High school teacher charged with sexually assaulting former teen student at her home
A New Jersey high school teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a former student of hers.
Alyssa Perry, 35, a teacher at Morris Knolls High School, is accused of sexually assaulting the then-17-year-old on two occasions at her Rockaway Township residence in February and March, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
Perry is a former teacher and tutor of the victim. She currently works at the school as a teacher where the victim attends, though Perry is currently suspended, prosecutors said.
She was charged on Friday with two counts of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Perry was released under pre-trial supervision with conditions that bar her from contacting the victim, any students or the school.
The alleged incidents came to light when a school administrator notified the Denville Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office of alleged inappropriate behavior, prosecutors said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information has been released.
The Morris Knolls High School website lists her as a cheerleading coach. Reports online say she teaches math and graduated from Rutgers University, where she earned a master's degree in math education.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the school for comment and attempted to reach Parry also.
Her next court appearance is set for July 14.

2 killed after train hits SUV in Somerset County
Two women are dead after a CSX train collided with a vehicle at a train crossing in Rockwood Borough, Somerset County on Thursday morning. KDKA-TV spoke with residents in the area who said that the two train crossings in town have been problematic for years and they want something done about it. "I feel sick almost," said Ken Marker, who lives near where the crash happened. "I'm kind of anxious. I don't think it should have happened. It's just a shame." It all happened just before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. An SUV found itself between the down gates of a railroad crossing on Bridge Street in Rockwood Borough as a CSX train was coming through. According to Pennsylvania State Police, both occupants of the SUV, an 85-year-old woman and a 67-year-old woman, died in the crash, one at the scene and one later pronounced dead at Conemaugh Hospital after being transported. One neighbor KDKA-TV spoke with said that something has to be done with the two train crossings that divide the town because they tie up residents and first responders. "You think something would be done like a bridge or an underpass, something for the safety of the residents in the town, because the train is constant, nonstop," said the neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous. While it is not exactly known what caused this crash to happen, Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.

Detroit police shoot woman after she allegedly opened fire at repo driver
A Detroit police officer shot a woman Thursday afternoon after she allegedly fired shots at a repo driver on the city's east side. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said officers were on a routine patrol around 3 p.m. Thursday on the 10900 block of Nottingham Road when they saw a woman with a handgun firing shots at a man in a truck. Bettison said the man was in the process of repossessing a truck a block over from where the woman allegedly shot him. Police believe that the woman, who owned the vehicle that was being repossessed, fired multiple shots at the repo driver and his truck. Bettison said officers fired shots at the woman, striking her several times. The police chief said the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. Bettison said the repo driver was not injured. "I'm just happy to report that it could be a lot worse," said Bettison. "I'm glad that our officers weren't injured. I'm glad the repo man wasn't injured, and of course, we'll be submitting a warrant request to the Wayne County prosecutor in this case." Police recovered a weapon at the scene.
