Red Cross gravely concerned for nine missing medics in Gaza
The Red Cross said on Saturday it is gravely concerned about the fate of nine Palestine Red Crescent ambulance crew who have been missing for seven days in Gaza.
The international humanitarian organization has not had any contact with the crew since they came under heavy fire while operating in Rafah in the early hours of March 23, it said in a statement.
'It is vital that there is information and access to ensure the safe return of these humanitarians to their families who are in a nightmare without knowing if their loved ones are alive,' it stated.
According to the UN at least 1,060 healthcare workers have been killed in the eighteen months since Israel launched its offensive in Gaza after Hamas fighters stormed southern Israel on October 7 2023. Hamas killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took more than 250 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.
More than 50,000 people have died in Gaza, the majority civilians, according to the health authorities in Gaza. The Israeli military said it does its best to reduce harm to civilians and questioned the death toll provided by health authorities in the territory.

Gaza's Al-Amal hospital ‘virtually out of service': WHO
GENEVA: The Al-Amal Hospital in Gaza, one of the few still operating in the Palestinian territory, is now 'virtually out of service' due to intense military activity, the head of the WHO said Monday. 'Access to the hospital is obstructed, preventing new patients from reaching care, and leading to more preventable deaths,' the World Health Organization's director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus posted on X. Tedros said two emergency medical teams — one local, the other international — 'are still doing their best to serve the remaining patients with the limited medical supplies left on the premises.' 'With the closure of Al-Amal, Nasser Medical Complex is now the only remaining hospital with an intensive care unit in Khan Younis,' he said. The WHO said June 5 that Al-Nasser and Al-Amal hospitals were unable to fully treat the wounded that continue to pour in because of serious shortages of medicines and medical supplies after two months of total blockade. Israeli authorities have recently allowed in some humanitarian aid, but way less than what is needed. Nearly 20 months of relentless war, triggered by Hamas' October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel, has created one of the most serious humanitarian crises in the world, with civilians exhausted by bombardments, forced displacement and hunger.

Israel says Gaza's civil defense spokesman linked to Hamas, claim denied

Israel army orders evacuation of northern Gaza neighborhoods
GAZA CITY: The Israeli military has called for Gazans to evacuate from neighborhoods in the north of the Gaza Strip, where it said rockets had been fired from. Israeli forces will 'attack each zone used to launch rockets,' the military's Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee posted on X, adding: 'For your security, evacuate immediately to the south.' The warning covered a neighborhood northwest of Gaza City and another in Jabalia. The Palestinian Health Ministry said on Saturday that Gaza's hospitals only had fuel for three more days and that Israel was denying access for international relief agencies to areas where fuel storage designated for hospitals is located. The UN has warned that most of Gaza's 2.3 million people are at risk of famine after an 11-week Israeli blockade. There was no immediate response from the Israeli military or COGAT, the Israeli defense agency that coordinates humanitarian matters with the Palestinians. Also on Saturday, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said it was unable to distribute assistance to Palestinian civilians, blaming threats by Hamas, which the group denied.
