Police arrange girl's wedding after gangsters kill her brother

Lucknow: In the small village of Dhannipurwa, once darkened by tragedy, the light of joy returned as wedding songs echoed again — not because sorrow was forgotten, but because courage and compassion won. Just over a month ago, 28-year-old Shiv Deen was shot dead by members of the dreaded Pasi gang while trying to stop them from stealing wedding items meant for his sister Uday Kumari's big day. His death shattered the family. The wedding was postponed and hopes seemed lost. But help came not from relatives — it came in uniform. The groom, Pradeep Kumar, son of Ramsurat Kumar and resident of Khadoura village under Sisai post, Tarabganj police station in Gonda, works in a metal factory in Delhi that manufactures tools like wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers. He was home for the past two months and also supported his family with a small plot of farmland. Taking a deeply human approach, Gonda SP Vineet Jaiswal launched a crackdown: four accused were arrested, while Sonu Pasi and Gyanchandra Pasi, who had a reward of Rs1 lakh on them, were gunned down in separate encounters by Gonda police and the STF. Then, the police did something extraordinary — they became family. Under the direction of STF chief Amitabh Yash and with support from the state women's commission, Gonda police took responsibility for Uday Kumari's wedding. Officers arranged the venue, welcomed guests, and even stood as the bride's 'maayka'. Jaiswal and his wife, Tanvi visited the family, gifting Rs1.51 lakh in cash, gold and silver jewellery, and household items — not just as officials, but as guardians. "I thought my daughter would never get married. Today, it feels like God came in the form of these officers," said Uday Kumari's mother, Shakuntala Devi. Govt announces even stronger stance on illegal immigrants

Raipur: In a high-level meeting chaired by Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister and home minister Vijay Sharma at Mahanadi Bhawan, the state govt announced a more firm stance on tackling illegal infiltration across the state. The deputy CM made it clear: "We will not allow Chhattisgarh to fall prey to infiltration. This is a matter of national and social security, not just routine policing." The meeting, attended by Special Task Force (STF) nodal officers from all districts, reviewed district-wise infiltration threats and ongoing actions. Deputy CM Sharma praised the efforts in Durg district as a model of proactive enforcement and instructed officials to launch intensified search operations in identified 'hotspot' areas. He said that identification cannot rely on documents alone — scrutiny must extend to a person's language, accent, village, school background, and local connections. "Forged documents cannot be the sole basis of legitimacy," Sharma warned. "We must verify the personal and educational history — ask about their village teacher, the name of their first school, and community knowledge. Infiltrators often assume new identities to blend in. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sanitize & Smooth Clothes Fast with Philips Steamer Philips Garment Steamers Shop Now Undo We cannot be complacent." To ensure a responsive mechanism, Sharma announced that the govt would soon set up a toll-free number and a Google form portal to allow citizens to report suspicious individuals. "Residents will be able to share photos, videos, and key details." Sharma also directed that each district establish a mobile inspection team capable of on-the-spot inquiries. He called for strict accountability from landlords, contractors, and event organizers who fail to verify the identities of tenants or workers. Deputy CM also proposed the creation of a permanent village-level register to record the details of all families residing in villages prior to the formation of Chhattisgarh. Spy ring: Ex-Pak cop, a YouTuber, a key handler

New Delhi: Investigators probing the recent cases of espionage have identified a former sub-inspector of Pakistan Police as a key handler in the cross-border spy networks. The suspect, identified as Nasir, had been recruited by ISI a few years ago after which he voluntarily retired from service and turned a YouTuber. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Nasir and his female accomplice, Naushaba Shehzad aka Madam N, were specifically tasked by ISI to cultivate Indian influencers, sources said. The two had become a bridge between the ISI and Indian YouTubers. "After initial onboarding, Nasir would connect Indian YouTubers visiting Pakistan with high commission official Danish and others who would then assign them espionage tasks and invite them as guests to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi," said an investigator. Danish was expelled from India in May, after travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra was arrested by Haryana Police. Nasir also figures in the interrogation of Jasbir Singh, another YouTuber who was arrested last week for allegedly passing on information on Indian forces' movement to ISI. Nasir is also a property dealer based out of Faisalabad and is fond of driving SUVs. "He has a lot of followers on YouTube and he advocates for visas to Indians yearning to meet family in Pakistan through his videos. However, that is his cover to camouflaging his spying activities," said a senior investigator. Nasir and Naushaba Shehzad, who runs a travel agency in Pakistan, facilitated visas for those who "cooperated". In lieu of visa and other facilities, including accommodation at five star hotels, the duo asked the influencers to shoot pro-Pakistan videos and upload them on YouTube to create a favourable narrative.
