Rajasthan influencers hand out beer to commuters, viral video sparks backlash
Seven social media influencers were arrested in Rajasthan's Jaipur after a video of them distributing alcohol on a busy road emerged on the Internet, triggering widespread outrage. The incident took place on Nirjala Ekadashi, a significant religious observance for Hindus.
The viral video features influencer Sachin Singh, also known as Lappu Sachin, along with six others, distributing bottles and glasses of beer to commuters on a busy street in Jaipur. At one point in the video, an auto-rickshaw driver is allegedly forced to drink a glass of beer before driving away.
The accused arrested were identified as Sachin Singh, Pradeep Kadwasra, Vikas Verma, Abhishek Nirmal, Sunil Kumar, Aditya Mahariya, and Ankit Meghwal, according to a report in NDTV. Their 'alcohol party' drew mixed reactions from commuters. While some appeared uncomfortable, others laughed and participated.
The video came to the attention of authorities after a social media user shared it. 'Hello Jaipur police. These boys are stopping people on the road and making them drink and drive. Fine all of them and give these boys a taste of jail's drink for a few days,' the user posted on X.

The video quickly gained traction, sparking outrage across social media platforms. 'That's why education is necessary,' a user wrote. 'Who are these people? This is getting out of hand now! What even,' another user commented.
'Aryabhatt invented 0 after seeing the IQ of these indians,' a third user reacted.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Digant Anand later confirmed that the video was filmed on Nirjala Ekadashi, stating that the stunt was deemed 'offensive to religious sentiments,' the report said.
During the police interrogation, the group claimed they had no intention of offending anyone and stated that the act was carried out solely to gain followers on social media. Following their arrest, the influencers issued a video apology, in which they can be seen kneeling, holding their ears, and appearing disheveled, some with torn clothing.
Sharing the apology video on social media, Rajasthan BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj commented, 'They were distributing beer on the streets in style for a reel. Jaipur Police taught them a lesson.'

2 arrested for taking ₹24 lakh from youngster promising selection in IPL team
Belagavi police arrested two persons from Uttar Pradesh on the charge of defrauding a young cricketer from Belagavi. Susanjan and Diwakar, both around 25, were arrested from their hometown in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This followed a long and detailed investigation by the Belagavi police. They face charges of collecting over ₹24 lakh from the family of Rakesh Yadure of Chinchani near Chikkodi. They had lied to the young sportsperson's family that they would get him selected to the Rajasthan Royals IPL cricket team. The boy comes from a humble background. His father, a security guard, took loans to pay the conmen. Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled told reporters in Belagavi on June 12 that Susanjan had previously cheated two others using a similar modus operandi, while Diwakar appeared to be a first-time offender. Mr. Yadure, 19, had excelled in a cricket match in Hyderabad in May 2024. He posted photos and videos of the match on Instagram. The fraudsters, claiming to be selectors from the IPL team, sent him friend requests, and said he was under consideration. In December 2024, Mr. Yadure received a message claiming he had been shortlisted for the IPL team. The message included a link to a 'registration form' and requested an initial payment of ₹2,000. Over the next few months — between December 22, 2024, and April 19, 2025 — Mr. Yadure's father made multiple payments totalling ₹23.53 lakh. The duo promised fees ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹8 lakh per match. The cricketer's family filed a complaint with the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station on May 17 this year. Dr. Guled advised people, especially the youth, to be cautious of such scams. 'We urge citizens, especially youngsters, not to fall for online claims of sports selection, jobs, or cash rewards. Always verify such claims,' he said.

Police prevents BJP leaders from visiting violence-hit Bengal's Maheshtala
West Bengal BJP leaders led by state unit president Sukanta Majumdar were prevented by the police from visiting violence-hit Maheshtala in South 24 Parganas district on Thursday, a day after the area witnessed group clashes. Union minister Majumdar and other leaders were stopped by police enroute to Maheshtala, following which they held a protest in Kolkata's Kalighat area near the residence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee when they were detained and released later. In a post on X, Majumdar said, "Just yesterday, the same @WBPolice were forced to wave white cloths in surrender before radical jihadists in Rabindranagar -- spineless, helpless, and humiliated. And today, suddenly, they appear to be warriors -- zealously following Chief Minister @MamataOfficial's orders with blind obedience, immersed in servitude!" "Today, as we moved toward Maheshtala to stand beside the attacked Hindus, the administration blocked our path citing Section 163. And when we later went to Kalighat, to the Chief Minister's residence, to question her silence and appeasement politics, her loyal @KolkataPolice pounced on us like personal slaves -- blindly defending their master. In broad daylight, our leaders and @BJP4Bengal Karyakartas were shamelessly arrested -- a naked display of administrative tyranny," Majumdar said. He alleged that "radical fundamentalists run amok" in West Bengal and anyone who protests is crushed under the weight of the state machinery be it Malda, Murshidabad, or Maheshtala. The chief minister is solely focused on protecting her vote bank and the safety of Hindus does not exist on her agenda, he alleged. Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, called on Governor C V Ananda Bose at Raj Bhavan to apprise him about the situation. In an X post, Adhikari said, "The police department's failure to contain the situation stems from their reluctance to use adequate force, fearing backlash since the jihadists would have been at the receiving end." "Instead, they stood by initially as miscreants mercilessly attacked Hindus, vandalised a Shiva temple, torched bikes and vehicles, and pelted stones right under the nose of Rabindra Nagar PS. Police Officers (including Lady Police Personnel) were injured, Police vehicles were damaged, and yet, the police have the audacity to downplay this as a petty squabble over illegal construction'. Shame on you. Why are you hiding the truth?" he added. Referring to the Murshidabad violence a few months ago, he said, "Similar communal unrest left lives shattered. The flames of targeted attacks on Hindus have now reached Kolkata. Arresting 40 people is not enough when hundreds were on rampage. Where is the accountability for your failure?" the senior BJP leader said. West Bengal Police said in an X post that 40 people have been arrested in the clash between two groups and urged leaders of different political parties to refrain from visiting the violence-hit areas. Adhikari told reporters earlier in the day that he has started the process of approaching the Calcutta High Court for the deployment of paramilitary forces in Maheshtala area. TMC leader and state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya told reporters that the arrest of an RSS activist in connection with the Maheshtala violence showed there might be a "sinister plan to foment clashes and mistrust between two groups in the area".
