Home featured in 'Dazed and Confused' listed for sale in Austin
AUSTIN – Fans of the movie "Dazed and Confused" can purchase a piece of the film for just under $1 million.
The home where movie character Mitch Kramer lived was listed for sale earlier this week, according to Zillow. The home is located in Northwest Austin, just off the MoPac Expressway.
"This home is as cool as it gets—and it'd be really cool if you did make it yours," the listing said, taking a line from Matthew McConaughey's character in the film, David Wooderson. "You gotta keep livin', man—L-I-V-I-N'."
The 2,137 sq ft one-story home features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, two office spaces and a game room, according to the listing. The listing also said it was recently renovated.
For fans of the movie interested in purchasing the house, it's listed for $950,000.
According to Travis County records, the home was built in 1964 and has had one owner since.
"Dazed and Confused" was filmed at various locations around Austin in the early 1990s and starred McConaughey and Ben Affleck. The movie is set in 1976 and tells the story of a group of teenagers celebrating the last day of high school and all of the adventures that followed.

Matthew McConaughey is set to star in a movie based on the Mike Hammer detective novels written by none other than True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto. Per Variety, not much yet is known about the film, and a director has not yet been attached. Mike Hammer is a no-holds-barred detective who first appeared in the 1947 novel I, the Jury. Since then, 22 novels have been released, and there have been five feature-length adaptations. The book series is set to end this year with the novel, Baby It's Murder. McConaughey starred as Detective Rustin "Rust" Cohle opposite Woody Harrelson as Detective Martin "Marty" Hart in True Detective season 1, which hit HBO back in 2014. The story took place across two timelines: 1995, when the pair are young detectives fresh on the scene who are brought in to investigate the death of Dora Lange, and then 17 years later when Dora's murder is suddenly linked to a series of unsolved missing-person cases. Pizzolatto served as showrunner for True Detective seasons 1-3, before Issa Lopez took over for season 4 and the upcoming season 5. The scribe was also hired to rewrite the script for Marvel's Blade before the film was shelved indefinitely. Mike Hammer will be the first time he and McConaughey have reunited since 2014. Matthew McConaughey and True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto are officially getting the band back together, but this time, they're trading Southern Gothic dread for classic pulp noir. According to Deadline, McConaughey is in talks to star as Mike Hammer in a feature adaptation of the famed hardboiled detective book series, with Pizzolatto writing the script. This sounds like it will be a perfect project and character for the actor to take on! The film is set up at Skydance, which recently acquired rights to Mickey Spillane's long-running franchise co-authored by Max Allan Collins. Hammer is a genre-defining detective character that was first introduced in I, the Jury back in 1947, and has since become a staple of American mystery fiction. With over 250 million books sold, he's left a cultural fingerprint that spans decades, so much so that Ian Fleming once described James Bond as 'the British answer to Mike Hammer.' He also inspired characters including Dirty Harry and Jack Reacher. This project marks a long-awaited reunion for McConaughey and Pizzolatto, whose work together on HBO's True Detective Season 1 helped redefine prestige television. That first season earned both of them Emmy nominations, and ever since, fans and press have speculated about when the pair might collaborate again. There were even discussions about a return to the True Detective universe, possibly with Woody Harrelson back in the mix. But according to sources, once Pizzolatto passed McConaughey the Mike Hammer script, all eyes turned toward bringing that world to life instead. The producing team is now reportedly searching for a high-profile director to bring the gritty, hard-edged vision to life for the big screen. Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger are producing alongside Guymon Casady of Entertainment 360. Max Allan Collins will serve as executive producer, with Jane Spillane co-producing. McConaughey's upcomiung projects include The Rivals of Amziah King , which received strong praise following its premiere at SXSW, and his upcoming Apple thriller The Lost Bus , directed by Paul Greengrass. He's also heading back to television for the Apple TV+ comedy Brother From Another Mother, where he'll reunite on screen with Woody Harrelson.
