RCMP retrieve body from Okanagan Lake in Kelowna City Park
There was a large police presence in Kelowna City Park on Monday, where police say they recovered the body of a man in the waters of Okanagan Lake.
Police were called to the park around 7:45 a.m., where the RCMP dive team was deployed to retrieve the man.

Mounties say the man's death appears to be an isolated incident with 'no suspected criminality involved,' adding there was no risk to public safety.
'We would like to express our gratitude to the public for their cooperation throughout this recovery operation and the partial closure of the park, which has now been re-opened,' police said in a media release.
Police are not releasing the man's identity publicly.

Ground search underway for missing 70-year-old New Brunswick woman
A search is underway in southeastern New Brunswick for a missing 70-year-old woman from Taylor Village. The Sackville RCMP says Ann Cafferty was last spoken to around 10 a.m. Monday and reported missing the next day. Police believe she may have left her home near the 1200 section of Taylor Road on foot. They say they have followed up on several leads to try and find her but have so far been unsuccessful. Both police and her family are concerned for her wellbeing. Cafferty is described by the RCMP as having a medium build with short hair and dark blue or green eyes. Police have also released a photo of the woman, however it is believed to be outdated. A clothing description is not available. Police, Ground Search and Rescue teams, and other RCMP Specialized Policing Services, including Police Dog Services, are in the area searching for her, according to Wednesday evening news release. Police are asking anyone who may have seen Cafferty on Monday, who may have surveillance footage of her walking in the area, or who has information that could help find her, to call the Sackville RCMP at 506-364-5023. ‘I could be planning a funeral': Victim's mom praises stranger's life-saving actions
The mother of a man hospitalized in a Selkirk, Man., machete attack Friday night says she could have lost her son if a Good Samaritan hadn't stepped in to save his life. When RCMP officers arrived at the scene, outside a Main Street bar, they found two injured men — the original victim, who had been stabbed with a machete, and Broderick Tkachyk, a witness to the altercation who stepped in to help. Tkachyk told Global Winnipeg he was hit in the ear with the machete during the incident, but managed to help the victim with his injuries before paramedics arrived. Margaret Barkman-Harris, the mother of the victim, said she's grateful for the help of a stranger. 'I could be planning a funeral instead of watching him get better,' she said. Story continues below advertisement 'I'm just thankful all the people were around him and helping him. I feel bad that (Tkachyk) got hurt in the process of helping someone, which was just not fair.' Barkman-Harris said she's planning on taking Tkachyk out for lunch Wednesday to thank him for his selflessness and intends to help him find a job to get his life back on track. A 23-year-old is in custody facing two counts of aggravated assault, while the other suspect, 28, has been charged with two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and has a pending court date. Under the Criminal Code, publishing, texting or sharing intimate images of someone without their consent is a crime. The new Quebec law allows victims to fill out a form online or at a courthouse and obtain an order from a judge requiring the images or footage to be removed. Failure to comply comes with stiff penalties — with fines up to $50,000 per day for a first offence or 18 months in jail. Quebec is the second province after British Columbia to pass legislation protecting victims of non-consensual image sharing.
