Ohio teacher allegedly shows up to student's home, asks for homework
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An investigation is underway after a teacher in northwest Ohio allegedly showed up to a student's home.
According to Thomas Hosler, superintendent of Perrysburg Exempted Village School District, a student's family alerted school administrators of a teacher who allegedly came to their residence after a school day and reportedly asked for missing homework.
'During this interaction, a parent arrived home, confronted the teacher on the front porch, and later emailed the building administrators,' said Hosler.
When school and district officials learned of the alleged incident, the teacher was placed on administrative leave.
'The teacher was placed on administrative leave before the start of the next school day and a police investigation was opened about the incident,' Hosler said.
Hosler said that the district encourages families and students to speak up if they have any concerns regarding the district.
'We are grateful to the family who reported this concern immediately, allowing us to act quickly,' said Hosler. 'We encourage all students and families to speak up whenever they have concerns about staff conduct so we can address them right away.'
The district superintendent claims additional information could be provided in the future regarding the incident 'within the limits of the law,' as it cites the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and investigation by law enforcement.

Police: Man left paralyzed after being shot in Harrisburg over power washer
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A shooting in Harrisburg over the sale of a power washer left a man paralyzed from the neck down, and another man faces charges, according to police. Jerry Tasker Jr., 34, of Harrisburg, is accused of firing shots after the sale went awry, injuring the 19-year-old man who was sitting inside a vehicle along Honey Alley on May 25, Harrisburg Police said in charging documents. The victim was shot in the upper left back and the bullet was lodged in his neck, police said. Due to his injuries, he had to be transported to another hospital for treatment. But instead of cash, Tasker wanted to swap two grams of crack for it. An argument between the seller and Tasker broke out, and Tasker tried to take the power washer out of the seller's vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, police said in the charges. Tasker then walked back towards a home after he couldn't get it. Police said Tasker returned to the vehicle and pointed a black gun that had an extended magazine. The driver then took off, but Tasker fired shots that caused the rear driver's side window to 'explode.' Police said they saw the 4Runner on the hospital's surveillance video and were able to find the driver and speak with him. Tasker was also identified as the shooter when police showed a picture of him to the victim and the driver, the charges show. Tasker faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm prohibited and recklessly endangering another person. Man facing charges in connection with death of Jacksonville woman who went missing in 2024
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – A man is facing charges in connection with the death of a woman who went missing from Jacksonville last year. The Jacksonville family of 40-year-old Lateshia Patillo said Oct. 13, 2024, changed their lives forever when Patillo went missing. Jacksonville police searching for missing woman; family hopes she will be found quickly Court documents state she got a ride from a truck driver named Stevie Bernard Williams in Arkansas that same day. While the semi was traveling at 68 miles per hour, Williams said Patillo jumped out. 'She did not deserve to be done the way she was done. And left on the side of the road and later died,' Patillo's mother said. The affidavit states that Williams did not call 911 and continued his route toward New Jersey. Patillo was found on the shoulder of Interstate 40 in Roane County, Tennessee, and later died in a medical center.
