Saudi ride-hailing apps record over 27.9 million trips in Q1

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia'sTransport General Authority (TGA) announced that the number of trips carried out via ride-hailing apps in the country exceeded 27.9 million trips during the first quarter of 2025, an increase of 87 percent compared to the same period of 2024.
TGA confirmed that the total number of active drivers serving passenger transport apps in Saudi Arabia amounted to more than 2,47,700, including 13,000 females, during the first quarter of 2025. This was an increase of 68 percent for male drivers, and 83% for female drivers, compared to the first quarter of last year.
TGA explained that Riyadh region topped the highest percentage of executed trips, recording 41.1 percent, while Makkah came second with 23.2 percent, followed by the Eastern Province with 15.7 percent, and Madinah with 6.5 percent.
Al-Qassim and Asir each recorded 3.2 percent, Tabuk 2.7 percent, Hail 1.9 percent, Jazan 1.2 percent, Najran 0.6 percent, Al-Jawf 0.5 percent, and finally the Northern Borders and Al-Baha each 0.2 percent.

The ride-hailing apps in the country witnessed significant growth with the total annual income of Saudi male and female drivers from the sector exceeding SR2 billion.

The number of health services provided exceeded 125,573, including advanced procedures such as 216 cardiac catheterizations and 18 open-heart surgeries, all performed efficiently by qualified Saudi medical personnel. This outcome confirms the high level of health preparedness and the development of national medical capabilities. In the same context, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that it has conducted over 5.5 million electronic readings of the Nusuk Card as part of its technical plans to enhance pilgrim services and improve organizational safety. Meanwhile, the Pilgrims Care Center, through the unified number 1966, has provided more than 310,000 services since the beginning of the season, including inquiries and direct support. Additionally, field teams from the Compliance Centers have carried out over 65,000 inspection tours of service providers to reinforce compliance and improve performance quality. These integrated efforts reflect the strong coordination among various entities involved in Hajj, under the guidance of the wise leadership and in line with the objectives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to advance the Hajj system, harness modern technology, enhance the pilgrim experience, and enable them to perform their rituals in a safe, organized environment prepared to the highest international standards.

Pilgrims move from Arafat to Muzdalifah
Saudi Gazette report ARAFAT— After sunset on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims began heading to Muzdalifah, amidst the services and health measures provided by the Saudi government to enable them to perform their rituals in peace and security after standing on Mount Arafat and completing the greatest pillar of Hajj. Upon arriving in Muzdalifah, pilgrims perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers together, following the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They spend the night in Muzdalifah, then head to Mina after the Fajr prayer the next day to throw stones at the Jamarat al-Aqaba and slaughter the sacrificial animals. The exodus from Arafat to Muzdalifah is the third stage of the Hajj pilgrimage.
