Alabama sweeps Tuscaloosa Regional, reserve spot vs. Oklahoma in super regionals
For the third consecutive season, the Alabama Crimson Tide are headed back to the NCAA Super Regionals.
Yes, after an impressive run through the 2025 Tuscaloosa Regional in which they hosted, Alabama is moving on in their march toward the Women's College World Series.
Never losing over the three-day span, Alabama began play in Tuscaloosa on Friday with an 8-0 shutout victory over Jackson State in five innings. As a result, the Crimson Tide advance to the winner's bracket final Saturday, where Alabama came away with a 4-3 victory to book a spot in the regional finals Sunday.
On Sunday, Alabama would face off against Virginia Tech once again as well, this time coming away with a 3-2 win over the Hokies. The result also means that the Crimson Tide now sit at 40-21 overall for the season.
Looking ahead, Alabama now advances to the NCAA Super Regionals where the Crimson Tide will travel to Norman for a showdown with the Oklahoma Sooners later this week. The Sooners have won each of the last four national championships, and are one of college softball's top teams yet again this season.
Alabama and Oklahoma previously met back from April 12-14 in Tuscaloosa, a series in which the Crimson Tide took two-of-three.

CBS Sports grades Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 roster

CBS Sports grades Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 roster Texas A&M's best coaching move in several years came this spring, as Athletic Director Trev Alberts took a gamble that has already paid off after hiring former Samford head coach Bucky McMillan to take over the basketball program after Buzz Williams departed for Maryland after six years at the helm. So far, McMillan has completely rebuilt his first 2025 roster, adding 12 players from the transfer portal, while his latest addition, Spanish guard Rubèn Domíguez, could be one of the most impactful players due to his vast international experience and elite 3-point shooting skillset. However, signing former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako, shooting guard Rylan Griffen and Creighton transfer guard Pop Issacs deserved the headlines as potential stars who should lead the Aggies in several categories next season. With all this movement that has made a once-fringe NCAA Tournament team a potential contender during McMillan's inaugural season, CBS Sports's David Cobb provided his roster grades for every first-year head coach, and to no surprise, Texas A&M received an A- based on the talent and experience on the 2025 roster. Here's what Dodd had to say regarding his grade: "How would McMillan fare recruiting at a big-boy job after arriving from Samford with exactly zero high-major experience of any sort on his resume? The answer, as it turns out, is just fine. The Aggies have assembled a competitive roster highlighted by three top-80 transfers and plenty of outside shooting. Pop Isaacs (Creighton/Texas Tech) and Jacari Lane (North Alabama) are serious bucket-getters in the backcourt, while Rylan Griffen (Kansas/Alabama) and Mackenzie Mgbako (Indiana) can pop it from the wing." "The question will be whether the roster is deep enough for McMillan to employ the breakneck pace and deep rotation that defines "Buckyball." But his first wave is certainly not hurting for SEC-caliber talent, and the early June addition of 22-year old Spanish shooter Ruben Dominguez helps alleviate that concern." Ahead of his first season with Maryland, Buzz Williams' 2025 roster received a B+, while new Texas coach Arch Miller received the same grade. Dodd is 100% correct in questioning if A&M's roster is deep enough to master McMillan's intense system, but the shooting is there, and he still has two roster spots available to reach the 15-player roster maximum. ESPN's College GameDay announces Week 1 location: Where Nick Saban, Lee Corso will be

ESPN's College GameDay announces Week 1 location: Where Nick Saban, Lee Corso will be ESPN's 'College GameDay' has announced where Nick Saban and crew will be during Week 1 of the 2025 college football season for Lee Corso's grand sendoff. Given that Corso announced his retirement back in April, it's not much of a surprise where the legendary fixture on fall Saturdays will make his final headgear selection. Saban, host Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit and Pat McAfee will accompany Corso to Columbus, Ohio, for the Aug. 30 matchup between Texas and Ohio State. Corso's first headgear selection while on location with 'GameDay' was at Ohio Stadium on Oct. 5, 1996. He donned the Brutus Buckeye headgear before Ohio State defeated Penn State, 38-7, in a top five matchup. Texas and the defending champion Buckeyes are all but certain to be ranked in the top five in the preseason polls entering the 2025 season. The Texas vs. Ohio State clash was chosen by 'GameDay' over Doak Campbell Stadium for Alabama's season opener at Florida State (2:30 p.m. CT, ABC). Corso played for the Seminoles from 1953-56. Clemson vs. LSU at Clemson Memorial Stadium was another destination some thought ESPN might choose since Texas-Ohio State will be airing on Fox. According to ESPN, Corso is 286-144 overall in his 430 headgear selections. He's worn the Brutus Buckeye headgear 45 times in those selections, followed by the Big Al headgear 38 times while picking Alabama. Ohio State has hosted 'GameDay' 26 times overall, the most of any school. Alabama is second on the list, having hosted 19 times. For Saban, who won a Sports Emmy for his work as an analyst on 'GameDay,' it will mark the beginning of his second full season with the ESPN crew.
