MANCHESTER CITY have been fined around £800,000 for being late to kick-off nine times during the 2024-25 season.
Pep Guardiola's side have reached a sanction agreement with Premier League chiefs over the issue.

Rule L.33 dictates that Prem teams must kick off, or restart games for the second-half, in a punctual manner or face being fined.
Each offence carried with it a higher fine that the one previous, with City's first breach carrying a £40k fine and their ninth worth £190k.

Palmer won the PFA Men's Young Player of the Year award for 2023-24 and while he arguably did not hit the same heights for the Blues last season, he still hit 15 goals and helped Chelsea win the Conference League. Rice starred in midfield for Arsenal, hitting a career-high nine goals while adding 10 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions. Isak was a key part of Newcastle's success in qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Carabao Cup, hitting 23 goals for the Magpies. Fernandes was a shining light in a largely disappointing campaign for Manchester United. He provided eight league goals and 10 assists for the Red Devils. This year's awards ceremony will be held in Manchester on August 19.

United have been slow to recruit this summer, with £62.5million winger Matheus Cunha from Wolves their only signing so far, despite the need for a radical overhaul of Amorim's squad. Targets for United include Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who played under Amorim there. Amorim is impatient for the new signings to be on the plane for United's three-game tour of the States, which sees them face West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier Leahue Summer Series. The United boss sees the tour as the ideal environment in which new signings can fully integrate with the squad, as well as enabling them to adapt to the team's system, so they can hit the ground running when the new season starts. Amorim also wants United to offload players he does not want as quickly as possible, chiefly Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony. None feature in Amorim's future plans and must be sold to help raise funds to reinvest in new signings. But United are finding it difficult to attract buyers for their outcasts, primarily because of the high wage demands of the players concerned, as well as their poor form last season, which has left clubs unwilling to meet their market valuations. Rashford wants a move to Barcelona, but there has been little progress on that front, while Napoli have expressed interest in Sancho and Garnacho, but want to pay significantly less that United are demanding. The transfer window opened from June 1 to 10, to allow teams to recruit in time for the Club World Cup, and reopened on Monday, closing on September 1. Despite United enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign last season, finishing in 15 th place, Bruno Fernandes has been shortlisted for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award. Fernandes is up against Liverpool duo Mo Salah and Alexis MacAllister, as well as Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and Chelsea forward Cole Palmer. United skipper Fernandes scored eight goals in 36 league appearances last season and 19 in all competitions. The award will be presented at a ceremony in Manchester on August 19. The last time a United player won the accolade was Wayne Rooney in 2010, with Manchester City and England forward Phil Foden the current holder.

June 20 (Reuters) - Premier League 2024-25 top scorer Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association Players' Player of the Year award, along with Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister. Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal's Declan Rice and Chelsea's Cole Palmer were the other four to be voted into the list by their peers, PFA said in a social media post on Friday. Salah scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists to equal the record of 47 goal involvements in a Premier League season, matching Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer who achieved the feat when each team played 42 matches in a campaign, which was reduced to 38 from 1995-96. The Egypt international played a crucial key as Liverpool won the league, finishing 10 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal. Isak was second in the scoring charts with 23 goals as he spearheaded Newcastle's efforts to qualify for the Champions League with a top-five finish. Palmer scored 15 goals and provided eight assists as Chelsea finished fourth. The winners of this year's PFA awards will be honoured at a ceremony in Manchester on August 19.
