Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' A-list guests run for cover as pre-wedding party is ruined by huge freak thunderstorm

Daily Mail10 hours ago

Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' A-list guests like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were forced to take cover on Thursday as the couple's pre-wedding party was hit by a huge thunderstorm.
The lavish event held at Madonna dell'Orto marked the start of the billionaire couple's lavish three-day wedding in Venice, Italy, which will come to a close on Saturday.
However, Thursday night's star-studded soiree was brought to an early end due to the intense downpour.
Guests dived for cover under the vaulted cloisters as lightening bolts flashed across the sky and thunder rumbled overhead at the end of what was a torridly humid day with temperatures nudging 96.8° Fahrenheit.
Torrential downpours and a strong wind left guests soaked as they then dashed for water taxis which had been scrambled a good 45 minutes ahead of the midnight finish time.
The strong gusts of winds whipped table cloths away and sent waiters scurrying for umbrellas to protect the VIP attendees.
One onlooker said:' It just goes to show you can have all the money in the world but you cant control the weather - although an Italian saying says a wet bride is a happy and lucky bride.'
Kim, 44, and her younger sister Khloe, 40, struggled to stay dry in their couture gowns as their security team guided them to their designated water taxi.
Kylie, who is the younger half-sister of Kim and Khloe, reacted to the weather by sharing a photo of her rain-soaked water taxi to her Instagram Story.
Bride-to-be Lauren was surrounded by tuxedo-clad gentleman carrying blue umbrellas over her as she carefully stepped on to her awaiting boat.
The TV personality, 55, had on a striking off-the-shoulder dress with a dramatic gold corset cinching in her already tiny waist.
Bezos, 61 — who popped the question in 2022 with a $3million engagement ring — was seen following closely behind Lauren with an umbrella over his head.
Singer Ellie Goulding was also spotted standing out in the rain as she and a fellow guest waited patiently for their boat.
Bezos and Sanchez are set to tie the knot in Saturday in Venice, Italy after a two-year engagement.
The Amazon billionaire and his bride-to-be are said to have invited 200 people to their three-day Italian wedding, which kicked off on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a copy of the couple's invite was leaked with one very specific request made on behalf of the couple.
They've asked guests not to buy them any presents and told them they'll be making donations to multiple charities working to stop Venice from sinking on attendees' behalf instead.
The star-studded guest list includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, and Tom Brady.
Bezos is worth around $224.6 billion and is thought to be spending tens of millions on his wedding.
'If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax,' one gigantic banner read in St. Mark's Square.
Greenpeace and the UK-based collective Everyone Hates Elon have joined protests in Venice attempting to disrupt, or even prevent, the planned wedding celebrations of Amazon founder Bezos this week.
' Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world yet is reported to pay a 1.1 percent true tax rate,' the two groups said in a joint statement. 'The multi-million-dollar wedding is reportedly happening over three days, with the wedding ring alone worth as much as $5million.'
A spokesperson from Everyone Hates Elon said: 'As governments talk about hard choices and struggle to fund public services, Jeff Bezos can afford to shut down half a city for days on end just to get married.'
Venice mayor Luigi Brugnaro and regional governor Luca Zaia have spoken out in favor of the nuptials, which have been dubbed, 'the wedding of the century,' pointing out that the celebrations are expected to bring $23-34million to local businesses.
'This is a city that handles 150,000 people a day,' Zaia told Italian daily Corriere della Sera. 'George Clooney, François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, Alexandre Arnault, Elton John and many others got married here.'
Bezos has also pledged to make sizable charity donations, including $1.16million to Corila - an academic consortium dedicated to studying Venice's lagoon ecosystem - according to Corriere della Sera and Italy's ANSA news agency.
Earlier this month, anti-Bezos banners were hung in Venice from St. Mark's Tower with 'Bezos' in blue capital letters and a red X over it as part of a 'No Space for Bezos' campaign, a play on Bezos' Blue Origin spaceflight venture.

