Rishabh Pant sensed danger one ball before losing his wicket, told Ravindra Jadeja 'Same jagah maare ja raha hai'

Rishabh Pant overcame the tough IPL season, and the switch to Test cricket instantly helped him regain form. The left-handed batter scored a brilliant century in the opening Test match against England at Leeds. Pant, playing his first match as vice-captain in Tests, owned the stage with his outrageous shots all around the park to hit his seventh century in the format. He once again displayed his fearless approach against a team that is known for their ultra-attacking Bazball approach, and reached the century with a six. He was dismissed LBW, offering no shot to Josh Tongue to end an innings that featured 84 runs in boundaries. A few labelled his dismissal a brain-fade moment, but the broadcasters showcased a video after his dismissal of the ball prior to Tongue trapping him.
Pant was seen telling his batting partner Ravindra Jadeja, 'Sooja diya hai yaar isne maar-maar ke, same jagah maare ja raha hai(My knee is swelled up, he is hitting me in the same place).'
On the next delivery, Tongue bowled a delivery which nipped back in and hit his pads again but this time he got dismissed LBW. Meanwhile, with the brilliant knock, he got past legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni to become the wicketkeeper with the most Test centuries for India.
It was his first Test century since September 2024 when he scored 109 against Bangladesh.
In 90 Tests, Dhoni had scored 4,876 runs with six tons and 33 fifties at an average of 38.09 and remains the highest run-scorer as an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in Tests. Pant, who completed 3,000 runs during this innings of 134 off 178 balls (12x4; 6x6), also has 15 fifties in 44 Tests and averages nearly 44. Pant's performance drew praise from batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who commended the wicketkeeper-batter's clever use of technique—particularly highlighting his well-executed paddle sweep as a mark of smart, situational batting.
"Rishabh's falling paddle sweep is not accidental. It is intentional and extremely clever. Going down with the shot allows him to get under the ball and scoop it over leg slip with control," Tendulkar wrote on his social media handle.

Karun Nair Reveals 'Comfort' Factor Ahead Of Test Comeback: 'Rahul And Prasidh...'

Last Updated: Nair, after eight years, is set to solidify his place in the Indian Test team against England. He's comforted by the presence of childhood friends KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna. As he seeks to capitalize on an opportunity that has arrived after eight years, Karun Nair says the presence of childhood friends KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna brings a comforting familiarity to the Indian dressing room. The five-match Test series against England, starting on Friday, presents Karun with a chance to solidify his place in the team, years after becoming only the second Indian batter to score a triple century in Test cricket. 'I try to keep it very simple, always think about the positive, have certain goals in mind, visualize things and have real belief in what you visualize. 'Playing alongside Rahul and Prasidh is also a very comforting factor. We've played cricket for so many years since probably we were young kids and grew up together," Karun told BCCI in a video posted on its website. Karun and Rahul, both 33, have played age-group cricket together and have been close friends ever since. 'Life has come a full circle because I went out of the team in England and now I am coming back into the team in England. It's been a while and I embrace that." He was dropped from the Indian team in 2017. 'My first thought when I woke up (after being dropped) was I want to play Test cricket, I want to play for India again. That's probably what kept me going, kept me hungry and was the driving force to train and practice every day. 'I had a goal to play Test cricket again. Every day, every morning I used to wake up thinking what should I do to reach that goal. Never losing that belief and having that target to reach was something that helped me," he added. In the 2024–25 domestic season, Karun amassed 863 runs in nine matches at an average of 54, helping Vidarbha clinch their third Ranji Trophy title. The season revived his Test career as he made his return to the Indian Test side for the tour of England. 'Mentally I am more patient and I am more forgiving of myself. I have learnt to enjoy small things a little more and also not trying to be someone that I am not. I have tried to keep it very simple. I always think about positives, have certain goals in mind, visualize things and have real belief," Karun said. 'Feeling honoured to wear this jersey and honoured to be representing my country." Karun said the realisation of making the Indian team again came to him when he met the touring group. 'When I saw everyone for the first time, that was when I realised I am finally in the team. Till then, it was a wait for me to start feeling I have made it again," he said. 'It's been a few years, I used to watch everyone on TV and to be back again in this dressing room feels amazing." 'I enjoy the feeling with everyone, enjoy the feeling of wearing this jersey, just going out there and having fun with everyone in the group and trying our best to win games for our country." IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill were talking in Hindi during Shoaib Bashir's spell due to...

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. (PIC - X) New Delhi: The Indian team performed brilliantly in the first innings of the first Test match against England and scored 471 runs. Captain Shubman Gill, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and vice-captain Rishabh Pant scored centuries for India. Gill and Pant shared a big partnership of 209 runs for the fourth wicket, which helped India cross the 450-run mark. 7 wickets lost after scoring 112 runs: India started the second day at 359 for three, but after the lunch break the entire team was all out for 471 runs. India lost its remaining seven wickets on Saturday after adding 112 runs. If India could not touch the 500-run mark, the credit goes to Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue who bowled brilliantly on the second day. During this, the weather also supported the fast bowlers as most of the time the conditions were overcast. The disappointing thing for India is that despite three batsmen scoring centuries, the team could not touch the 500-run mark. Sachin Tendulkar posted on social media: Former Indian team batsman Sachin Tendulkar noticed one thing about Gill and Pant's partnership. Sachin told that Gill and Pant were talking in Hindi during the spell of England spinner Shoaib Bashir. He told what was the strategy behind this of these two batsmen. Sachin wrote on X, Rishabh's falling paddle sweep is not accidental. It is done deliberately and very cleverly. Going down with the shot gives him a chance to scoop it over leg slip with control.
