Korea Heralda day ago

SINGAPORE , June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC Laboratories Singapore will be introducing an early-stage prototype of its AI Elderly Care Assistant at the upcoming CHI Innovate 2025, to be held on 10–11 July 2025 at the Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation in Singapore.
Presented under the concept "ElderWise – companionship that cares, support that lasts," this initiative reflects NEC's commitment to co-developing people-centric technologies that address the evolving needs of community care.
Gathering insights, shaping solutions together
The AI Elderly Care Assistant is an early-stage prototype designed to promote greater independence for seniors ageing at home. It outlines a future where seniors can confidently manage daily life at home, supported by discreet AI-driven assistance that adapts to their habits and needs over time.
Through natural voice interaction, it enables users to manage daily tasks without needing to navigate complex interfaces. Beyond functional support, the assistant offers cognitive engagement through casual conversations and adaptive learning recognising individual habits over time.
For caregivers and providers, it offers real-time insights into a senior's day-to-day patterns. This proactive visibility allows care teams to intervene early, without disrupting the user's sense of autonomy.
"This prototype reflects our belief that AI can play a vital role in enabling seniors to live independently and with dignity," said Christopher Lam, VP and Head of NEC Laboratories Singapore. "We're confident in its potential to complement care efforts at home, and we look forward to working with providers to refine the solution through joint proof-of-concept initiatives. We hope to have meaningful conversations at CHI Innovate 2025 as part of our journey towards creating what's ahead in elderly care."
Invitation to Collaborate at CHI Innovate 2025
The prototype will be showcased at CHI Innovate 2025, and attendees are encouraged to visit NEC's booth to exchange ideas and explore potential collaboration. By building with—and for—the care community, NEC aims to ensure the solution reflects real-world priorities and possibilities.

LG LAUNCHES "RADIO OPTIMISM" CAMPAIGN TO SPREAD "LIFE'S GOOD" THROUGH MUSIC

LG's New Campaign Leverages Music – the Universal Language – to Foster Deeper Connections and Expand the Life's Good Promise in Digital Spaces SEOUL, South Korea, June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics (LG) today launched a new brand campaign, "Radio Optimism," designed to help strengthen meaningful human connections and spread optimism through shared musical experiences. This initiative aligns with LG's brand promise, "Life's Good," and addresses the growing challenge of forming genuine relationships in a technology-driven world. The Radio Optimism campaign seeks to counteract the disconnection often felt in an era dominated by superficial interactions, such as likes and comments on social media. By harnessing the power of music, LG aims to foster deeper bonds among individuals, promoting a more fulfilling life. "As technology advances, meaningful human connections become increasingly vital to enrich our lives. LG continues its commitment to bringing optimism into customers' daily lives, staying true to our enduring brand promise of 'Life's Good," said Kim Hyo-eun, head of LG's Brand Management Division. This campaign reinforces LG's commitment to creating enriching experiences in digital spaces where today's consumers spend significant time. Building on this mission, LG has continuously engaged with younger audiences through participatory campaigns that bring the Life's Good philosophy to life. Last year's "Optimism your feed" campaign leveraged social algorithms to foster positivity on social media. This new initiative specifically seeks to address the paradoxical disconnection in an era of hyper-connectivity. "One of the most reliable predictors of happiness is having deep and meaningful relationships," said Jean M. Twenge, Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University. "Yet today, many people are spending more time online and less time connecting in person. Social media in particular tends to create shallow relationships rather than the deep connections people need. It's common for people to have hundreds of followers but no one to talk to in real life if they need support. We need to build more meaningful connections with those around us. That might turn around the pronounced decline in happiness that's occurred over the last decade." A new global study * from LG on social connection reveals that 68 percent of people find it harder to make real friends, and a third reported having one or fewer meaningful connections in the past month, with 8 percent experiencing none at all. Inspired by traditional radio's unique way of connecting people through music and storytelling, the Radio Optimism campaign transforms this concept into an interactive platform where participants can create and send personalized songs to their loved ones. Users can easily create new songs using AI-powered tools, which are thoroughly trained on a curated music dataset. These tools interpret user prompts to produce unique musical pieces and generate matching album art, providing an engaging and personalized experience. Once generated, these songs can be sent to recipients to deepen their connection and made available for others to discover worldwide. According to the survey, nearly 9 in 10 respondents believe that meaningful connections lead to a more optimistic outlook on life. By providing a platform for individuals to express their feelings, this campaign aims to foster deeper connections and help individuals enrich their lives while spreading optimism in their own ways. The campaign website is available in English and Spanish, with plans to support additional languages in the coming months to enable broader participation. AI Adoption Surges in Life Sciences Manufacturing as Talent, Risk, and Quality Pressures Intensify

Global survey reveals how manufacturers are adopting advanced technologies to stay competitive and meet rising patient demands amid economic uncertainty MILWAUKEE, June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world's largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, today announced the results of the 10 th annual " State of Smart Manufacturing Report: Life Sciences Edition." The global study encompasses the responses of 143 leaders from life sciences manufacturers across 15 of the leading manufacturing countries. Life sciences manufacturers are working to keep up with growing demand, rising costs, growing cybersecurity threats, and complex compliance requirements, all while navigating economic uncertainty and ongoing workforce challenges. Many are turning to advanced technologies to help them become more agile and adapt to constant change. Smart manufacturing is a clear area of focus with 95% of life sciences manufacturers saying they are using or evaluating smart technology. Specifically, companies are using artificial intelligence (AI) to help improve product quality, protect systems and support employees where skilled labor is hard to find. Leaders are also thinking beyond quick wins and investing in technologies that will help them expand capacity and build more secure operations over time. "Life sciences manufacturers are entering a new phase of digital maturity, driven by increasing regulatory complexity and mounting pressure to improve time-to-market without sacrificing quality," said Matt Weaver, Vice President, Global Industry – Life Sciences, Rockwell Automation. "This year's report makes it clear that AI is becoming indispensable to modern life sciences manufacturing—not just to optimize efficiency, but to strengthen product quality, secure critical infrastructure, and upskill the workforce. There's a clear shift toward long-term thinking as leaders double down on digital investments that make operations more connected, adaptive, and resilient." Key global findings include: Although most manufacturers collect large volumes of data, only 46% say they are using it effectively. As digital tools scale, the ability to turn insights into action will be key to unlocking smarter, faster decision-making. "With our extensive industry expertise and wide-ranging suite of automation and information solutions, Rockwell is uniquely positioned to support life sciences organizations across the globe," said Weaver. "No matter where a company is on their path to digital transformation and smart manufacturing, we can meet them where they are to help them achieve sustainable growth." The full findings of the report can be found here.
