Lauren Walsh within four of lead at Czech Ladies Open
Lauren Walsh is within four shots of the lead after the second round at the Czech Ladies Open.
The Kildare native followed up Friday's 69 with an even better six-under 66 to surge up to nine under and into a tie for sixth at the Beroun Golf Resort course.
She is the leading contender among the Irish quartet in action.
Olivia Mehaffey and Sara Byrne are five shots further back in a tie for 50th. Mehaffey impressed on Saturday with a score of 65, while Byrne carded a 70, Canice Screene is on two under following a 69 but missed the cut by just one shot.
Switzerland's Kim Metraux leads the way after producing a masterclass on day two with a career-best round of 63 (nine under) to storm into the outright lead on 13 under par.
Chasing a maiden win on the Ladies European Tour, she is one shot clear of England's Esme Hamilton who shot a 66 in only her sixth LET event.
"This is the lowest round I've ever had," Metraux said.
"It was just one of those days where everything went really well. I didn't really miss any shots or putts, to be honest. It was so nice. I gave myself a lot of opportunities and made the most of them.
"I'm really happy with how it went. I kind of lost track of what my score was, I just knew I went really low. I really loved it and hopefully I can have a day like that again."

New Irish 4x100m relay record set by Farrelly, Akinola, Lawlor and Olatunde
Michael Farrelly, Bori Akinola, Marcus Lawlor and Israel Olatunde have set a new Irish 4x100m relay record in a time of 38.92 seconds. The quartet finished in second place at the World Continental Tour Meet in Switzerland on Saturday. The previous national record of 39.26s was set by John McAdorey, Gary Ryan, Tom Comyns and Paul Brizzel at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Comyns took to X to congratulate the squad on breaking the record.

All-Ireland champions Kerry draw Kildare as Dublin and Cork renew rivalries
DEDENDING CHAMPIONS KERRY will face Kildare, while old rivals Dublin and Cork go head-to-head in the 2025 TG4 All-Ireland senior quarter-finals. The draw, which was made after today's group games, pits last year's finalists Galway against Waterford, and Meath against Tipperary. Kerry, Dublin, Meath and Galway were seeded as group winners, and have home advantage for the games which will be played on the weekend of 5/6 July. Full fixture details will follow from the LGFA. Kildare stunned Armagh this afternoon to progress to the last eight, while Cork, Tipperary and Waterford advanced at the expense of Mayo, Donegal and Leitrim respectively. The wider picture of the Brendan Martin Cup race has become clearer, with the semi-final line-up also confirmed: Kerry/Kildare v Meath/Tipperary, and Dublin/Cork v Galway/Waterford. The last four clashes are currently scheduled as a potential double-header at Glenisk O'Connor Park, Tullamore, on Saturday, 19 July, while Croke Park hosts the All-Ireland final on Sunday, 3 August. Michael Farrelly, Bori Akinola, Marcus Lawlor and Israel Olatunde set new Irish record in 4x100m relay
A new national record has been set in the men's 4x100m relay. The relay team, consisting of Michael Farrelly, Bori Akinola, Marcus Lawlor and Israel Olatunde set the record in a time of 38.92 seconds while finishing second at the World Continental Tour Meet in Switzerland on Saturday. The previous record of 39.26 was set by John McAdorey, Gary Ryan, Tom Comyns and Paul Brizzel at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.
