Duke Blue Devils Offense Preview 2025: Will Darian Mensah Be THAT Good?
X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN2025 Duke PreviewDuke Offense BreakdownDuke Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season - The offense wasn't along for the ride, but it didn't exactly hold up its end of the bargain like the defense did. It was horrible on third downs, the passing game wasn't effective enough, and the rushing attack was among the worst in the nation.
- Quarterback Maalik Murphy was and is great, but he threw too many picks and didn't hit enough third down throws to keep things moving. He's off to Oregon State, the program paid retail for Darian Mensah from Tulane, and now the big downfield plays should come. Henry Belin IV is a strong No. 2 option.
- Que'Sean Brown and Sahmir Hagans are decent returning receivers - they finished third and fourth in yards, respectively, but the firepower is coming in through the portal.Andrel Anthony started his career at Michigan, went to Oklahoma, and wasn't able to stay healthy. If he's in one piece, he's a deep threat star on the outside. Cooper Barkate (Harvard) caught 63 passes for 1,084 yards and 11 scores last season.
- The offensive line was among the best in the nation in pass protection, but it didn't do much for the running game that averaged just 93 yards per game. Almost all of the starters from late in the season are back, with Brian Parker the best of the lot at one tackle job.- Jaquez Moore was second on the team in rushing in 2023, got hurt last year, and now he's back, along with last year's second-leading rusher, Peyton Jones. Mensah will add rushing yards, too. Duke Defense Breakdown 2025 Duke Preview Season Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season

Miami Football Preview 2025: Can Mario Cristobal's Hurricanes Win Everything?
Miami Football Preview 2025: Can Mario Cristobal's Hurricanes Win Everything? originally appeared on College Football News. Everyone likes to dog the coaches who 'can't win the big one' - James Franklin has, ridiculously, been a regular in that discussion. Even more insane is that Ryan Day is, in some circles, still in that mix when it comes to Michigan. But to get to the 'big one,' you have to beat everyone else. In 13 full seasons as a head coach at FIU, Oregon, and Miami, Cristobal has been underappreciated as a builder of programs. Advertisement It's lost in history, but Oregon went 11-14 before Cristobal turned everything back around. The Ducks went 35-12 with two Pac-12 Championships and another appearance in his four seasons. But there was always the one strange loss that messed everything up. In 2021, it was to a 3-9 Stanford. In 2019, it was against a mediocre Arizona State. In 2018, it was at Arizona. And now at Miami, he's done a wonderful job of recruiting and developing talent. It took two seasons to push past the mediocrity and into a 2024 season that should've finished with an ACC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, but … Syracuse 42, Miami 38. And just like that, it was all gone. Cam Ward pulled a few games out of the fire, the Hurricanes caught a whopper of a break to survive Virginia Tech, and they finished the season No. 1 in total and scoring offense, but it wasn't enough thanks to that date in Syracuse. This year's team might be too good to let that happen again. The talent level remains as strong as any in the ACC, the depth is strong, and Cristobal has the program humming. This is when the payoff should be coming, but the Hurricanes need to be amazing again on … Miami Offense Breakdown Miami Defense Breakdown Season Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season This story was originally reported by College Football News on May 30, 2025, where it first appeared.

Pitt Football Preview 2025: Make-or-Break Year for the Panthers
X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFNPitt Offense BreakdownPitt Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to SeasonThe 0-6 finish by Pitt was bad, but at least it doesn't have the Steelers' quarterback problem.(The college team will start the season with the best quarterback in the city at any level - that's a half joke, but Eli Holstein is a good one.)It's a make-or-break year for every college football head coach - you're one three-game losing streak away from being on a hot seat. But this really is a season when Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi needs to pull a full-grown rabbit out of his hat. The GameAbove Sports Bowl loss to Toledo, and how that shook out with the various decisions that didn't work, would've been enough to put just about any coach on Triple Open-Sourced Probation, but he always seems to come through when there's trouble went 42-34 in his first six seasons. The only bowl win was against Eastern Michigan, and nothing was happening, and then … kaboom. The 2021 team won the ACC Championship, it would've been in an expanded 12-team playoff, and the breakthrough was followed up by a strong 9-4 then he and the Panthers went 10-15 over the last two seasons. Worse yet, after a 7-0 start, highlighted by a takeaway-fest over Syracuse, everything fell apart after a blowout loss to SMU. Pitt lost its final six games - to be fair, the schedule was nasty, playing nine bowl teams in the final 11 games - helped by a slew of injuries. There was a power outage on offense, the defense couldn't stop anyone, and it should all pay off this didn't do much through the transfer portal, because he didn't need to. The team is built up with home grown experience, there's a great quarterback in place to get fired up about, and …This had better be a strong year for the Panthers - and it should Offense BreakdownPitt Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season © 2025 The Arena Group Holdings, Inc. Chris Paul gives massive praise to projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg
Chris Paul gives massive praise to projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg Cooper Flagg is the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and has impressed many observers in recent memory, including future Hall of Famer Chris Paul. Flagg led Duke to the Final Four, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks on 38.5% shooting from 3-point range. He became the 22nd player in program history to be named a consensus first-team All-American. The 18-year-old is busy training during the predraft process and has spent some time in Los Angeles, California. Paul has joined him in the gym on a couple of occasions and can see why he is the clear choice to be the top pick on June 25. "I'm just like everybody else: I'm a fan," Paul said on the "Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday. "I was at home in L.A., and I was watching the ping-pong balls like everybody, and when I saw the Spurs pop into the top four, we were going crazy. Guys on my team (in the) group chat, we were like, 'What is about to happen?' I'm in L.A. right now, and Cooper Flagg has been out there. I've been in the gym with him a couple of times, or whatnot. He is as real as advertised." Flagg entered last season with tremendous expectations as the consensus top recruit in the class of 2024. He was highly touted as the likely top pick in the draft and lived up to the hype after becoming the face of the sport this past season. The 6-foot-8 forward has drawn comparisons to former Duke legend and Hall of Famer Grant Hill because of his size, athleticism and ability to affect games in various ways. Former coach Mike Krzyzewski even called him the best freshman to ever play with the Blue Devils. After trading away cornerstone Luka Dončić, the Mavericks hope Flagg can step in and be their long-term solution. Should Flagg indeed hear his name called first, the ACC Freshman of the Year will become the sixth Blue Devil to be selected as the top pick.
