Legendary England fast bowler James Anderson is playing for Lancashire in the T20 Blast 2025. In his first T20 match after more than 10 years, currently underway against Durham at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, the 42-year-old fast bowler picked up three wickets for 17 runs in four overs.
He opened his wicket account by getting opening batter Graham Clark caught out by Chris Green on the fifth ball of the third over of the match and then got rid of Durham captain Alex Lees on the last ball of the fifth over. Lees scored 16 runs from 16 balls before being caught by Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings.
On the fifth ball of his last over of the match, Anderson dismissed Colin Ackermann. The 34-year-old right-handed batter was caught by Charlie Barnard after making 18 runs from 22 balls.
The video of Anderson's first wicket in T20s after 3935 days was shared on X by Vitality Blast's official handle, and within no time, the clip went viral on the internet.

Anderson, who is England's most capped Test player and all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, announced his retirement from international cricket last year. During his more than two-decade-long career, Anderson played 188 Tests, 194 ODIs and 19 T20Is for England. He picked 704 wickets in Tests, 269 wickets in ODIs and 18 wickets in T20Is.
He is the first fast bowler and overall third bowler in the world after Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan to take more than 700 wickets in the five-day format of the game.
The Indian men's cricket team will travel to England later this month to take part in a five-match Test series. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Headingley in Leeds from June 20 to 24, and the next four matches will be played in Birmingham (July 2-6), Lord's (July 10-14), Manchester (July 23-27) and The Oval (July 31-August 4).
Shubman Gill will captain the Indian team. The right-handed batter was appointed as India's captain on May 24.

Ex-India opener warns Gill and Co against over-dependence on all-rounders in England: 'We got a learning from the BGT...'
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra additionally urged the Indian team to play a minimum of four front-line pace options in the upcoming five-match Test series against England with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy potentially coming in as the fifth seamer. read more All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy could be an ideal candidate for the fifth seam-bowling option in England according to former India opener Aakash Chopra. AFP Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra warned the Shubman Gill-led Indian team against obsessing over all-rounders in the upcoming five-match Test series in England while emphasising on having four frontline seam options in the playing XI, with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy potentially coming in as the fifth seamer. Chopra warns India against obsessing over all-rounders Chopra cited the example of the recent tour of Australia, where India ended up surrendering the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 3-1 series loss, as an example of why over-dependence on all-rounders can go wrong for the team. 'We got a learning from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy that if you get a little obsessed about the batting and play batters who can bowl and choose bowlers who can bat, then you are just going down the wrong path,' Chopra said on his YouTube channel. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'So I am thinking you should have a minimum of three proper fast bowlers. The fourth fast bowler could be Shardul Thakur for sure, if you wish, and then you can have Nitish Kumar Reddy as the fifth bowler and Ravindra Jadeja as the sixth bowler. So you have plenty of bowling options, but the batting is not compromised,' he added. Picking four frontline seam options to challenge the Ben Stokes-led home team and try and prise out 20 wickets will be quite the challenge for Gill and Co in the upcoming series. Especially since senior pacer Mohammed Shami has been overlooked for the series and Jasprit Bumrah isn't likely to play more than three matches due to the back injury that he had suffered towards the end of the Australia tour. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee have instead picked Arshdeep Singh, who has already made a name for himself in T20 format and has also been impressive in the 50-over game, as well as Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur in addition to established names such as Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Nair could bat at No 6, feels Chopra Chopra also felt Karun Nair, who has earned a Test recall after eight years, could bat as low as No 6 in order with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja coming in at 7 in order to shore up India's batting order, which will then likely lead to a toss-up between Reddy and Thakur for the fourth seamer's slot. 'Otherwise, you can go the route of keeping Karun Nair at No. 6, Ravindra Jadeja at No. 7, and then go with four fast bowlers. That could be another thought process where Shardul Thakur won't be among the four fast bowlers, and you go with four proper fast bowlers. 'It will be worth watching how this era proceeds in Shubman Gill's captaincy, because when you have even slightly less experience in batting, you are tempted to play an additional batter since enough runs aren't being scored. The Headingley match will decide what our thought process will be,' the 47-year-old added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The five-match Test series between India and England gets underway on 20 June at Headingley, Leeds, and will mark the beginning of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle for both teams. India have not won a Test series on English soil since the Rahul Dravid-led side won a three-match Test series 1-0 in 2007.

400 caps and counting: India's hockey legend Manpreet Singh etches name in history
As the sun dipped behind the stands of Wilrijkse Plein in Antwerp and the Indian national anthem played once again, there stood a familiar figure--poised, composed, with eyes filled with purpose. For the 400th time, hockey icon Manpreet Singh walked out wearing the India jersey, adding his name to an elite list of legends who have graced the world stage with unwavering consistency and heart. In that moment, Manpreet wasn't just a player lining up against Australia in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2024/25--he was a symbol of longevity, leadership, and an era that has seen Indian hockey return to global reckoning. The 33-year-old midfielder from Punjab, a place synonymous with Indian hockey folklore, now stands as the second-highest capped Indian men's player of all time, behind only former Captain and current Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey (412 caps). What makes Manpreet's story even more compelling is that it's far from over. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 《皇者天下》亂世爭鋒,誰能稱雄?排兵布陣,決戰三國!超燃三國SLG等你親臨戰場! 皇者天下 玩遊戲 Undo From his debut in 2011 as a spirited 19-year-old to becoming the heartbeat of the Indian midfield, Manpreet's career mirrors Indian hockey's resurgence. He has won 4 Asian Champions Trophy titles (2013, 2018, 2023, 2024), 2 Asian Games Gold medals (2014, 2023), 2 Olympic Bronze medals (2020, 2024), 2 Commonwealth Games Silver medals (2014, 2022) and Podium finishes at the 2014-15 and 2016-17 FIH World League and Hockey Champions Trophy in 2018. It was about showing up -- every single game and every training session -- with the same fire he felt when he first picked up a stick on the dusty fields of Mithapur, Jalandhar. Speaking on the milestone, an emotional Manpreet said, as quoted from Hockey India, "I still remember the goosebumps I felt in my debut game. To be standing here, 400 games later, is beyond anything I imagined. This milestone is shared with every coach who pushed me, every teammate who backed me, and every fan who believed in me when I needed it most. I'm still learning, still growing -- and I play with the same hunger today as I did at 19." Hockey India President and the only Indian player ahead of Manpreet in the all-time caps list, Dilip Tirkey, lauded the achievement and stated, "Very few athletes achieve this level of consistency and endurance. Manpreet has been the spine of Indian hockey through its most transformative decade. His fitness, leadership, and composure under pressure set him apart. We are proud to see him carry forward the legacy with such grace." Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, "400 caps is not just a number -- it's a legacy built on sacrifice, discipline, and devotion to the sport. Manpreet has set the bar for professionalism and pride in wearing the India jersey. He has been a true ambassador of Indian hockey and a generational role model."
