Hans Perez has arrived.
The Pacers fan, who went viral for having trash thrown at him by Knicks fans for wearing a Tyrese Haliburton jersey, touched down in Indiana for Game 4 on Tuesday — a guest of the team and the star guard.
Haliburton offered up a bounty of prizes for Perez, a firefighter who went viral as Knicks fans harassed him outside of Madison Square Garden.

Perez found himself getting a very different kind of welcome in Indiana: members of the Indianapolis Fire Department and Indiana International Airport staff met him at the gate and ferried him across the city in a firetruck.

'Tyrese did great, he laid out the red carpet for me,' he said on the 'Pat McAfee Show' on Tuesday. 'It's been awesome, as soon as I got out [of] the gate at the airport, I got five service guys waiting for me, the whole airport was there taking pictures of me. I pull up to the hotel, I got the Pacemates, I got Boomer waiting for me.
'This is awesome, this is great.'
The next venture was offering an update to McAfee and his crew — eight days after Haliburton made his overture to Perez live.

It's been a whirlwind since, with Perez adjusting to his newfound fame, even if some elements remain familiar.
'I've been getting my chops busted all my life for being a Pacers fan… now the whole fire department knows I'm a Pacers fan,' he said. 'My daughter's softball game, all the parents are coming up to me, oh my God.'

Many have offered encouraging words following his viral fame, despite being subjected to bags of trash being hurled at him, including by several Knicks fans, he told McAfee.

'That's not right, not how you treat people,' he said of their messages to him. 'They're showing support, giving me a lot of credit.

The biggest prize for Perez is set for Tuesday night, however, when he'll be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to watch his team take on the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals.
With his beloved Pacers up in the series, Perez sees no reason for that to change — even if his pals at home won't like his prediction.
'We're going up 3-1 tonight,' he said. 'The Pacers are gonna get the job done. Knicks are in trouble.'

Rockets rumors: Houston's backup target if ‘priority' Steven Adams leaves

The post Rockets rumors: Houston's backup target if 'priority' Steven Adams leaves appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Houston Rockets head into the 2025 offseason looking to continue their ascent in the Western Conference. Following their early exit in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs by the Golden State Warriors, the focus is continuing to build towards being a contender. That includes addressing the Rockets' own players, such as Steven Adams, once the free agency period rolls around. Advertisement Steven Adams is reportedly the top priority in the offseason in terms of the Rockets internal free agency options, as per Kelly Iko of The Athletic. But Iko reports that if Adams should opt to sign elsewhere in free agency, the Rockets could turn their attention to another two-way caliber big man. 'If Adams leaves, team sources said the Rockets could reignite their interest in Brook Lopez,' Iko reports. 'The 37-year-old, who averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game shooting 37 percent from 3 in Milwaukee last season, was previously a target for Houston and would theoretically be a fit, given his two-way production and health.' Following Adams' strong showing the playoffs, the veteran center is sure to draw interest on the free agent market from opposing teams. In the Rockets' seven playoff games, Adams averaged 5.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots while shooting 60 percent from the field. He would be a solid addition for any team looking to add frontcourt depth. But per Iko, the Rockets are heading into the offseason working under the assumption that Adams has strong interest in re-signing with the team. Advertisement But in the event that Adams does depart in the offseason, Brook Lopez would not be a bad replacement for the Rockets. The former lottery pick has transitioned into becoming one of the top stretch-bigs in the NBA. His overall numbers took a hit in the playoffs during the Bucks' opening round exit against the Indiana Pacers. But during the regular season, Lopez shot 37.3 percent from the three-point line and 50.9 percent overall. He put up 13.0 points, which is close to his career average of 15.9. In more of a backup role with the Rockets, Lopez could thrive. In any case, it's going to be an important offseason for the Rockets if they wish to mold themselves into a West contender.

Knicks fire coach Tom Thibodeau after Eastern Conference finals berth, AP source says

Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Tom Thibodeau just took the New York Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals, the deepest playoff march in 25 years for a franchise that re-emerged as a contender after he became their coach. For that, he was fired. The Knicks decided to move on from Thibodeau on Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press. The Knicks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers with a loss in Game 6 on Saturday night, falling two games short of their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999. It was the fourth postseason trip in his five seasons in New York for Thibodeau, who was then asked what the Knicks needed to do this summer to go further. 'Like you would do after every season, you take a step back, I think decompress,' Thibodeau said. 'You do a deep dive on the team and then you analyze what you think you need to improve upon.' The Knicks decided it was the coach. The move was made by team president Leon Rose with approval from owner Jim Dolan, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made. The firing was first reported by ESPN. It's a strange decision by the Knicks, who had been one of the league's worst franchises for most of the 2000s until Thibodeau was hired in 2020. He promptly led the Knicks to the playoffs in his first season, winning his second NBA Coach of the Year award, and they have been a solid contender in the East in recent seasons. They gave Thibodeau a three-year contract extension last summer. Their big breakthrough came in 2024-25, when they knocked off defending champion Boston in the second round to reach the conference finals for the first time since 2000 — when Thibodeau was an assistant under Jeff Van Gundy. After they were eliminated Saturday, captain Jalen Brunson expressed his support for Thibodeau, bristling at a question about whether he believed the coach was right for the team. 'Is that a real question right now?' Brunson said. 'You just asked me if I believe that he's the right guy? Yes. Come on.' Three days later, Thibodeau was gone despite a 226-174 record in New York. He has the fourth-most wins by a Knicks coach. Thibodeau faced criticisms that his hard-driving style and overreliance on his starters wore down his players, the same ones that have followed him since the beginning of his head coaching career in Chicago. But his ways seemed to be working in New York. And even among the celebrities that filled Madison Square Garden, Thibodeau's gruff style was a natural fit for fans who longed for the defense-driven success of the 1990s. 'I am a Tom Thibodeau fan. He brought this team back,' actor Ben Stiller, who watched the postseason run from his courtside seat, wrote on X. 'I felt he gave every bit of himself and was always looking to improve. I will always be grateful for how far he brought the Knicks. They are relevant again. They are championship contenders again. The Knicks became winners again with him.' The Knicks hadn't won a playoff series since 2013 but now have done it in three straight seasons. They went 50-32 in 2023-24 and followed that with a 51-31 record this season, having loaded up in the offseason by trading for All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. But the person said the organization felt there was a need for a new voice when the Knicks try again to end their lengthy championship drought. They won their second and last title in 1973. Thibodeau is well aware of their history, having grown up as a Knicks fan in Connecticut before joining the organization as an assistant coach in 1996. He went on to help the Boston Celtics win the 2008 NBA title as an assistant, earning a reputation as one of the league's top defensive minds, before finally getting a chance as a head coach with the Bulls in 2010-11. He went 62-20 in his first season, earning his first Coach of the Year award. Thibodeau, who spent five seasons with the Bulls and also coached Minnesota, is 578-420 as a head coach. ___ AP NBA: recommended
