THURSDAY NIGHT: Clouds fill back in. Seasonable temperatures. Light northeast winds. Low: 59.
Friday will feature similar conditions to those observed on Thursday, with clouds and mixed hazy sunshine at times.
A slow moving surface high to the north will encourage a weak northeasterly flow to bring more wildfire smoke to the surface. The 'Air Quality Alert' has been extended until midnight Friday night and it may be extended into part of the weekend if current trends continue to hold.
Wildfire smoke is expected to continue to have an impact on particulate levels with daily 24-hour AQI (Air Quality Index) at 'Unhealthy for sensitive groups' or higher.
High temperatures Friday will look very similar Thursday with low to middle 70s expected inland and middle 60s closer to the lake as a pesky northeast wind will continue to deliver cooling breezes for areas in close proximity to Lake Michigan.

Following a dry day on Thursday, spotty rain chances are possible Friday into Saturday before more organized area rainfall chances return Sunday afternoon into Monday.
Rainfall amounts will be fairly light across the Chicago area while an axis of heavy rain sets up downstate, with widespread totals of 2 to 4 inches possible.

NWS issues flash flood warning for part of NEPA
(WBRE/WYOU)— The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 12:15 p.m. for part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The NWS has issued a Flash Flood Warning for part of southern Lackawanna County and Northeastern Luzerne County. The NWS Doppler Radar indicated thunderstorms that were capable of producing rainfall of up to two inches in the affected areas. Those areas include Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, Dunmore, Old Forge, Moosic, Edwardsville, Luzerne, West Wyoming, Moscow, Sugar Notch, Elmhurst, Bear Creek Village, Glendale, Penobscot, Fairview Heights, Mountain Top, Kingston, Plains and Plymouth. Gaspee Days Fireworks postponed due to weather
WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Gaspee Days fireworks event that was scheduled for Saturday evening, has been postponed until Sunday. 'The weather forecast for this evening isn't very promising so I've decided to postpone the fireworks to tomorrow night,' Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi said in a post on social media. Sunny and warm weather today, rain chances increase into Sunday.
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast however wildfire smoke will still be lingering across most of the area. Today will most likely be the pick of the weekend as high pressure remains in control of our weather. Skies start mostly sunny, with the smoke and haze from the Canadian wildfires, temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Eventually, clouds increase this afternoon and evening ahead of our next weather system. It looks like this system stays to our south but might clip close to the Stateline, Jackson and Hillsdale could see a shower or two late tonight into Sunday morning. Partly to mostly cloudy skies continue for most if not all of Sunday, temperatures remain warm into the mid 70s area wide. A cold front moves in late Sunday into Monday, this will be the best chance for most of Mid-Michigan to see widespread showers and even rumbles of thunder. Scattered showers and storms continue into Monday and even Tuesday as this low pressure system moves out of the Great Lakes.
