Lightning Forward Could Generate Serious Interest This Summer
The Tampa Bay Lightning have multiple free agents this off-season, but forward Yanni Gourde is easily the most significant. If the Lightning do not re-sign Gourde by July 1, he will hit the market and have the freedom to sign with any team of his choosing.
There are certainly reasons why the Lightning should consider keeping Gourde around. The 33-year-old forward has multiple Stanley Cups on his resume, produces solid secondary offensive production, is solid defensively, and provides plenty of grit. Thus, it would be nice if the Bolts brought him back.
However, if the Lightning can't come to terms on a new deal with him or simply go in another direction, he should generate plenty of interest this off-season. The 10-year NHL veteran is precisely the kind of play that all contenders love to have, as he provides a bit of everything and has plenty of playoff experience.
If Gourde does become a free agent, he would instantly be one of the top options available for clubs looking to improve their middle-six down the middle. Furthermore, his ability to kill penalties and physicality also certainly add to his appeal.
Nevertheless, it is going to be very interesting to see what happens with Gourde this off-season. If the Lightning do not bring him back, expect there to be a big sweepstakes for his services in free agency.
In 57 games this season split between the Seattle Kraken and Lightning, he had seven goals, 31 points, and 109 hits.

Tampa Bay Lightning Re-Sign Defenseman Max Crozier To Three-Year Contract
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they have re-signed defenseman Max Crozier to a three-year contract. The contract is a two-way deal for the 2025-26 season and transitions to a one-way contract for the remaining two seasons. The North Vancouver, B.C., native had 17 goals and 71 points in 119 career games with the NCAA's Providence College, he also served as captain in 2022-23 before joining the Crunch. Colorado Eagles Associate Head Coach Dan Hinote Joins Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they have hired Colorado Eagles associate head coach Dan Hinote as an assistant coach. Hinote helped lead the Eagles to a 43-21-5 record this season, best in the AHL's Western Conference. The Eagles led the league in goals for and had an AHL-best +65 goal differential. Advertisement The 48-year-old began his coaching career as an assistant with the Columbus Blue Jackets from the 2010-2011 season through the 2013-14 season. He transitioned to a pro scout for four seasons before joining the US National Development Program's U17 and U18 teams. He then joined the Nashville Predators as an assistant for four seasons from 2020-21 through 2023-24. In his playing career Hinote recorded 38 goals and 90 points in 503 career NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues. He won the 2001 Stanley Cup with Colorado. He also posted 84 points in 144 career AHL games with the Hershey Bears, scoring 28 goals and 59 points in 55 games and being named an AHL All-Star in 1999-2000. Tampa Bay Lightning Hire New Assistant Coach
The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have hired Dan Hinote as an assistant coach. With Jeff Blashill leaving the Lightning after landing the Chicago Blackhawks' head coaching job, Tampa Bay had a vacant assistant coach position. Now, the Bolts have found Blashill's replacement with Hinote. Advertisement Hinote, 48, spent this season as associate coach for the Colorado Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. This was after he spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach for the Nashville Predators. He was also previously an assistant coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2010-11 to 2013-14. Hinote will also provide the Lightning with an assistant coach who previously played at the NHL level. In 503 career NHL games over nine seasons split between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues, Hinote posted 38 goals, 52 assists, and 90 points.
