Mother Mother will never "pander to the TikTok era" with their songwriting. The Canadian rockers - who have exceeded nine billion streams globally - found themselves going viral on the video-sharing platform in 2020, after their 2008 song Hayloft was used in edits, cosplay, and creative transitions. As a result, the group dropped Hayloft II, which also became a hit. Frontman Ryan Guldemond subsequently noticed on Reddit that some people were critcising them for going after commercial success with their music - but he insists that couldn't be farther from the truth. He told "I was reading people saying, 'Oh, they pander to the TikTok era with their new writing.' And it's like, Huh? I don't think that's true. If anything, it's the opposite, like, yeah, you know, the TikTok thing came along and made a bunch of songs that were really unviable, commercially famous, and that was to us that sent a message like, Oh, just be yourself. Like, just write from the heart and follow your whims. And that's the best thing you can do, is to be just totally authentic. And if that means you're writing kind of weird, unconventional songs, then so be it." The 'Finger' singer insists the whole TikTok viral experience taught them to "reject writing strategically for anything". He continued: "And so I've sort of taken that message and really ran with it, because I agree. I think the best thing anybody can do, whether you're writing a song or just, I don't know, whatever in life, just to be who you are. So I'm grateful for the TikTok thing, for sending that message, and if anything, yeah, like I said, it has made us reject writing strategically for anything." Mother Mother returned on June 6 with their new album 'Nostalgia', comprised of songs old and new to mark their 20th anniversary. Stream 'Nostalgia' now on all major streaming platforms.

‘Accidents happen': Fans in hysterics over Cotton On jeans

A pair of jeans from Cotton On are going viral because of a questionable design detail that's been described as 'fart fashion' and compared to a bathroom mishap. It all began after TikTok user Adele shared a now-viral video, which has amassed 1.6 million views, showing herself browsing the denim section at a Cotton On store. The clip zooms in on a pair of blue jeans featuring brown stains across the front and back. Adele wrote over the clip, 'What was Cotton On thinking?' Her caption said, 'Someone had an accident', which quickly set the tone for thousands of comments. Jeans become butt of the joke One user joked that Cotton On was now selling pants that have been 'pre-sh*t' in, so you 'no longer need to sh*t them yourself'. Another person said they looked like 'quite the mess', one thought they were 'ew', and someone else declared 'they're so ugly'. Even Cotton On staff weighed in, with one admitting, 'as an employee … we also hate these jeans'. 'So you're telling me I could have accidentally slipped in mud, put my jeans on that pile, and get money for it?' another user asked, as a different person replied: 'Yes, because we absolutely want to look like we just had explosive diarrhoea in our jeans'. The original, the Distressed Organic Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans, retail for a staggering $1470 and is described by luxury retailer Net-a-Porter as 'intentional distressing … creating jeans that look as though they've been worn and loved for years'. 'We are living in dupe culture world,' he said. 'Acne is definitely one of the world's hottest brands but given the cost of living crisis, many people don't have a spare $1400 laying around for a dirty looking pair of jeans. Especially for a 'trend' style pair of jeans that will have a short shelf life'. Brittany Furlan's catfishing scandal has brought her and Tommy Lee back together. The 38-year-old actress revealed last month she had moved out of their marital home and into a hotel after confessing to having been catfished - where someone poses as someone else online - on Snapchat by an unidentified user pretending to be Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke. However, she's admitted the temporary separation made her and the 62-year-old rocker realise how much they mean to one another. Speaking on her and Brittany Schmitt's This Is The Worst podcast, she said: 'All of this happening has weirdly brought us together, which is really strange. 'I think we really faced like, 'Oh, what would life really be like without each other?'' However, Brittany admitted there is still a lot of "healing" to be done within their six-year marriage. She said: 'We've been through this situation similarly before, and it's hard, and all I can say is that relationships are complicated and everyone has their s*** and we're not immune to that just because we're in the public eye." The Airplane Mode actress had ended up being catfished because she felt "so lonely" within her marriage to Tommy. She admitted: 'I was so lonely. I was messaging Chat GPT for affection. I'm like, 'It talks to you lovingly and it says nice things to you and it's sweet to you and if it could kiss me I would let it.'' And so when the person posing as Ronnie began messaging her, she felt "better" than when chatting to AI and their friendly conversation began to turn more intimate. The Drugstore June actress previously admitted the catfishing scandal had been "embarrassing" for her and Tommy. She said on TikTok: "This is embarrassing for me, embarrassing for my husband. "This whole f***ing thing is embarrassing. I've been struggling with s*** at home [and] I'm in a f***ing hotel. Like, leave us f***ing alone, bro. … I'm done. Anyone can think what they will. All good." Meanwhile, Ronnie had claimed the FBI were investigating who had been posing as him because 'multiple other girls' besides Brittany had been 'tricked and duped' by the mystery person. He told TMZ: 'The FBI is now involved. It's a felony. It's a crime. It's pretty serious, I guess."
