Red Sox fans treated to drag show at Fenway as team promotes 'inclusivity' during Pride Night event
The Boston Red Sox hosted their annual Pride Night on Monday, and many fans were treated with a hat to celebrate the cause.
The Red Sox also implored fans to "arrive early for a Pride Party," which presumably was a drag show in the concourse.
"We know that visibility and inclusivity in sports not only affirm the right of everyone to participate and along, but also enrich the spirit of competition and camaraderie," the stadium public address announcer said, via OutKick.
"When teams, front offices and fans come together to create welcoming environments, everyone can thrive, and we prove that we are all better when we stand together."
A Reddit thread showed a drag show from 2022, which is also the first year people in drag attended the celebration.
Individuals representing the LGBTQ+ community were all invited onto the field for the ceremonial first pitch.
The Los Angeles Dodgers did something similar two years ago when they invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which features performers in drag wearing traditional religious habits, and honored them with a community award for their "lifesaving work."
The team rescinded its invite shortly before the celebration due to backlash but invited them back and honored them well before first pitch.
Boston fell to the Tampa Bay Rays, 10-8, after taking two of three from the New York Yankees in the Bronx over the weekend. In 2022, several Rays players refused to wear Pride patches during their own team's Pride Night.
Two years ago, former Red Sox pitcher Matt Dermody was released from the team after they showed concern about his old social media activity, including a resurfaced post from 2021, when he said that "homosexuals…will go to hell." He made just one start for the club.

The hosts second unit outscored the visitors 49-18 in Game 3. "We just had guys make plays after plays," voiced Haliburton after the victory. "Our bench was amazing." T.J. McConnell and Bennedict Mathurin refused to let the Pacers fail. The latter generated a game-high 27 points in 22 minutes. Mathurin's +16 plus-minus rating was second to Obi Toppin [+18], who was also fantastic off the bench. Toppin contributed eight points, six rebounds, and two blocks. He also had a put-back slam that gave Indiana a seven-point cushion with under 4:30 left. McConnell's fingerprints were also all over this game. He produced ten points, five assists, and five steals and was a +12. There were multiple instances where he scored or assisted on a basket, then stole the ensuing inbounds pass. The undersized guard, with a relentless motor, teamed with Mathurin to bring an infusion of energy the Thunder did not match. The latter shouldered the scoring load for stretches. McConnell disrupted Oklahoma City's offense, then pushed the pace to produce points for him and his teammates at the other end. "We really needed that boost, especially in the second quarter, Haliburton told Candace Parker in an interview on NBATV post-game. "We had a rough first quarter; the second unit came [in and] brought energy. When T.J. gets those steals, the building really gets into it. "Ben was amazing, getting downhill, not overthinking things. I thought he did a great job operating the pick-and-roll, rising up and shooting over guys, getting downhill. He just made play after play. Our whole second group did. Honestly, our second group really won us the game." For as much as the Pacers revolve around Haliburton, those two were at the heart of Indiana's taking a 2-1 lead and moving halfway to its first NBA championship.

Giants rally again to beat lowly Rockies 10-7 for 7th straight win
DENVER (AP) — Mike Yastrzemski's two-run double in the eighth inning keyed another San Francisco rally, and the Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 10-7 on Wednesday night for their seventh straight victory. Willy Adames homered and drove in three early runs for the Giants, but they trailed 6-3 entering the eighth before coming back against reliever Tyler Kinley (0-3). Adames, Heliot Ramos and Dominic Smith singled to load the bases with one out, and Casey Schmitt walked to bring in a run. Yastrzemski then lined a double off the right-center wall to tie it. Tyler Fitzgerald laid down a bunt against Zach Agnos, and Schmitt slid around the tag of catcher Hunter Goodman with the go-ahead run. Schmitt was initially ruled out but the call was overturned following a replay review. San Francisco added three insurance runs in the ninth on Wilmer Flores' sacrifice fly, and RBI singles by Schmitt and Yastrzemski. Goodman hit his 11th homer in the bottom half and the Rockies had two runners on when Orlando Arcia grounded back to closer Camilo Doval for the final out. Seattle ends Minnesota's season-opening winning streak at 9, beating the Lynx 94-84
SEATTLE (AP) — Nneka Ogwumike had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Erica Wheeler added 20 points and six assists and the Seattle Storm ended Minnesota's season-opening winning streak at nine, beating the Lynx 94-84 on Wednesday night. After Minnesota had a basket taken away following an official review for a shot-clock violation, Skylar Diggins made a 3-pointer to give Seattle (6-4) an 83-79 lead. Diggins also found Ezi Magbegor under the basket for a six-point advantage. Kayla McBridemade a 3-pointer from the wing with 1:07 left to pull Minnesota (9-1) to 85-84, but Wheeler answered with a 3-pointer at the other end. After Alanna Smith missed an open layup under the basket, Wheeler added two free throws with 25 seconds left to seal it. Diggins finished with 18 points and six assists for Seattle. Magbegor had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Gabby Williams had 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Napheesa Collier had 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Minnesota. McBride added 19 points, going 5 of 11 from 3-point range.
