Whether you're heading to a summer garden wedding, a city stroll, or just want something a bit more elevated for everyday wear, these styles will take you easily from day to night. Vogue's Favorite Block Heel Sandals: Block heel sandals instantly transport us back to the classic minimalism of the '90s—think Carolyn Bessette in a sleek black midi and barely-there leather sandals, or virtually every runway show from brands like Miu Miu, Jil Sander, and Chanel. Yet fashion houses in 2025 are still happily giving this shape the spotlight, from Balenciaga to Bottega Veneta, who've made it their own with distinct house code touches, like stud and buckle embellishments or an intrecciato lambskin footbed. For everyday sleek neutrals with a minimalist twist, look to brands like Emme Parsons, Ancient Greek Sandals, and Reformation for effortless yet versatile picks. If you're after an evening-ready pair, Gucci and Manolo Blahnik offer classic silhouettes that can be paired with just about any wedding guest dress (or other occasion-wear). Marvel's ‘Deadpool & Wolverine' Secrets Are Safe Again, Even the ‘Nicepool' Ones

Justin Baldoni's defamation case against Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, which included the character as part of its claims, was tossed out earlier this week. The Justin Baldoni-Blake Lively legal battle isn't something io9 would normally cover—but when Marvel got pulled into the fray, we took a little more interest. Deadpool & Wolverine, starring and co-written by Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds, famously featured a Deadpool variant played by Reynolds that seemingly mocked Lively's It Ends With Us co-star and director Baldoni. Though the character was dubbed 'Nicepool,' Baldoni didn't take kindly to the portrayal. The issue became part of the defamation lawsuit Baldoni filed against Lively and Reynolds, in the wake of the suit Lively filed against Baldoni accusing him of misconduct during the making of It Ends With Us. It's been a big back-and-forth of Hollywood spin and legalese, but Marvel fans perked up when, as part of the suit, Baldoni's lawyers wanted access to Marvel documents pertaining to the development of the Nicepool character. In late April, Marvel pushed back, explaining in a letter shared on Deadline that 'the requested documents are particularly sensitive because they relate to the development of a character in an ongoing movie franchise.' It went on to explain that the 'crossover' way of storytelling is a foundational part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—something any Marvel fan, including anyone who saw Deadpool & Wolverine, can understand—and 'whether and how such elements will appear in upcoming, unreleased projects is the subject of much public interest, and this information is closely guarded by Marvel.' Basically, Marvel was worried that if certain documents became public as part of Baldoni's lawsuit, they could potentially spoil what Marvel has coming in the future, particularly as it pertains to Deadpool (or even Nicepool, though we can't imagine Reynolds is in a hurry to bring him back after all this). But with Baldoni's defamation lawsuit being tossed out this week, Variety reports, Marvel can breathe a little easier. While the legal clash between Baldoni and Lively is still in play—on Baldoni's side, he can still file an 'amended complaint by June 23 regarding interference with contracts'—Nicepool is now off the table. According to Variety, Judge Lewis Liman's ruling included the following: 'The motion by Marvel Entertainment, LLC ('Marvel') to quash a subpoena issued to Marvel from the [production company] Wayfarer Parties and for a protective order prohibiting the disclosure of Marvel's confidential documents is GRANTED.' 'The information sought is no longer relevant to a claim or defense in this action. Moreover, assuming the information were relevant, it would not be proportional to the needs of the case and the potential harm to Marvel of disclosing confidential commercial information.'

New Children's Book Elephant Beach Teaches Kids How to Step Outside Their Comfort Zone

Reviewers have called Devane's book a 'hit at bedtime' and a 'fun, feel-good book for kids of all ages!' Author and educator Christine Devane takes a fun and unique approach to helping shy students succeed in life and the classroom. North Andover, MA - Christine Devane's debut children's book 'Elephant Beach' tells the tale of a young girl whose relaxing day at the beach is quickly turned upside down by rowdy elephants who love to play. 'Elephant Beach' begins with a little girl who quickly brushes off the elephants upon their arrival, seeming annoyed with them and their antics. But once she gives them a chance, she slowly becomes intrigued by their playful nature and later embraces her new friends. 'As a former teacher, I saw how stories could light up a room and help kids connect with big ideas in simple, joyful ways,' said Christine Devane, author of 'Elephant Beach.' 'I wrote this book to encourage children to celebrate differences and try new things. If a child finishes the story feeling a little braver or more open to others, that means everything to me.' Spending over 13 years in early childhood education, with some of that stint in Costa Rica, author Christine Devane is a professional who truly understands young readers and the value of sharing life lessons through fiction. 'Elephant Beach' is inspired by Devane's own love of elephants, her teaching career and her own children. The main character is inspired by Devane at a young age – very shy and reserved – to show young kids that it's okay to be that way and still try something new. With vibrant red hair, the main character shows readers it's fun to embrace what makes you 'you.' Kids and even adults judge people, or in this case, animals, before getting to know them. Sometimes, they just need to give everyone a chance. You can purchase your copy of Elephant Beach here on Amazon or on Barnes and Noble. About Christine Devane: Christine Devane grew up in North Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated from Merrimack College in 2006 with a degree in English and a minor in Elementary Education. She went on to earn her master's in Elementary Education from Merrimack in 2008. Over the next 13 years, Christine taught at St. Augustine Elementary in Andover and Plympton Elementary in Waltham. She now lives in Wilmington with her husband, John, their three children—Joey, Nick, and Adeline—and their dog, Sophie. Christine has also volunteered and taught English in Costa Rica, and she is an active member of the SCBWI, regularly attending conferences in New York City and Springfield.
