Susan Boyle pays touching tribute to Pope Francis in emotional video address
Pope Francis, 88, sadly passed away on Easter Monday and the Britain's Got Talent star has shared an emotional video address following the news.
Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has paid a touching and emotional tribute to Pope Francis, following his sad passing on Easter Monday. The Britain's Got Talent star made a poignant address on social media in a video message.
"RIP Pope Francis. It was the honour and privilege of my life to sing for you. A man for all seasons," she captioned the heartfelt video message which she shared with her 131k followers. Fans soon flooded the comments section.
In the video clip, she described the moment as being an "honour and a priviledge of my life," to have had the opportunity to sing for the late Pope back in 2019.
One person penned, "It was an honour to hear you sing for the Pope," as someone else wrote, "I'm sure he enjoyed every moment you sang for him."
"Lovely memories for you Susan," chimed another. One fan wrote, "Sending you lots of love, Susan and I hope you're ok," with another adding, "God Bless you, Susan! We love you so very much!"
Another person added, "Something you'll always remember. If only he could've heard your songs one last time."
"Beautful Susan, rest in peace and so sad a day but he really was so,so.loved throughout the world.xx," quipped another.
The 88-year-old passed away on Easter Monday after battling illness for months. The pontiff has been laid out in an open coffin at the Vatican for the Confirmation of the Death of the Pontiff ceremony.
His death was confirmed on Monday just hours after he blessed Easter Crowds at the Vatican the previous day. A statement released by Cardinal Kevin Farrell read: 'At 7.35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the home of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of his Church.
'He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with faithfulness, courage, and universal love, especially for the poorest and most marginalised.
"With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite, merciful love of God, One and Tribune.″
The Pope's cause of death was confirmed as stroke and subsequent irreversible heart failure. He has been remembered as someone full of compassion, mercy and 'irrepressible hope'.
Mourners gathered in their thousands to honour the late pontiff yesterday with crowds spilling onto the streets of Rome and the Vatican City.
Susan Boyle has said meeting Pope Francis was "a humbling experience", ahead of her performance in the Vatican's annual Christmas Concert back in 2019.
The Scottish star, from Blackburn in West Lothian, performed alongside the likes of Lionel Richie and Bonnie Tyler. Boyle said: "It was a huge honour to meet Pope Francis and at the Vatican.
"To be at the Vatican meeting the Pope was such a humbling experience and to be asked to take part in his Christmas concert was a true honour.
"I have to pinch myself at how lucky I am and ten years on I'm still having the most fantastic time with these incredible opportunities. I don't and won't ever take this for granted."

Despite their bold colour, they're surprisingly adaptable, with Karen Millen suggesting them as suitable attire for summer weddings or race day events. The top , meanwhile, offers a sculpted look that 'flatters the figure'. Its strapless design makes it ideal for summer soirees and garden parties, with the neckline providing the perfect canvas for statement necklaces, reports the Mirror . Elsewhere, the high street is offering plenty of mango inspo, proving it's a shade well worth incorporating into your wardrobe. PrettyLittleThing offers several budget-friendly options on their site. Similarly, Nobody's Child has embraced the colour trend with their Orange Broderie Anglaise Starlight Midi Dress available for £110. What truly won Amanda over was the Karen Millen co-ord set's crease-resistant material, meaning less hassle with ironing. She shared: "I thought oh, if I'm going to sit down all day it's going to crease up and look awful by the time I leave but look it's absolutely fine." What's more is that fashion fans can style the set in at least three ways to get more bang for their buck. Pairing the top with light blue jeans and heels could be stunning for cocktails or brunch, while teaming the trousers with a plain white tee and trainers offers a relaxed vibe, ensuring buyers can enjoy multiple outfits whether on holiday or in an office setting.
