National Highways said there had been one emergency lane closure at junction 25 for Marks Tey "for gas utility works".
It reported about 50 minutes of hold-ups between junction 28, for Colchester, and junction 25.
Drivers are being warned to allow extra time for their journey.

Range Rover Electric pushed back to 2026 – delay may affect new Jaguar models
First deliveries of the Range Rover Electric have been pushed back until next year – and a report claims this could also delay the first new-era Jaguar models. Parent JLR's highly anticipated second EV, after the Jaguar I-Pace, was due to hit roads later this year with prototypes finishing late-stage testing. As recently as 15 July, the Range Rover website stated that orders would begin in late 2025, with JLR confirming the same timeframe to Autocar during our testing of the test mule earlier this month. However, the wording on the website has now changed to 2026, and a report from The Guardian claims waitlist customers – of which there are 62,000 – have been informed about the delay. This, it is thought, could also push back the launch of the electric Range Rover Velar, which was expected to arrive in the middle of next year following the full-fat Range Rover. JLR's reasoning is down to allowing more time for testing and for demand for electric vehicles to pick up – and is something which could also push back the first models in Jaguar's rebrand, the report claims. The production version of Jaguar's Type 00 concept, a £100,000 super-GT packing more than 575bhp, is pencilled to arrive next August. A large luxury saloon and an SUV were due to follow from 2027. In response to the report, a statement from JLR didn't confirm or deny the delay, but did state that it would launch its new models 'at the right time'. It read: 'By 2030 JLR will sell electric versions of all its luxury brands. Our plans and vehicle architectures are flexible so we can adapt to different market and client demands. We are committed to the highest standards of design, capability and quality, and we will launch our new models at the right time for our clients, our business and individual markets.' ]]>

Fire at San Jose post office prompts response from about 50 firefighters
Fire crews responded to a fire at a South San Jose post office early Sunday morning, the San Jose Fire Department said. The fire happened just before 3 a.m. on the 6500 block of Crown Boulevard. A photo shared by the Fire Department shows what appears to be a vehicle inside the building. But the agency has not yet said what started the fire. About 50 firefighters were sent to the scene after a second alarm was called, and the fire was knocked down around 4:30 a.m., the Fire Department said. According to the United States Postal Service, the US Postal Inspection Service is investigating the incident.

A new test has challenged a big myth about electric vehicle performance, proving that even after 225,000 miles, a Tesla Model 3 can still hold its own in terms of efficiency. Used EV specialist Richard Symons, of the UK-based car dealership R Symons (@RSEV), tested two Tesla Model 3s, InsideEVs reported. One had 225,000 miles on its odometer, while the other had 18,000 miles. The car with fewer miles logged an efficiency of 4.55 miles per kilowatt-hour. Meanwhile, the 225,000-mile Model 3 still achieved 4.51 miles per kilowatt-hour, representing a less than 1% difference. The results provide a sharp contrast to the efficiency of gas-powered cars, as InsideEVs pointed out, "Because while most people don't realize this, internal-combustion engines get less efficient as time goes on." The test results offer another reason to consider going electric, especially buying used. The Model 3 was the top used EV in May, with prices down 1.6%, according to Cox Automotive's latest EV Market Monitor. At the same time, demand for new vehicles has slumped, with Tesla experiencing lower sales in the first quarter of 2025, while demand for used EVs has surged.
