AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — ElliReese Niday became one of the youngest champions ever when she won the women's 10-meter title Thursday at the USA Diving national championships.
The 13-year-old from Moultrie, Georgia, scored 721.40 points to beat Texas sophomore Bayleigh Cranford by 10 points.

Top NHL draft prospects have breakfast with Marchand, meet McDavid at the Stanley Cup Final
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Visiting the Stanley Cup Final weeks before hearing their names called early in the NHL draft, top prospects Matthew Schaefer, Michael Misa, James Hagens and Jake O'Brien got a surprise at the Panthers' practice facility on Monday. Brad Marchand pulled up a chair and joined them for breakfast. The 37-year-old veteran shared some laughs and chatted with them hours before he and the Florida Panthers face the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3. 'You think you're just going to say hi, and then you're sitting at a table with Marchand and he's talking to you,' Schaefer said. 'We were talking about the draft and the (scouting) combine, and he was like, 'I didn't get to go there.' And he's laughing, and I'm like, 'Well, look where you are now: You're in the Stanley Cup Final.'' Schaefer, Misa, Hagens and O'Brien also met Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl and took in the Oilers' morning skate. Schaefer first met McDavid in January when the three-time MVP returned to Erie, where his No. 97 was retired by the Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. This interaction — in the arena where McDavid was drafted first a decade ago — went a little smoother. 'I didn't think I was going to have to talk at his jersey retirement, and then I ended up talking to him,' Schaefer recalled. 'I ran out of things to say, and I ended up looking at McDavid and go, 'I'm proud of you.' Nobody would say that.' Schaefer is NHL Central Registry's top-ranked prospect, though there is still considerable debate as to whom among Schaefer, Misa and Hagens the New York Islanders will select with the first pick after winning the draft lottery. Hagens grew up on Long Island cheering for them and went to games at Nassau Coliseum. Recently, he saw a bumper sticker that read, 'Bring Hagens home,' but he's also a realist about the possibility of his hometown team not selecting him. 'I just want to be (with) a team that wants me the most — I want to play for any of these teams,' Hagens said. 'It's just a competitive nature that you want to be the first person off the board. It's exciting, so I can't wait.' RNH a game-time call Edmonton's longest-tenured player, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, missed practice Sunday, skated some on Monday and is considered a game-time decision, coach Kris Knoblauch said. It is not clear what is ailing Nugent-Hopkins, though he is expected to take part in pregame warmups. Jeff Skinner, who played an NHL-record 1,078 regular-season games before finally making his playoff debut earlier this spring, is on standby if Nugent-Hopkins cannot go. Skinner has been a healthy scratch for all but two of the Oilers' 18 games this postseason. 'It's just part of being a team,' Skinner said. Guardiola picks up another honor in Manchester. This one is from its university
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Manchester on Monday to recognize his contribution on and off the field since joining the club in 2016. Guardiola was presented with an honorary doctorate by the university's chancellor at a ceremony to honor his success with City, including leading the team to six Premier League titles and the Champions League, and in the community, notably through his Guardiola Sala Foundation. 'I have spent nine years here and it has become home,' Guardiola said. 'The people, the culture, my incredible football club, my colleagues … it is all so special to me and my family. 'When I arrived here in 2016, I did not know how long I would spend here. The way this city embraced me made everything easy. My time here has been beautiful.' Professor Duncan Ivison, who is the university's president and vice chancellor, described Guardiola as an 'innovator and a winner who has inspired millions of people through his success as a manager.' Cricket's Hall of Fame inducts Dhoni, Mir, Smith, Amla, Hayden, Vettori and Taylor
LONDON (AP) — Two-time world champion Mahendra Singh Dhoni led the 2025 class of seven cricketers into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday. He was joined by Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla, South Africa's most successful captain and second highest test scorer, Matthew Hayden of Australia, Daniel Vettori of New Zealand, Sarah Taylor of England, and Sana Mir, the first woman from Pakistan to be inducted. 'From dreaming as a little girl that one day there would even be a women's team in our country to now standing here, inducted among the very legends I idolized long before I ever held a bat or a ball, this is a moment I couldn't have dared to imagine,' Mir said. Nobody has captained India in more matches than Dhoni. Under his leadership, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and topped the test rankings for 18 months in between. He was named to the ODI and T20 world teams of the decade at the end of 2019. Smith became South Africa's youngest captain at 22. He led in a world record 109 tests and won 53, including the Proteas' first series win in Australia in 2008-09 in which he played with a broken hand. Amla spent 13 hours scoring South Africa's first triple century, 311 against England at the Oval in 2012. He also rose to No. 1 in the ODI rankings. Hayden was an opening batter for Australia for 16 years. He briefly took Brian Lara's test record with 380 against Zimbabwe in Perth, and hit three centuries while winning the 2007 ODI World Cup. Vettori became the youngest man to debut for New Zealand in tests at 18 in 1997, and the left-arm spinner became only the third man in history to take 300 test wickets and hit 4,000 runs. Taylor set the standard for women wicketkeepers with a record 232 dismissals across the formats. She was a key contributor in England's ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup double in 2009 and another ODI World Cup triumph in 2017. Mir led Pakistan for seven of her 15 years in the team, winning two Asian Games. She started as a pace bowler but a stress fracture forced her to switch to off-spin.
