Oman's Khasab Hospital to be ready by 2025
Khasab – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced that construction of the new Khasab Hospital in Musandam governorate has surpassed 85% completion. The project, being developed on a 100,000sqm site with a built-up area of 36,000sqm, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
With a total investment exceeding RO48mn, the hospital will offer 164 beds and a wide range of specialised medical services aimed at strengthening healthcare provision in the governorate.
Eng Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambu Ali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at MoH, described the hospital as a key health development project in Musandam.
Facilities at the new hospital will include an accident and emergency unit, radiology department, nephrology unit, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centre, and intensive care units for adults, children, and cardiac patients.
Additional departments will cater to gynaecology and obstetrics, neonatal care, daily operations, and central sterilisation. Administrative offices, a meeting hall, and general support services are also part of the project.
Once operational, the hospital is expected to significantly reduce the need for patients to travel to other governorates for specialised treatment.

Muscat – Oman has been honoured with the 'Commitment to Health Capacity Award' by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the official closing ceremony of the haj season 1446 AH. The award recognises the Omani Haj Mission's outstanding efforts in ensuring a high level of preparedness and delivering quality health services to Omani pilgrims. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of haj affairs offices and non-profit organisations involved in serving pilgrims during the season. Each year, the Omani Haj Mission is supported by a dedicated medical team from the Ministry of Health. This team includes doctors, nurses and pharmacists, and operates a clinic in coordination with Saudi health authorities to provide seamless care to pilgrims. During the event, Dr Tawfiq Fawzan al Rabiah, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Haj and Umrah, also announced the Preliminary Arrangements Document for the haj season 1447 AH. The document, delivered to haj affairs offices, outlines early preparations for the next season, covering contracts, site establishment, booking systems and integrated service mechanisms. Dr Rabiah attributed the success of haj 1446 AH to the coordinated efforts of government entities, civil society organisations and haj missions from across the Muslim world.

Oman wins award for providing good service to Hajj pilgrims
Makkah: The Sultanate of Oman has bagged the Health Competence Commitment Award offered by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Annual Misk closing ceremony. The ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on the premises of the ministry in Makkah in cooperation with the Guests of Allah Service Programme to honour the Hajj Affairs Offices and the non-profit parties which excelled in serving pilgrims during the Hajj season 1446 H. The award was offered to the Sultanate of Oman's Hajj Mission for the quality health services offered to the pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman. The Hajj mission of the Sultanate of Oman is annually accompanied by a health delegation with specialised medical cadres; nurses, pharmacists and other personnel from the Ministry of Health. The delegation sets up a clinic to offer integrated health services for the pilgrims in direct coordination with their counterparts from the departments concerned in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabia'a, gave away the document of the initial preparations for the Hajj affairs offices for the upcoming Hajj season 1447 H. It is an early step to raise the level of readiness and improvement of the facilities for the guests of Allah. In his speech, the Minister praised the government and the civilian efforts with the Hajj affairs offices, which had a great impact on the success of the hajj season for 1446 H.

Health initiative to provide safe educational environment
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement to support the "Health-Promoting Schools" initiative. The initiative aims to provide a safe and health-enhancing educational environment that enables students to improve their academic performance, acquire essential life skills and integrate into society. The agreement was signed by Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education; Sulaiman bin Nasser al Hiji, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Dina al Khalili, Director-General of Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works. Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, stated that this five-year initiative holds significant importance in enhancing students' health environment, serving as a key tool that positively impacts their academic achievement. He added that the total number of schools participating in the initiative since its launch has reached 566 across various educational directorates in the governorates. These schools implement the initiative's programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works. Sulaiman bin Nasser al Hiji, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, emphasised that this initiative stems from a strategic partnership to serve the public good, particularly by promoting health in school environments. This will be achieved through improving students' learning conditions, enhancing their academic performance, preventing diseases, reducing absenteeism, supporting their mental well-being and instilling lasting healthy habits — enabling them to focus, engage and learn more effectively. Dina al Khalili, Director-General of Al Jisr Foundation for Charitable Works, stated that this strategic partnership reflects the convergence of health and education efforts, realising a shared vision to provide a healthy school environment that enhances students' academic success and develops their essential life skills. She reaffirmed the foundation's commitment to creating a sustainable impact for students and society. Al Jisr Foundation will fund sustainable projects for three schools that have achieved the highest gold-level rating in the "Health-Promoting Schools" initiative over five years. Additionally, the foundation will oversee the initiative's implementation and collaborate with specialised teams from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to develop a visual identity and an operational guide for the initiative.
