"Listening is most powerful parenting tool": Kajol gets candid before 'Maa' release

By Divya Malhotra New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): As she gears up for the release of her mythological horror debut 'Maa', actress Kajol opens up about a different kind of fear--one that every mother knows too well. In a conversation with ANI, she shared her perspective on motherhood, the delicate balance between protection and independence, and the deeply personal experiences that resonate with her latest role. When asked how she balances protecting her children and allowing them to face their own fears, Kajol reflected with the grounded wisdom of experience: 'My children are much older now. I have taught them a lot of skills. So now I will have to trust my upbringing. Look, I have taught you for so long, now it's time for you to learn your lesson and to practise it.' It's a philosophy of parenting that echoes the essence of 'Maa'--a film about a mother fighting ancient evils to protect her daughter. But in real life, Kajol believes parenting teenagers is as much about listening as it is about guiding. 'Sometimes just listening to them makes them also see your point of view and makes you also see their point of view. So, I guess listening is the most powerful parenting tool,' she said. Speaking about the most vulnerable period of motherhood, Kajol offered a moving reflection. 'The first day that the child is born in this world is the first day that the mother is born in the world as well.' Describing those initial few months as the toughest, Kajol revealed the immense pressure mothers face to prove their worth, both to themselves and to the world. 'There's a pressure on a mother that... no one can question me whether I am a good mother or not. You have to do superhuman things like not sleeping for six months and still have a happy face,' Kajol said. In a way, that relentless strength mirrors her upcoming role in 'Maa', where Kajol plays a mother confronting supernatural forces rooted in mythology, grief, and legacy. Directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jio Studios, 'Maa' is a unique entry in Indian cinema. The film marks Kajol's first foray into the horror genre and brings with it a compelling narrative: a mother-daughter road trip gone horribly wrong after they encounter a cursed tree haunted by ancient spirits. With a stellar cast featuring Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, and Surjyasikha Das, Maa blends mythology and horror to deliver a gripping emotional journey. The film is slated to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali on June 27, 2025. (ANI)

My film is releasing in theatres after a long time and I am extremely happy about actor has to reinvent himself/herself with time. I had never thought I would do a horror film, but here we are. I am extremely proud of this film. The script is quite good. I am a big mythological buff. I love our Indian mythology. We have so many stories. So, I think it was one of my favourite stories.' South Asian-origin Brit named as man arrested at Disneyland Paris for mock wedding to 9-year-old

(Photo credit: Metropolitan Police) LONDON: A South Asian-origin British national called Jacky Jhaj has been named by UK media as the man arrested in Disneyland Paris last weekend for organising a mock wedding to a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl. Jaskarn, or Jacky Jhaj (39), was arrested last Saturday at the theme park when a 55-year-old actor who had been paid €12,000 to play the role of the father of the bride contacted police when he realised the bride was a child and she turned up looking 'scared and confused'. Jhaj is a convicted paedophile in Britain. He was jailed in 2016 for sexual activity with two 15-year-old girls and placed on the UK sex offenders register. Around 100 children and 200 adults had been paid to take part in the fake ceremony at the Sleeping Beauty castle. The mock wedding was to feature violinists, a cake, and chairs were laid out. TOI understands the plan was to create a video for social media. Jhaj had hired Disneyland Paris for several hours before it opened for the stunt, costing £110,000, allegedly using fake Latvian ID. He was going to play the role of groom to the child bride who could not walk in her bridal dress and heels and had to be carried. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like กำลังเทรดสกุลเงิน THB หรือ USD อยู่หรือเปล่า? Jhaj appeared in front of a judge in Meaux, north-east Paris, on June 23 and was charged with fraud, breach of trust, money laundering, and identity theft. He remains in custody. He is a serial prankster behind scores of similar weird stunts. He hired hundreds of teenagers and children, some as young as six, to act as his fawning fans at a fake red carpet film premiere in Leicester Square in 2023 at which he pretended to be a film star, and last year he organised a fake funeral at London Oratory with a horse-drawn carriage and empty coffin, hiring extras as mourners. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: 'A 39-year-old man is wanted by the Met Police for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a breach of a Sex Offenders' Register notification requirement. We are aware the man has been arrested in France for other matters and officers are in contact with the French authorities.'