Coleen Rooney looks incredible in skimpy bikini snaps as she parties with Wayne and his Manchester United pals in Ibiza after winning Wagatha Christie battle

Coleen and Wayne Rooney have been living it up in Ibiza with his Manchester United pals and their Wags - after winning the Wagatha Christie battle. The WAG, 39, took to Instagram on Friday and shared a glimpse into her trip away with their friends. In one snap, Coleen and football star Wayne, 39, were surrounded by their pals in swimwear as they posed for a snap with a drink. Another photo saw the group, which included United stars Michael Carrick and John O'Shea, huddled together for a shot by the beach. Coleen then stunned in a white halter neck maxi dress that showed off her incredible figure before sharing another snap in the pool with the WAGS. She captioned the post: 'Amazing time in Ibiza with great friends.' Their holiday comes hot on the heels of Coleen's rival Rebekah Vardy speaking out on their Wagatha Christie drama. She has claimed she faced 'more scrutiny than murderers and paedophiles' amid the court case. In 2019, the WAG was publicly accused of leaking stories about Coleen to The Sun newspaper, which she furiously denied, resulting in a high profile court battle. Rebekah, 43, suffered further humiliation when she lost her libel case and in a fresh blow last month she was ordered to pay £1,190,000 of Coleen's legal bills. And this week the mother-of-five has claimed the backlash towards her was disproportionate and has continued to protest her innocence. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Rebekah insisted: 'I didn't sell stories to The Sun newspaper and that really is the end of it'. Claiming that she 'got the raw end of that', she continued: 'In fact, I think murderers and paedophiles have faced far less scrutiny than I did.' Yet Rebekah noted that now she's 'at peace' and is looking forward, in particular, to an upcoming Netflix documentary about husband Jamie. She also revealed that she is still in touch with Caroline Watt - her former agent - who she claimed was responsible for leaking the stories behind her back. Caroline was also the owner of a mobile phone filled with evidence that ended up at the bottom of the North Sea - or 'Davy Jones's locker' as it was famously dubbed in court. Rebekah claimed that Coleen's legal team had been 'unfair and completely unjust' in serving paperwork to Caroline's home rather than through her lawyers and that Caroline had been through 'considerable anguish'. Caroline did not testify during the trial, after being deemed 'not fit to provide oral evidence', and is yet to provide comment on the matter. When told that fans would be keen to hear Caroline's side of story, Rebekah mused: 'Well, maybe there's a different version of that completely.' Last month, the six-year legal battle finally came to an end when Rebekah agreed to pay £1,190,000 of Coleen's legal bill, plus was ordered to pay a further £212,266 in assessment costs, after sensationally losing their high-profile libel case. This takes the total Rebekah must pay to at least £1,402,266.20. MailOnline understands she has already paid some of the bill, including £800,000 four years ago and £100,000 last year. Coleen must also pay Rebekah a total of £135,097.50 in costs under the terms of court orders from 2024, which will be set off against what Rebekah must pay. A source close to Rebekah told MailOnline: 'It's a huge relief for Rebekah that this long legal battle is now coming to an end. 'She's looking forward to putting the whole ordeal well and truly behind her. 'Now she's just focusing on the future. And there are some big plans coming up for her now that she just wants to get cracking with.' Coleen ran up a legal bill of more than £1.8 million while successfully defending herself against Rebekah's High Court claim in 2022. After losing their High Court showdown, Rebekah was ordered to pay 90 percent of Coleen's legal costs. Her lawyer previously argued Coleen's team had used a 'kitchen sink' approach when calculating the total and included 'over £120,000 of costs to which Coleen has no entitlement'. It was also claimed the bill included costs for one of the WAG's team to stay at Nobu - a five star luxury hotel - and 'substantial dinner and drinks charges as well as mini bar charges'. The lawyer said Coleen's £1,833,906.89 legal bill was over three times her 'agreed costs budget of £540,779.07'. But Coleen's lawyer, Robin Dunne, had argued it was 'frankly outrageous' to accuse them of dishonesty. The catalyst for the famous Wagatha Christie case was a dramatic open letter written by Coleen and posted on social media in October 2019 in which she revealed she had turned detective to figure out who had been leaking the stories. Coleen publicly claimed Rebekah's account was the source behind three newspaper stories featuring fake details she had posted on her private Instagram profile - her travelling to Mexico for a 'gender selection' procedure, her planning to return to TV and the basement flooding at her home. What followed was a tearful appearance from Rebekah on ITV's Loose Women in February 2020 in which claimed the stress over the dispute had caused her to have anxiety attacks so severe she 'ended up in hospital three times'. The emotional display was met by Coleen with a statement to say she did not want to 'engage in further public debate' on the matter. Four months later, in June 2020, Rebekah began legal proceedings against Coleen for libel with her lawyers alleging she had 'suffered extreme distress, hurt, anxiety and embarrassment as a result of the publication of the post and the events which followed'. When the case returned to the courts in February 2022, a series of explosive messages between Rebekah and her agent Caroline were revealed with Coleen's lawyers alleging they were about her. In May 2022, the women finally came face-to-face in court to give evidence as the Wagatha Christie trial began in the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Coleen secured her victory the next month when Mrs Justice Steyn delivered her verdict, dismissing the claim made by Rebekah and finding Coleen had proved the meaning of her famous accusatory letter was 'substantially true'. Whilst Coleen said she was 'pleased' the judge had ruled in her favour, Rebekah declared she was 'extremely sad and disappointed' at the decision.

Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos's royal wedding guests! Jordan's Queen Rania oozes glamour in a Fendi couture gown in Venice (and she's joined by her cute baby granddaughter Princess Iman)

Queen Rania of Jordan had all eyes on her as she stepped out in a stunning ballgown while celebrating Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos 's wedding. The royal, 54, appeared to be in high spirits as she was helped onto a water taxi in Venice with the other star-studded guests for Bezos' lavish wedding bash. She stepped out in a regal Fendi frock that was seen on the fashion house's Autumn/Winter 2018 Couture Collection catwalk. The shimmery sleeveless taupe dress certainly turned heads as the mesh tulle layer was embroidered with diamantes, which glistened in the warm Italian sun. Rania - who is married to King Abdullah - wrapped a cream coloured shawl around it which covered her shoulders as she paired her ensemble with blush pink pointed heels. In a bid not to draw attention away from the extraordinary gown, she paired it with a plain ream clutch bag and accessorised with a simple silver jewellery bangle and hoops. Rania's relationship with Bezos has spanned almost a decade after she met with the Amazon founder alongside her husband at the Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman in 2016. Rania was also present at Lauren and Jeff's engagement party onboard their $500 million yacht Koru. The Queen was the picture of elegance as she wore her caramel brown hair in a low ponytail, with two curled strands sitting along her cheeks and opted for glamorous makeup, donning smoky eye shadow, blush and pale pink lipstick. Her son Crown Prince Hussein, 30, was also in attendance alongside his wife Princess Rajwa and their baby daughter, Princess Iman, who is less than a year old. The family made a rare and unexpected appearance in Italy for Lauren and Jeff 's big day and were snapped heading from the quay into a water taxi after flying into Venice's Marco Polo airport. Crown Prince Hussein held Princess Iman - who was wearing a Tartine Et Chocolat daisy embroidered dress - in his arms as the pair waited for their transport. Princess Rajwa, 31, opted for a casual and unassuming outfit consisting of a Kayla chocolate shrunken linen shirt paired with a Citizens of Humanity 'Brynn' brown drawstring linen trousers. She also donned a Bottega Veneta 'Hop' large intrecciato-weave brown suede shoulder bag, Alexander McQueen logo trainers. To accessorise, donned a Rajwa Khaite x Oliver Peoples 1983C Cat-Eye sunglasses in Bordeaux Bark and 0.50ct heart shaped ruby and blackened gold single 'Gypset' hoop earring, which she paired with the 0.20ct diamond and gold version. The pair have joined A-listers such as Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Orlando Bloom, Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey for the extravagant three-day gathering, which will come to a close on Saturday. Lauren and Jeff were pictured at one of their many wedding events held at the Madonna dell Orto cloisters.
