Ex-UFC title challenger Jessica Eye signs with BKFC; Conor McGregor has 'high hopes for her'
Former UFC title challenger Jessica Eye is back, but this time she's taking her gloves off.
Eye, who retired from MMA in 2022, has opted to come out of retirement and sign with BKFC, she announced Tuesday on 'The Ariel Helwani Show.'
'After they knocked on my door a couple of times, and I threw out some crazy numbers to them about wanting me to return, they finally came financially correct and motivated me enough to be like, 'You know what? Maybe these guys will take care of me in a way that I wasn't taken care of in my UFC fights, and that's financially rewarding,'' Eye said.
Conor McGregor, who's part owner of BKFC, is excited to have Eye join his roster.
'She is in phenomenal physical condition! The best I've ever seen her and I have shared many a card with her over the years. Look at her big bare fists and magnificent musculature! We are very happy to have 'Evil' Eye at BKFC! We have high hopes for her and she will be well looked after! .'

Eye, 38, will return to action after almost three years away from competition. 'Evil' retired after suffering her fourth consecutive loss to Maycee Barber at UFC 276 in July 2022.
Eye fought for the UFC women's flyweight title in 2019 but was viciously knocked out by champion Valentina Shevchenko.

At the time, she was 7-2 and coming off a 'Performance of the Night' bonus-winning decision win over Pearl Gonzalez. Maverick opened her UFC career with two wins. The promotion then matched her against another young fighter, Maycee Barber. Barber was on a two-fight losing skid at the time. She ended that run of defeats with a split-decision win over Maverick. Things did not get any easier for Maverick in her next matchup, as the UFC booked her opposite Erin Blanchfield, who was 1-0 in the UFC, but riding a four-fight winning streak. Blanchfield kept that winning streak intact with a unanimous decision win over Maverick. Since those back-to-back setbacks, Maverick has gone 6-1 with her only loss being a June 2023 decision to Jasmine Jasudavicius. She is 4-0 in her most recent bouts, and coming off a unanimous decision win over Jamey-Lyn Horth in December. Maverick is ranked 11th in the UFC's 125-pound division. On Saturday, June 7, Ben Askren's wife, Amy, shared in a Facebook post that Ben, 40, is in the hospital with severe pneumonia. "You may have heard that my husband Ben is going through something. He developed severe pneumonia which came on very suddenly. He's currently in the hospital and unable to respond to anything at this time. We welcome all prayers for healing and for peace. We are trying to keep life as normal as possible for our children currently and doing our best to support them thoughtfully so please refrain from discussing it with them for now," Amy wrote in the post. Wrestling insider Pat Mineo also took to social media, sharing Askren's condition. "Wrestling community, we need to pray for and rally around @BenAskren who is in critical condition and battling a severe staph infection. He is also battling severe pneumonia, prayers needed!!!" Mineo wrote on X on Saturday night. Askren's most recent Instagram post, shared just a week ago, has turned into a space for fans to send their thoughts and prayers, with many flooding the comments with heartfelt messages and prayer emojis. "Fight back Ben! I pray that you heal quickly and return just fine! We are ALL in your corner man!!!!!!" one Instagram user wrote. "Get well soon champ," another user wrote. Askren had an impressive MMA career, racking up 12 straight wins and capturing welterweight titles in both Bellator MMA and ONE Championship.
