This U.S. Airline Has a New Direct Flight to Tokyo—With Deals Under $620
Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines started a new service to Tokyo. Travelers can score round-trip flights for as low as $612.
Flying to Tokyo from the U.S. just got easier.
Alaska Airlines Group has a new direct flight connecting Seattle (SEA) and Tokyo (NRT). The 10.5-hour flight departs Seattle at 1:30 p.m. and arrives in Tokyo the next day at 4 p.m.
Passengers will fly on an Airbus A330-200 equipped with amenities like Wi-Fi, in-seat power outlets, and personal entertainment. The flight will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines. (Alaska Airlines acquired Hawaiian Airlines in September 2024 and both carriers are operating under their individuals brands.)
'Hawaiian has been serving the Tokyo market for nearly 15 years," Joe Sprague, CEO at Hawaiian Airlines, said in a statement obtained by Travel + Leisure. "We're thrilled to open this new global gateway with Alaska, giving more Pacific Northwest travelers and beyond the opportunity to experience the award-winning hospitality that Hawaiian is known for.'
T+L spotted round-trip flights for as low as $612, or 37,500 miles, throughout the next several weeks. The cabin options on the flight include business class, premium economy, and economy.
The extension from Seattle to Tokyo is the first move in Alaska Air Group's international expansion plans. 'Our growing fleet of widebody aircraft, which includes the flagship 787 Dreamliner, unleashes a world of possibilities of where we can fly to from Seattle. Looking ahead, we'll have exciting additional milestones as we share the new international routes we'll be launching in the coming years, including destinations in Europe, as part of our plans to serve at least 12 international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle by 2030,' Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci said in a statement.
Alaska Airlines previously alluded to expanding to Europe in 2026 recently when Minicucci said, 'Europe is definitely on the radar for 2026."
For now, travelers utilizing Alaska's new service to Tokyo will have plenty to do. The city was previously named a top trending destination among tourists and is home to dozens of acclaimed hotels and resorts that welcome visitors from around the world. For example, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Conrad Tokyo, Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi, and Aman Tokyo were voted as the top five hotels in Tokyo in T+L's 2024 World's Best Awards.

'An Improvement in Quality', Says Unlikely Source, But Boeing Stock (NYSE:BA) Slips Regardless
If there were anyone out there that it would be hard for aerospace stock Boeing (BA) to please right now, who do you think it would be? Perhaps the CEO of Alaska Airlines (ALK), Ben Minicucci? That would be one tall order, right? And yet, that is just what happened. Despite this, investors were still skeptical, and sent Boeing shares down fractionally in Friday afternoon's trading. Clark even made reference to 'cautious optimism' of the kind he had not seen 'in the last few years,' reports noted. Tough Room Naturally, not everything was so positive for Boeing. The deal finally reached with the government that allowed it to avoid prosecution did not even sort of sit well with the surviving families of those who died in the 737 Max jet crashes. In fact, one of the lawyer for the 16 families involved declared the deal 'morally repugnant.' It has also reportedly provoked 'visceral outrage' from his clients, who, reportedly, declared the $444.5 million payout to be insufficient. Further, noted lawyer Sanjiv Singh, the deal allows Boeing to '…sidestep true criminal accountability.' Singh also declared that the penalties involved are '…actually like Boeing paying $10 to escape criminal liability. It's as if they got a misdemeanour ticket or a parking ticket.' Given that Boeing made around $66.5 billion in total revenue in 2024, $1.1 billion is actually a much more substantial portion than implied. Is Boeing a Good Stock to Buy Right Now? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on BA stock based on 16 Buys, three Holds and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 9.87% rally in its share price over the past year, the average BA price target of $218.37 per share implies 4.62% upside potential.

Delta Air Lines Announces Change to Winter Schedule With Added New York to Tel Aviv Flights
The summer travel season is here, but for those in the travel industry, it's actually time to look to the fall and winter travel periods. By the time June hits, airlines and staffers are already prepping for traveling during the colder months, which includes the busy holiday travel period. Delta Air Lines helps around 200 million travelers fly to more than 350 destinations each year. The airline, which is headquartered in Atlanta, calls itself the "leading global airline," with a mission to connect the world, which "creates opportunities, fosters understanding and expands horizons by connecting people and communities to each other and to their own potential." Now, Delta has announced a subtle but important change to its winter schedule. The change impacts travelers flying out of the popular John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. From Nov. 30, 2025, through Jan. 19, 2026, Delta will offer a second daily frequency between JFK and Tel Aviv "to support increased demand during the winter travel season." The route will use Delta's Airbus A330-900neo offering four product experiences in Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. Delta had stopped flights to Tel Aviv for a period of time but started service up again on May 20, after what they called "an extensive security risk assessment by the airline." "Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports," they added. "Any further updates to operations will be shared on Delta News Hub." In other news, on May 29, Delta announced that they had started a new nonstop flight from Boston to Barcelona, strengthening the airline's footprint in Spain and giving travelers another way to get to this Spanish tourist spot.
