Princess Kate Isn't Traveling Overseas This Month—But She Is Making This Major Solo Appearance Instead

On Wednesday, March 12, Kensington Palace announced that Prince William was making his first overseas trip of the year—and his first visit to Estonia—but some royal fans were left disappointed that the Princess of Wales wasn't traveling with him. However, just hours later the palace released a second bit of news, sharing that Princess Kate would be making her official return to St. Patrick's Day duties.
The Princess of Wales, who serves as Colonel of the Irish Guards, will visit the regiment at the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in London's Wellington Barracks on March 17. The princess was forced to skip last year's parade due to her cancer diagnosis, which she publicly announced on March 22, 2024.
Per Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales "will award long service and good conduct medals to soldiers within the regiment." And along with presenting sprigs of shamrock to officers and guardsmen, she'll take part in one of the most anticipated parts of the parade by greeting Turlough Mór (otherwise known as Seamus), the regiment's Irish Wolfhound mascot. And, per tradition, she'll enjoy a pint of Guinness in the dining hall where guardsmen will propose a toast to the princess.
Although Prince William often accompanies his wife at the traditional St. Patrick's Day event, he will not be attending this year.
The princess made her first appearance at the event in 2012, attending the St. Patrick's Day parade solo less than a year after she married Prince William.
Since then, the Princess of Wales has attended the parade every year except for 2016, when she decided to spend time with Prince George and Princess Charlotte at their Norfolk home ahead of a royal tour to India and Bhutan. In 2020 and 2021, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As for Prince William's plans next week, he'll be visiting Estonia on March 20 and 21. The prince will visit the Mercian Regiment—an infantry regiment of the British Army—in his role as Colonel-in-Chief. He'll also learn how the country is responding to the conflict in Ukraine and will take on engagements related to renewable energy and technology.

This year's bill features a diverse lineup of returning favorites and emerging talent, including Palo Alto native and bluegrass virtuoso Molly Tuttle, Bay Area jam-pop staples ALO, high-energy improvisational rockers Dogs in a Pile, genre-blending hip-hop pioneer Lyrics Born, and 17-year-old guitar prodigy Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge. Singer-songwriter Amy Helm plans to bring her Helm Midnight Family Ramble outside of Woodstock for the first time, and multiple members of the Trey Anastasio Band are expected to appear in a range of collaborative projects. 'High Sierra is a musical playground,' said artist-at-large Dan 'Lebo' Lebowitz. ' From intimate Troubadour Sessions to Playshops and full-stage sets, it's a convergence point where once-in-a-lifetime collaborations happen — and lifelong friendships begin.' New for 2025 are upgraded amenities, including the Lagniappe Lounge, a shaded indoor venue with lounge seating and cocktails, and The Happy Glamper, a premium, climate-controlled camping option. Ananda Lewis, former TV host and activist, passes away from cancer at 52
The former MTV veejay, model and personality announced in 2020 that she had been battling breast cancer for years and became an advocate for prevention, especially in Black women. Ananda Lewis, the famed MTV veejay, media personality, model, and social activist died on June 11 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer, according to a Facebook post from her sister Lakshmi Emory. Lewis, who hailed from Los Angeles, and was a graduate of Howard University, the historically Black university in Washington, D.C., got her start as a host of the legendary BET teen television talk show, 'Teen Summit,' which filmed in Washington, D.C., where the network's headquarters were before moving to New York City. In the late 90s, Lewis moved to MTV where she became a staple of much of the then-dominant music network's programming, from 'Total Request Live' to live installations for spring break and the like. Because of the prominence of MTV's programming at the time, Lewis (along with other MTV veejays) became celebrities on the music scene. After leaving MTV in 2001, Lewis tried her hand at hosting a talk show, 'The Ananda Lewis Show,' before moving on to correspondent roles for various networks, ensuring that remained a popular figure in culture and entertainment. In October 2020, Lewis shared publicly that she had been battling breast cancer for years. In a 2025 as-told-to for Essence, she broke down her journey and how her body had been reacting, positively and negatively, to various treatments, and how COVID had impacted her journey. She shared that at some point, she began looking for alternative treatments for her breast cancer as opposed to the traditional methods for treating it, and by January 2025, she announced that she was living with stage 4 breast cancer. In her feature story, she urged Black women to lean heavily into prevention through testing and learning their bodies. In that story she shared, 'We're not meant to stay here forever. We come to this life, have experiences—and then we go. Being real about that with yourself changes how you choose to live. I don't want to spend one more minute than I have to suffering unnecessarily. That, for me, is not the quality of life I'm interested in. When it's time for me to go, I want to be able to look back on my life and say, I did that exactly how I wanted to. We all have that right. I know I've done the right thing for me. King Charles, Prince William expected at Trooping the Colour; no Harry
(NewsNation) — One of the biggest events for the British royal family will be happening this weekend to mark the monarch's birthday. But who will be in attendance this year? Trooping the Colour takes place on June 14 each year, with musicians, horses and parading soldiers taking part in the celebration. Royal family members will also sometimes join in on the fun, riding horseback and being in horse-drawn carriages. Kanye West changes name to 'Ye Ye': Documents After the parade, senior royals will gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the Red Arrows fly overhead. King Charles, Queen Camilla and his son, Prince William, should all be in attendance. However, with royals clashing and Prince Harry's recent bid for security being denied, who can we expect to see at this year's event? There's no doubt that King Charles, 76, and his wife, Queen Camilla, will be at the center of the balcony, waving to the crowd below. Express Newspapers reported that 42-year-old Prince William, along with Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will also be on the balcony. In 2024, after much speculation, Kate did end up attending the event despite her abdominal surgery and cancer diagnosis. Charles' brother, 61-year-old Prince Edward, should also be in attendance with his wife, Duchess Sophie. It is unclear if their children, Lady Louise and James, will be with them. The late queen had decided to only invite working members to the balcony, which excluded Harry and his wife, as well as Prince Andrew. The only exception made was for Princess Anne's husband, Sir Tim, her two youngest grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. King Charles kept those same rules in 2023 and 2024 and will likely keep that same pace this year, since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their children, are not expected to attend. One insider recently told NewsNation's Paula Froelich that Prince Harry 'doesn't really have any friends' in Montecito and is 'very lonely.' Sources told People magazine that Harry 'has one foot in the past,' and his friends agreed. 'He spent his entire life in England with family and friends. It's harder to forge deep friendships with people when you're older, especially if you're wary they may speak to the press.' King Charles and Prince William allegedly don't speak to Harry for the same reason—that what they say will be repeated to a news outlet. After Duke Edward abdicated, the royal family didn't have much contact with his family. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor became outcasts among the elite, and Edward's brother, King George, only saw him a few times in private after the abdication.
