The new sensors deliver 14 days of battery life — three times what our last device offered — while being 7 per cent smaller. WHOOP MG builds on that with Heart Screener with ECG, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications, and Blood Pressure Insights.

Any recovery tips you can share with users based on your experience?
There are many tools and strategies I use to optimise my recovery, including wearing blue light glasses before bed and cold plunging after working out.
I also find meditation personally has been one of the biggest unlocks for me. I do it every morning for 20 minutes and it's become nonnegotiable for me.
When I was 24 years old I was really stressed about building WHOOP. I was run down, strung out, and I hadn't really learned how to cope with stress.
I found meditation as a tool to really find balance and reflection. It allowed me to develop this ability to look at my thoughts in the third person. It made me feel much more in control and aware.

MAKKAH — The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) announced that a midday work ban under the sun will be in force for all private sector companies and establishments from Sunday, June 15. The ministry, in cooperation with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, will start imposing the work ban from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., for a period of three months ending on September 15, 2025. The ministry said that the decision is part of preserving the safety and health of workers in the private sector by banning their work in the open under direct sunlight. It also aims to protect them from potential health risks, and provide a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with international occupational safety and health standards. The ministry called on employers to organize working hours and adhere to the provisions of this decision. This will contribute to providing a safe work environment free from various hazards and enhance the efficiency and prevention measures to reduce occupational injuries and diseases resulting from exposure to direct sunlight, which will impact productivity. The ministry published on its website the Procedural Guide for occupational safety and health to prevent the effects of sun exposure and heat exhaustion. Prozac users in the UAE concerned as supplies of 'life-changing' drug dry up

Prozac users in the UAE are concerned about dwindling supplies after its global discontinuation last year, sparking conversations among patients and psychiatrists about available alternatives. Considered a cornerstone treatment for conditions like depression and anxiety, the medication is now fast disappearing from pharmacy shelves as stocks dry up. Internationally, the medication is widely available under other brand names however in the UAE Prozac has historically been the only option with this formula. Finding alternatives Prozac, which was manufactured by US drug company Lilly, is the brand name for fluoxetine, a type of medication known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It has been used for mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and bulimia nervosa since its launch in 1987. It is available on the market as a controlled medication and accessible to patients when prescribed by a psychiatrist. Now, patients may have to source their medication out of the country or try alternative pharmaceuticals, such as Zoloft (sertraline) or Cipralex (escitalopram), which have different base formulations and therefore different side effects depending on a person's biology. 'This decision is not related to the safety or efficacy of the medicine, but reflects the availability of broad alternative treatments and evolving business priorities,' a Lilly spokesperson told The National. 'We encourage patients currently on Prozac to speak to their healthcare provider about treatment options available to them. While no new supplies are being planned, limited stock may still be available locally through licensed distributors.' The National was able to locate some Prozac at pharmacies with leftover stocks at the time of writing, but many contacted were completely out. Global antidepressants usage While Prozac has been one of the most widely prescribed drugs of its kind for decades, the global antidepressant market is growing rapidly. It was valued at $18.7 billion in 2024 and is estimated to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 7.5 per cent from 2025 to 2034, when it is forecasted it will be worth $37.9 billion, according to Global Market Insights. This is being driven predominantly by mental health awareness and rising demand for effective treatments for various conditions. 'Impact was life-changing' One Dubai-based mother, who wished to remain anonymous, is concerned for her 11-year-old daughter, who has been taking Prozac for the past 18 months. "She is autistic and struggles with severe anxiety, OCD and specific phobias," she told The National. "We tried other SSRIs before, but none were effective. Prozac has been the only medication that made a noticeable difference, particularly for her OCD symptoms." The mother said since they'd heard Prozac is going out of stock in the UAE, they've been trying to source an alternative fluoxetine product from their home country. "Switching to another SSRI is not a viable option for her right now ... I trust that the authorities will take this matter seriously and work toward a solution, especially for children and families who rely on this medication for daily functioning and well-being." Dubai resident Victoria McKeown, who lived with 'crippling' anxiety for years until she was prescribed Prozac, is also concerned about the lack of availability in the future. 'While I wouldn't describe myself as clinically depressed, I tried several antidepressants over the years with little effect,' she told The National. 'That changed when I was prescribed a low dose of Prozac. The impact was life-changing – not just for me, but for those around me.' Ms McKeown's psychiatrist contacted her to say she will need to consider trying medications that had previously been ineffective. 'Right now, it seems my only option is to travel overseas, obtain a prescription there, and bring it back with me," she said. "It's incredibly disheartening that a medication which has helped so many people is no longer available here.' Experts are hopeful that an appropriate alternative will soon be available in the market, however. Dr Teizeem Dhanji, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and medical director at Dubai's Sage Clinics, said there is currently no confirmed guidance from authorities, but 'it is expected that substitute options will be introduced in due course'. The National has contacted the Emirates Drug Establishment for more details on when an alternative will be registered, but there was no confirmation at the time of writing. What patients can do now Dr Dhanji advised individuals taking fluoxetine to consult their treating psychiatrists to discuss the best course of action. 'Clinicians can help develop a personalised plan to safely and gradually taper the current medications and transition to an appropriate alternative if necessary," she said. "There are a number of safe and effective antidepressant options available in the UAE and so patients should consult their psychiatrist early.' It may also give some individuals the chance to reassess treatment needs and explore additional coping strategies or therapeutic options that may complement or replace medication, Dr Dhanji added. But the disruption could have a significant impact on the market, said Antony Bainbridge, head of clinical services and clinical lead at Resicare Alliance, a UK-based assessment and residential provider for children with mental health issues that plans to open a Dubai boarding facility soon. Mr Bainbridge said the lack of a substitute could require potentially disruptive changes in medication, particularly for patients who respond well to fluoxetine. 'Alternative SSRIs like sertraline, citalopram and paroxetine are available, but they have different side effect profiles and may not be as effective for every individual.' Patients switching from Prozac to another SSRI may experience withdrawal symptoms, relapse or other side effects during the transition, he added. 'The unavailability may lead to worsening of symptoms in some patients, increasing the burden on mental health services.' Mr Bainbridge also expressed concerns that patients could resort to unregulated or illegal sources to obtain the medication, 'posing significant safety risks'.

