Tennessee's exit from the 2025 NCAA Tournament marked the beginning of a critical month during the offseason to assemble its roster for the 2025-26 basketball season.
The NCAA transfer portal opened March 24 and will close after 30 days. Over 1,000 players have entered the transfer portal during the first week.
Tennessee is only set to retain center Felix Okpara from its 2024-25 starting lineup. Additional Tennessee returnees for the 2025-26 season include guard Bishop Boswell, and forwards Cade Phillips and J.P. Estrella.
The Vols' incoming freshmen class is composed of guards Amari Evans and Troy Henderson, along with center DeWayne Brown.
The NCAA has increased basketball scholarship limits from 12 to 15, allowing for Tennessee to sign as many as eight players during the offseason.

Riley Gaines, husband Louis Barker announce pregnancy: ‘God is SO good all the time'

Twelve-time NCAA All-American swimmer Riley Gaines and husband Louis Barker are expecting their first child together. Gaines confirmed the news to Fox News Digital Saturday, adding the couple will welcome a baby girl in September. 'Surprise! we're 26 weeks pregnant,' she said in a post on Instagram. 'God is SO good all the time.' The host of OutKick's 'Gaines for Girls' podcast married Barker in 2022, and they celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary May 22. Gaines has been a staunch advocate for female athletes during the debate about transgender athletes participating in girls and women's sports. She most recently sparred with seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles over a Minnesota softball team that won a state championship behind the performance of a trans player. In response to Gaines' criticism of a social media post praising the championship team, Biles posted a message calling Gaines 'truly sick' for her stance on trans athletes. She even launched a personal attack on Gaines' physical appearance. 'You're truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser,' Biles said, referencing Gaines competing against former UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA championships. 4 Riley Gaines and husband Louis Barker are expecting their first child together. @rileygbarker / Instagram 4 The couple celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary on May 22. @rileygbarker / Instagram 'You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin has had an up-and-down relationship with Tennessee, but he's rooting for the Vols in their NCAA baseball super regional matchup with Arkansas. Kiffin made his rooting interest clear in a social media post wishing the Vols his best. Tennessee (46-17) is locked in a tight game against the Razorbacks (46-13) at Baum-Walker Stadium. Advertisement Kiffin was the football coach at Tennessee in 2009. Many Vols fans soured on Kiffin after he left the job after one season to coach at Southern Cal. Kiffin has had memorable moments at Neyland Stadium since returning to the SEC as Ole Miss' coach in 2020. He had a golf ball and a mustard bottle thrown in his direction in Ole Miss' 31-26 win at Tennessee in 2021. P.J. Duke set to be youngest U.S. men's freestyle wrestler at world championships in 50 years

P.J. Duke is set to become the youngest U.S. male freestyle wrestler to compete at a senior world championships in more than 50 years. Duke, an 18-year-old who recently completed a 152-1 high school career, rallied past Yianni Diakomihalis, a four-time NCAA champion and 2022 World silver medalist, in USA Wrestling's Final X to earn the 70kg spot at September's worlds in Croatia. Duke lost the first match by mercy rule (10-0 at the 3:26 mark of the scheduled six minutes) in the best-of-three championship series. He won the next two matches, 17-10 and finally with a pin in the decider at the 4:07 mark. He celebrated with a backflip at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. 'That first match, didn't wrestle my best,' Duke said. 'It's a feel match. Didn't doubt myself once.' Duke said he saw an interview where Diakomihalis, who is eight years older, said he would 'try to mangle' Duke. 'I took that personal,' Duke said. 'I'm not going to let that slide. He's a good mentor to me, but I work my butt too hard to be mangled.' Duke has his last day of high school on Monday in Slate Hill, New York, then matriculates at NCAA champion Penn State on June 28 and turns 19 on July 7. He was named the national prep wrestler of the year by WIN Magazine. He would be the youngest U.S. male freestyle wrestler to compete at senior worlds since 1974, when Billy Rosado did so at age 18. John Bowlsby had also finished high school that year and wrestled at worlds. Current rules stipulate that wrestlers have to turn at least 18 in the year of the senior worlds to be eligible to compete. 'I'm sure people will be saying, 'He's only 18. He's too young for senior level,'' Duke said. 'That's what they said here. It didn't go too well for them.' PJ DUKE DOES IT!!!
