Florida has sold almost every major pick and prospect it had in recent years to win now. The Panthers do at least have some young forwards of interest in Anton Lundell and Mackie Samoskevich. There's nothing coming on defense, though, and there hasn't been for a while.

'I think both sides probably would have been surprised a month ago if you would have told them they still hadn't had an extension done one week away from July 1,' Pierre LeBrun said. 'But I will also say this: it's not like they've hit a wall in talks. The dialogue continues almost daily.' Tavares is reportedly not expected to chase the highest offer available on the open market. Instead of getting there, it's believed that Tavares would be willing to take less than his true market value to stay in Toronto, where he lives year-round with his wife and children. Comparable deals signed of late include Matt Duchene's four-year, $4.5 million AAV contract with the Dallas Stars and Brock Nelson's $7.5 million AAV deal over three years with the Colorado Avalanche. The Lakers are moving up in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft
Historically, second-round draft picks in the NBA don't amount to much. Sometimes, they can yield a rotation player, but that tends to be the exception rather than the rule. But over the past several years, the Los Angeles Lakers have found some diamonds in the rough in the second round. Players such as Ivica Zubac and Max Christie have panned out and become quite useful players in time. But they reportedly agreed to send that pick and some cash to the Chicago Bulls in order to acquire the No. 45 pick. According to the Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner, the team gave up $2.5 million to acquire the No. 45 pick. Unfortunately, that means it will be hard-capped at the second apron, at least for now. On draft day 2022, the Lakers executed a trade to acquire a second-round pick that became Christie, and three years earlier, they traded for Talen Horton-Tucker, who had been taken by the Orlando Magic in the second round, on draft day. The man who brought a championship to the Toronto Raptors is leaving the franchise. The Raptors and team president Masai Ujiri are parting ways, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The move comes as an unusual time. Ujiri just took part in the 2025 NBA Draft with the Raptors, and was entering the final year of his contract. Ujiri initially joined the Raptors in 2013. The team experienced success early in his tenure, finishing first or second in the division seven straight seasons after he became its general manager.