Dubai launched the pilot phase of the ' Real Estate Tokenisation Project ' last month, with the first property recording an immense demand from small investors. With just Dh2,000, UAE residents can invest in the property market through the Prypco Mint platform, which was launched by Prypco in partnership with the Dubai Land Department (DLD), the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), and Zand. Here is what UAE investors need to know about this new investment opportunity in Dubai's red-hot property market. 1. What is the tokenisation of the property market? Tokenisation converts real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology. This allows fractional ownership in premium properties. Stay up to date with the latest news. Launched by Prypco in partnership with the Dubai Land Department (DLD), licensed by the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (Vara), Zand Bank, Prypco Mint is the platform for investors in the pilot phase. 3. What is the minimum investment? Investors can invest from Dh2,000 onwards. 4. Who can invest? Can foreign investors invest in tokenised property? Only UAE residents holding Emirates ID cards and aged 18 and above can invest. 5. How is the token value calculated? The value of each token depends on the size and price of the property. Prypco Mint breaks down every square meter of a property into 10,000 tokens. So, a 130 sqm property is split into 1.3 million tokens. The value of a token is then calculated by dividing the purchase price of the property by the total number of tokens. So a property worth Dh2.6 million costs Dh2 per token. 6. How many tokens can one buy? A maximum of 20 per cent of the total tokens in a single property can be bought. 7. How can one buy tokens? UAE residents can invest through bank transfers or debit/credit cards. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not accepted. 8. Is there a lock-in period? If you purchased a token through Prypco Mint, no lock-in period applies. 9. What are the benefits? Some of the key benefits are low investment entry, reduced fees compared to traditional real estate transactions, diversification of portfolio with fractional investments in multiple properties and monthly rental income as well as capital appreciation of the token. 10. Do investors need to register with Prypco Mint? Yes. UAE residents are required to provide documents to register with the platform. Prypco Mint is the only platform in Dubai for such investment opportunities. More platforms are likely to be rolled out later. 11. Is there a fee for investing? According to Prypco Mint, a two per cent fee is applicable on the investment and one per cent exit fee on exiting the investment, whether it's when you sell your tokens or when the property is sold. There is also a 0.5 per cent annual management fee. On the sale of the property, a capital appreciation fee ranging up to 15 per cent is applied, based on the property's value increase, according to Prypco Mint. 12. Is there a DLD fee also? There is a two per cent DLD fee for registering the tokenised title deed in your name, which is 50 per cent lower than the standard DLD fee. 13. How can investors exit their investment? Investors have two options for exiting their investment: 1. Selling their tokens on the Prypco Mint Marketplace once the lock-in period expires. They can withdraw the proceeds to their bank account. 2. If the majority of investors vote to sell the property, it will be sold. The proceeds, after relevant costs are deducted, will be distributed to investors based on their ownership share, and they can withdraw their share of the proceeds to their bank account. 14. How much return should investors expect? According to Prypco Mint, return on investment could range between 8 to 12 per cent per year. 15. Will the owner receive monthly rental income? Yes. Buyers will receive monthly income if the property is rented out. But if the token is sold before the monthly income is distributed, investors will not receive the income. 16. Who will pay for damages or major changes? If there's a material change, like the need for major repairs that could affect the property's value or returns, Prypco will notify all investors. They will then have the opportunity to vote on how to handle the situation. A decision requires a majority vote of 51 per cent of the investors. 17. Is it secure to invest in tokenised property? It is a highly secure and safe investment as all the owners are registered on the blockchain technology. 18. How many tokenised properties have been listed and fully funded? The first tokenised property listed on Prypco Mint was fully funded within a day. It was a Damac Properties unit, priced at Dh2.4 million compared to the market price of Dh3 million. The second property will be listed on June 11, 2025. 19. What is the growth potential? It is estimated that Dubai's real estate tokenisation sector is projected to reach Dh60 billion by 2033, accounting for 7 per cent of the total real estate transactions. This shows that there is a strong growth potential. 20. Why did Dubai introduce tokenisation of the property market? The objective is to attract global technology firms and open new investment opportunities for the investor market. It seeks to diversify property ownership by allowing multiple investors to co-own a single property through tokenised real estate assets.
