Georgia Amoore scores 19 points, No. 11 Kentucky women defeat Arkansas 89-69

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Georgia Amoore scored 19 points, Clara Strack and Teonni Key had double-doubles, and No. 11 Kentucky defeated Arkansas 89-69 on Sunday.
Strack had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Key contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats (17-2, 6-1 SEC). Dazia Lawrence and Amelia Hassett each scored 14 points as all five starters scored in double figures. Amoore had eight assists and Hassett had seven rebounds, four assists and four blocks.
After leading 44-28 at halftime, Strack scored Kentucky's first nine points of the third quarter to help maintain the 16-point lead. The Wildcats then blew it open when Hassett and Lawrence each went 3 for 3 from deep en route to a 77-53 advantage heading to the fourth period.
Izzy Higginbottom, the nation's fifth-leading scorer at 22.8 ppg coming in, scored 14 of the Razorbacks' final 19 points in the third quarter. She opened the fourth quarter with four more, but Arkansas (8-14, 1-6) never got closer than 19 points.
Higginbottom finished with 32 points. Off the bench, Carly Keats scored 14 points and Jenna Lawrence had 13.
Kentucky shot 64% and made eight free throws in the first quarter, building a 29-10 lead. The Wildcats scored the first 11 and the last 12 points of the quarter.
Kentucky stretched the lead to 25 points when Lexi Blue and Lawrence hit back-to-back 3-pointers for a 42-17 lead before Arkansas regrouped and finished the half on an 11-2 run.
It was Kentucky's annual We Back Pat game, promoting research, care and education surrounding Alzheimer's disease.
Kentucky hosts No. 19 Alabama on Thursday when Arkansas hosts Texas A&M.

The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Adou Thiero out of Arkansas with the 36th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Lakers originally had the 55th pick in the second round, which is being held at Barclays Center, but traded up twice to get the sixth pick on Thursday. Advertisement Thiero, a 6'6" forward, had initially entered the 2024 NBA Draft after his sophomore season at Kentucky but withdrew his name later and transferred to Arkansas. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game for the Razorbacks in 2024-25 and is now a Laker. The Lakers had initially acquired the 45th pick by trading their 55th pick and cash to the Chicago Bulls. They were reportedly interested in Ryan Kalkbrenner out of Creighton University, but the Charlotte Hornets would select him with the 34th pick. The Lakers acted quickly after Kalkbrenner was off the board. They acquired the 36th pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves for that 45th pick and cash considerations, according to Shams Charania. As for what the Lakers are getting in Thiero, he is an athletic slasher who struggles with his outside shot. He shot 25.6% from beyond the arc for the Razorbacks last season, and that's an area where he'll need to improve. Regardless of that potential flaw, Thiero was viewed as one of the highest upside swings in this second round. Thiero has the tools to be a very good defender, and the Lakers certainly need one on the perimeter. It was one of their biggest needs, along with a starting caliber big man. It will be interesting to see who they end up acquiring. Brooks Barnhizer drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder in 2nd round — the 1st Northwestern player picked since 1999
Brooks Barnhizer's Northwestern career ended prematurely, but the 6-foot-6 wing made a little history Thursday night as the first former Wildcat to be picked in the NBA draft this century. The champion Oklahoma City Thunder selected Barnhizer with the No. 44 pick in the second round. The senior from Lafayette, Ind., is Northwestern's first draftee since Evan Eschmeyer in 1999 and only the second in the last 40 years. Barnhizer's final college season ended after 17 games when he suffered a foot injury that required surgery. He was averaging 17.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists — all career bests — before the injury, and without him the Wildcats missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years. Over four years in Evanston, Barnhizer played in 96 games and made 51 starts, averaging 11.1 points and 6.1 rebounds. He was the first player off the bench as a sophomore, finishing fourth in scoring on a veteran team that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. As a junior, Barnhizer started all 34 games, averaged 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds and made the Big Ten's All-Defensive team and third-team all-conference. The Wildcats again advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32. ESPN analyst Jeremy Woo described Barnhizer before the draft as 'a good rebounder, capable playmaker and produced a surprising number of steals and blocks thanks to his all-out style of play,' though he raised questions about Barnhizer's outside shooting. With the Thunder, Barnhizer projects as an 'emergency bench option' on a two-way deal, Woo said, calling him 'the type of tough-minded glue guy that the Thunder tend to covet.'
