fix at least one of the biggest functional holes by enabling Markdown support. Multiple third-party apps have offered the perk for years, and it's pretty surprising to see Apple hasn't paid attention to it yet. If you're used to command-based formatting or HTML-derived tools, Markdown support will come as a huge sigh of relief. For an average user, it may not be a revolutionary addition, but for enthusiasts, it's a pretty big upgrade for their workflow. CarPlay will feel like your phone So far, we've heard rumors of a design overhaul covering Apple's mobile, computing, and wearable software platforms. According to 9to5Mac, CarPlay will also get an aesthetic lift so that iPhone users feel at home with its UI in their vehicles. We're not sure how deep the design refresh goes, but expect to see a focus on translucent theming effects, updated iconography, and floating UI items. Apple began working on a CarPlay overhaul under the 'Project IronHeart' codename and unveiled a new flavor called CarPlay Ultra merely a few weeks ago. The Ultra makeover, however, is exclusive to Aston Martin cars at the moment. For the masses, Apple is apparently cooking up a more generic design refresh that is primarily intended to achieve a unified look across all software platforms. Of course, any feature additions will be more than welcome.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 leaks just tipped launch date, specs and colors
All eyes may be on the just announced Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, but don't forget about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. We just got a bunch of leaks related to these two foldables centering around their possible release dates, specs and color options. Just days ago, rumors pointed at Samsung keeping the prices for its foldable phones unchanged — while today's leak indicates that the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 could launch on July 10. This date is what reliable leaker Ice Universe has shared, but there's debate around it because of time zone differences between South Korea and the east of the U.S. Regardless, this date lines up to the timeframe that a report mentioned back in late April. Additionally, other leaks give us more detail around the Galaxy Z Fold 7's storage and color options. The leaks from WinFuture and tipster Arsène Lupin indicate that the base model would be accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with two additional options: 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 1TB about Galaxy Z Fold 7 colors? The new foldable is tipped to come in black, blue, coral red and silver. Galaxy Z Flip78+128GB12+256GB12+512GBBlue ShadowWhite BlackJune 3, 2025 For Sammy's flip-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the leaks report that it'll come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM — with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. Color options could include black, blue and coral red. Interestingly, there's also mention about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which rumors have been painting as a low cost alternative. In fact, it's tipped to be equipped with only 8GB of RAM and in either 128GB or 256GB storage capacities. While it's shocking to fathom a foldable phone packing 8GB of RAM, this could be one of the trade offs to get its price down to meet Samsung's target. Samsung's coming off the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge and following up after Motorola's release of its Razr 2025 models, so a launch in July for its foldable phones would be enough time to get people excited about these new devices. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Stay tuned to Tom's Guide for all the latest rumors around the Galaxy Fold 7, Flip 7 and Fold Ultra.
