Washington Co. Commission accepts Helene assistance grants
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County Commission authorized the county to accept a series of public assistance grant awards for costs incurred from Hurricane Helene.
The grant funds will allow the county to replenish funds used during and after the storm and assist in future recovery projects.

'These are projects that need to be done regardless of who's paying for it,' Mayor Joe Grandy said. 'I mean, it's roads that are broken, roads that are washed out.'
Grandy said that since the projects are happening fast and the commission only meets once a month, it was better to approve it all at one time.
