Sheikha Fatima hails Al Nowais' UNWTO election
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the 'Mother of the Nation,' Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC), and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), congratulated Sheikha Nasser Al Nowais on her election as Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
Sheikha Fatima affirmed that this achievement is the fruit of the UAE leadership's insightful vision in supporting and empowering Emirati women - a vision laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and carried forward by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him.
This vision established a comprehensive and integrated approach that enhances women's capabilities and enables them to advance in various fields, proving their merit on international platforms.

She stressed that this milestone further strengthens the UAE's model of women's empowerment.
Sheikha Fatima affirmed that the election of Sheikha Al Nowais as the first woman to hold this prestigious position marks a new milestone in the UAE's journey of achievements and reflects the growing international confidence in the excellence and capabilities of Emirati talent.
She expressed her confidence in Sheikha Al Nowais's ability to drive transformative change in the global tourism sector in service of humanity and sustainable development.
She concluded by emphasising that Emirati women will continue to be essential partners in the comprehensive development journey and ambassadors of UAE values in international forums, carrying the message of a nation that places human empowerment at the heart of its developmental and civilisational aspirations.

SEC approves unified guide for commercial signage in Sharjah
At the outset, the Council extended heartfelt congratulations to President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to all the Rulers, citizens, residents, and Muslims on the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Adha. New jobs and training support for citizens The Council praised the Ruler of Sharjah's recent approval of 400 new jobs for Emirati men and women in government departments across the emirate. It also commended the allocation of AED 55.8 million to the Sharjah Programme for Training and Qualifying Jobseekers — a move that underscores the Ruler's commitment to supporting citizens, boosting employment, and enhancing quality of life and professional development. Al Hamriyah Port fire response applauded The Council expressed its deep appreciation for the swift and professional response by national teams to the recent fire at Hamriyah Port. It noted the high level of readiness, coordination, and effective crisis management, particularly by Sharjah Police, the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, Civil Defence, emergency and crisis management bodies, and other local and federal authorities. UAE President orders release of 963 inmates ahead of Eid al-Adha
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday ordered the release of 963 inmates ahead of Eid al-Adha. His Highness also pledged to settle any financial obligations incurred as part of the inmates' sentences in a gesture of goodwill marking the holy occasion. The President's initiative aims to give the released inmates a chance to "start a new life, strengthen family ties, and instill the values of forgiveness and compassion in society." The Emirati head of state most recently ordered the release of 1,295 inmates from correctional institutions in the UAE ahead of Ramadan this year.
