Vols topple the Tigers, advance to the SEC Tournament Final
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee used a 13-1 run in the second half to pull away from Auburn and advance to the SEC Tournament Final 70-65.
The game started at a frenetic pace. Auburn led 15-14 before the first TV timeout. Both teams settled in defensively. The Vols turned to Zakai Zeigler and Chaz Lanier in the first half. The duo combined for 21 first-half points. Tennessee struggled to slow down Johni Broome. He had 12 points in the first half. Auburn led 33-32 at the break.

Tennessee took care of business at the charity stripe. 25 of the Vols' 70 points came from the free-throw line.
Zeigler continued to lead the Vols offense. The senior finished with 20 points and 4 assists. Jordan Gainey poured in 15, and Chaz Lanier chipped in 12.

UT contained Auburn outside of Broome. The senior finished with 23 points. The rest of the Tigers only scored 42.

NCAA Baseball Tournament: Coastal Carolina 1st team to advance to College World Series with 4-1 win over Auburn
Coastal Carolina outfielder Sebastian Alexander batted 3-for-4 in a 4-1 victory over Auburn that advanced the Chanticleers to the 2025 College World Series. (AP Photo/Stew Milne) Coastal Carolina is the first team to qualify for the 2025 College World Series after defeating Auburn, 4-1, on Saturday. The Chanticleers swept the Tigers in their home regional to advance. Auburn held a 1-0 lead until the seventh inning when Coastal Carolina broke through for three runs. Sebastian Alexander hit a leadoff double and was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Blake Barthol. Walker Mitchell followed up with an RBI single to tie the score at 1-1. Advertisement Tigers pitcher Cade Fisher got Colby Thorndyke to fly out, but the next four Chanticleers batters reached base, resulting in two runs scoring. Blagen Pado singled, Ty Dooley reached on an error by Auburn first baseman Connor McMurray, Ty Borrango drew a walk and Wells Sykes was hit by a pitch. Coastal Carolina boosted its lead to 4-1 in the eighth inning on a RBI single by Mitchell, driving in Alexander, who led off the frame with a double. Hayden Johnson closed out the win for the Chanticleers, getting three consecutive outs after allowing a leadoff double to Eric Guevara in the top of the ninth.
