ITC Ltd fell 3.54% today to trade at Rs 418.55. The BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index is down 1.04% to quote at 20472.49. The index is down 0.5 % over last one month. Among the other constituents of the index, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd decreased 1.56% and CCL Products (India) Ltd lost 1.43% on the day. The BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index went up 2.99 % over last one year compared to the 8.36% surge in benchmark SENSEX.
ITC Ltd has lost 2.39% over last one month compared to 0.5% fall in BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index and 1.54% rise in the SENSEX. On the BSE, 132.19 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 6.78 lakh shares in the past one month. The stock hit a record high of Rs 500.01 on 27 Sep 2024. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 381.24 on 04 Jun 2024.

YEIDA to hire agency to audit infrastructure projects off Yamuna Expressway
NOIDA : Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ( YEIDA ) has decided to hire a third-party agency to monitor and audit the quality of its ongoing and upcoming works. This will ensure high construction standards and error-free execution of its major development projects. Its duties will include setting up testing laboratories, collecting material samples, arranging tests and submitting detailed reports to YEIDA on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. The reports will highlight any defects or quality concerns and the agency will also track whether corrective measures are taken by the project engineers. Last week, YEIDA issued a request for proposal for the selection of the agency. The last date to submit applications is June 9. The agency will provide regular feedback on material quality and workmanship to help prevent construction defects before they occur. The selected agency will be responsible for conducting both scheduled and surprise inspections across all stages of construction. A YEIDA official said, "With so many civic projects and infrastructure schemes underway — including Noida International Airport , Film City , Toy Park and the proposed Semiconductor Park — YEIDA is focusing on maintaining the highest quality standards," said an official. "Hiring a third-party quality assurance agency is part of that effort." The agency will be required to deploy staff based on the size and scale of the project. Smaller teams will be assigned works worth up to Rs 500 crore, while larger teams will be needed for projects of higher value. For road projects, the agency will ensure that the materials used and the thickness of layers meet the standards prescribed by the ministry of road transport and highways (MORTH). In the case of drains, sewers, water supply systems, buildings and electrical works, it will verify compliance with Indian Standards and accepted engineering practices. All development works, including those handled by project management consultants (PMCs) or other govt bodies, will fall under the scope of this agency's review. YEIDA will bear the cost of all lab testing and any special equipment needed. While the agency will issue recommendations based on its findings, the final decision to act on them will rest with YEIDA. Officials said YEIDA is currently involved in a wide range of development activities, including the construction of roads, drains, sewers, water supply systems, electrical infrastructure, overhead tanks, civil structures, horticulture and urban services. These works span residential, commercial, industrial and institutional areas.

Gurugram civic body struggles to find agency to manage construction waste
GURUGRAM : MCG's search for securing an agency for managing the city's construction and demolition (C&D) waste collection and transport has failed to meet success so far. The corporation has issued a fresh tender recently for legacy C&D waste removal. In April, the corporation sought bids to remove 6 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste from the city, attracting three bidders. However, none of these bidders satisfied the required eligibility conditions. According to an MCG official, the city produces around 1,500 to 2,000 tonnes of construction waste daily. As per the proposal, it is a Rs 9-crore project which mandates the use of GPS-equipped vehicles and the establishment of a dedicated helpline for the resolution of complaints within 48 hours. The agency hired would also need to submit their vehicles' registration details and fitness certificates before starting work. At present, the city relies on a single company that runs the Basai C&D waste processing facility , which collects construction waste within a 15-kilometre radius of the plant. The facility at Basai has a daily capacity to treat 300 MT of construction debris. The MCG has not been able to identify any contractor to handle construction waste collection beyond this range. In the last fiscal year, MCG allocated Rs 10 crore for C&D waste management in their budget. The corporation spent only 50% of it on construction waste management. This fiscal year, the civic body has allocated Rs 20 crore for the same. Councillor of Ward Number 9 Avneesh Raghav said, "The situation regarding construction debris scattered throughout the city is as concerning as municipal solid waste. Yet, there remains uncertainty about any initiatives to address the accumulated C&D waste from previous years." From old parts of the city to the Gurgaon-Faridabad road, the city has been struggling with unauthorised disposal of C&D waste. The councillors in April raised the issue with the MCG officials, requesting the establishment of zone-specific C&D waste processing facilities in the city. They demanded that dedicated collection and processing units be set up.
