Bucks council celebrate fly tipping clear up operation success
A fly-tipping clearance operation has been celebrated by Buckinghamshire Council.
The local authority praised the use of CCTV to support an investagtion as well as the clearance of a 'large' fly-tip.
On X (formerly known as twitter) the council posted images of a before and after of Langely Park Road, in Wexham, Bucks.

The council also trumpeted the use of 'hot spot surveillance' to catch an offender for fly-tipping in a similar area.

It stated that an offender who was identified as leaving bags of rubble on Wexham Park Lane, was identified and had now paid a £1,000 fixed penalty.

British lawyers for Hamas investigated by watchdog
The law firm trying to remove Hamas from the UK's list of proscribed terrorist groups is being investigated by a solicitors' watchdog, The Telegraph understands. Riverway Law made headlines in April when it launched an appeal to have Hamas taken off Britain's list of proscribed groups. The firm made a submission to Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, arguing that Hamas posed 'no threat to the UK people' and should be allowed to operate here on free speech grounds. Just days after submitting its appeal to the Home Office, the firm was reported to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) by Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary. Mr Jenrick argued that Riverway's appeal potentially breached UK sanctions rules on terror groups. He also drew attention to apparent social media posts about the war in Gaza by Fahad Ansari, the leading lawyer in the case and the director of Riverway. The posts included claims that Hamas is a 'legitimate resistance movement' protecting Palestinians from 'UK-sponsored Israeli genocide'. The SRA is understood to be at an early phase of its investigation and no conclusions have yet been reached. In a letter to the watchdog sent in April, Mr Jenrick said there was 'a clear need to uphold public confidence in the legal profession and to ensure rigorous enforcement of the UK sanctions regime'. He said that there were 'significant questions as to whether Riverway have complied with their obligations under the UK sanctions regime, the SRA's own published guidance and broader professional standards expected of solicitors'. Mr Ansari has defended his firm's actions. In response to Mr Jenrick's complaint he said: 'We were in contact with OFSI [the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation], external counsel and others who had represented sanctioned organisation[s], to ensure that we did not breach our duties under the sanctions regime.' Riverway submitted a 106-page application to the Home Office in April, accompanied by a video which was posted to its social media channels. The application argued the proscription of Hamas in the UK should be lifted in line with European Convention of Human Rights protections in the interest of freedom of speech. It also claimed the ban is disproportionate and that Hamas poses 'no threat to the UK people'. The ongoing appeal, believed to be the first of its kind, is being fronted by Mousa Abu Marzouk, Hamas's head of international relations and its legal office. Mr Jenrick welcomed the SRA's investigation on Saturday, telling The Telegraph: 'Our sanctions regime is pointless if it isn't enforced. 'Ansari is a shameless apologist who argues Hamas poses no threat to the British people. What nonsense. This evil death cult threatens free people everywhere.' Mr Ansari has previously appeared to make a series of controversial social media posts related to the ongoing Israel-Gaza war. In posts dating from last year he appeared to praise fighters of the 'courageous Palestinian mujahideen', wrote 'you should view Hamas as an army of angels' and dismissed international courts as 'hopeless', saying that 'only armed resistance' would help Palestinians. In April last year, a post on his X account said: 'Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating especially the courageous Palestinian mujahideen who continue to resist the Western-backed Israeli genocide entirely on their own. You are the pride of this Ummah. May you celebrate Eid one day in a fully liberated Palestine.' Another comment posted in June said: 'If you believe genocidal Israel is the most moral army in the world, then you should view Hamas as an army of angels.' The SRA declined to comment. Moped rider seriously hurt in hit-and-run crash
A moped rider has been seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash with a car. Leicestershire Police said he was involved in a head-on crash with the car in East Park Road, Leicester, shortly after 12:00 BST on Friday. Detectives said the car, believed to be a green Mercedes E-Class, left without stopping and they are now trying to find the driver. The moped rider, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he remained on Saturday, a spokesperson added. Officers said it was thought the car left the area along East Park Road towards St Saviour's Road. They have appealed to anyone who saw the crash, which happened near the junction with Blanklyn Avenue, to contact them. Two boys and girl arrested after 15-year-old seriously injured
Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in Sunderland. Police were called by the ambulance service to an injured teenage boy on Margaret Terrace in New Herrington at about 6.10pm on Friday, Northumbria Police said. Emergency services attended the scene where the boy, aged 15, had sustained serious injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article, the force said. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and remains in a stable condition. His next of kin have been informed. Northumbria Police added that the investigation is at an early stage but it is understood the boy had been assaulted within the grounds of Herrington Country Park. Two boys, aged 16, and a girl, aged 15, were arrested in connection with the report on suspicion of assault and have been further arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the force said. They remain in police custody. Chief Superintendent Nicola Walker, of Northumbria Police, said: 'This is a serious incident which saw a young boy assaulted – and we wish him well as he is treated in hospital. 'I would like to reassure our communities that we're carrying out extensive inquiries to understand what happened, with three people in custody being questioned by police. 'Our officers remain in the area to offer reassurance and investigate, which involves some search activity within Herrington Country Park. 'While inquiries remain at an early stage, it is believed some of those involved could be known to each other.' She added: 'We know this is a high footfall area, and it's likely there were lots of people in and around the park at the time of the incident.
